Chapter 102: Discord in the Demon Race: Civil Strife Breaks Out
by xennovelEveryone from the Demon Race present had already heard from the vanguard at the front—the ancient seal that had blocked them for thousands of years had finally cracked open.
The news set off a wave of heated arguments. Some believed this was the perfect moment to strike, while others cautioned against rushing in. The hall quickly split into two factions, each loudly voicing their opinions.
A burly demon with wings flushed angrily. “Now’s the best time to attack the Human Race! If we miss this chance, who knows if those damn humans will patch up the breach?”
“Ulu, I disagree,” said a succubus with a sweet face as she stepped forward, smiling as she met the hulking Ulu’s gaze. “It’s been thousands of years. We know nothing about the humans now. Attacking blindly would be reckless.”
Another demon girl, Princess Kadan—Lin Mo’s cherished daughter—noticed the rising tension.
She sat up, stepped forward to stand beside Molly, sweeping her eyes over the crowd and sighing. “I completely agree with Molly. We know nothing about how the Human Race has changed over the millennia—just how many top-tier powerhouses are among them now? We have no idea.”
A handsome demon general named Moran gave a lazy grin, then sneered. “Molly, Princess Kadan, you’re worrying over nothing. Eight thousand years ago, the Human Race was nearly wiped out by our Demon Race.
Do you really think a few thousand years is enough for them to make a comeback? If you ask me, now’s our chance to finish them off for good.”
“Or could it be you’re both just afraid?” Moran stepped in close, staring Molly and Kadan down.
“Who’s afraid? We’re just thinking of the bigger picture. Don’t twist our words or slander us!” Molly and Kadan, feeling the pressure of Moran’s imposing aura, involuntarily stepped back, glaring at him in frustration.
“Is that so? Funny, I smell a hint of guilt on you,” Moran pressed closer, then suddenly turned away with a sly smile. “But hey, if you two lovely ladies are scared, it’s fine. The men can handle the frontlines. Wouldn’t want you delicate girls to break a nail.”
Kadan’s cheeks flushed red as she glared. “Moran, what’s that supposed to mean? Are you looking down on women?”
Ulu strode forward and stood beside Moran, his tone full of mockery. “Princess Kadan, even if you are the King’s daughter, some things just aren’t for women to meddle in.”
“Please watch your words, Princess. Leave fighting to us men. Our Demon warriors aren’t exactly dainty like some people!”
“And what gives you the right to say that, Ulu? There are no cowards in the Demon Race—anything a man can do, a woman can do just as well!” Kadan trembled with anger, yanking her sleeves up like she was ready to charge.
“Let me handle this, Princess Kadan. I’ll show them what women can do!” Molly held Kadan back, then turned to Ulu. “What makes you think women are inferior? How about we have a match? Loser apologizes to both of us.”
“If you’re that eager, I’m happy to oblige. I’ll even act as referee.” Lin Mo suddenly opened his eyes, a wave of terrifying power emanating from him as he looked on with keen interest.
The squabbling voices instantly fell silent as everyone dropped to their knees, trembling in fear.
“Thank you, Your Majesty!” Molly bowed deeply, her gaze unwavering as she looked at Lin Mo.
………………
Outside Demon God Peak, the arena was buzzing with noise and excitement.
The vast training ground was packed to the brim with demons, all gathered to witness the much-anticipated showdown.
Molly and Ulu stood at the center of the arena—the stars of today’s match.
Molly wore a striking battle outfit, her long spear gleaming with light. Her beauty and confidence drew everyone’s eyes.
Ulu, on the other hand, was armored in black, wielding a massive battle-axe. His raw strength and ferocity were enough to make anyone tremble.
On one side of the arena, Lin Mo—the respected and experienced leader—stood silently as the official referee, his sharp eyes promising fairness above all.
Molly and Ulu locked eyes, a fierce determination burning between them.
Both were among the Demon Race’s top warriors. This contest wasn’t just a test of skill or strength; it was a matter of pride.
“This is a friendly match—let’s keep it clean!” Lin Mo announced with a wave before taking his seat.
The instant Lin Mo gave the order, the arena erupted as Molly and Ulu sprang into action.
“Better be careful, Ulu.” Molly twirled her spear with the grace of a dancing spirit, the spearhead flashing with danger.
“Don’t blame me if I have to bruise the flower!” Ulu roared, swinging his giant axe with relentless force, every strike a show of raw power.
“Please be safe, Molly.” Kadan’s fists clenched as she watched, heart thumping in her chest.
Molly’s attacks were swift and agile, raining down like a sudden storm. Ulu countered with thundering, overwhelming strikes.
They darted across the arena in a dazzling back-and-forth, neither giving an inch.
The audience held their breath, caught in the tense dance of attack and defense.
Every expert move from Molly or Ulu brought cheers and gasps from the crowd.
The energy in the arena peaked, everyone feeling as if they were witnessing the Demon Race’s brightest future.
In this fierce duel, both Molly and Ulu revealed extraordinary prowess.
Ulu gasped for breath, body tense but beginning to waver as he locked eyes with Molly.
Molly’s lips curved into a smile. In that brief moment when Ulu froze, she vanished from sight, stunning everyone.
A heartbeat later, she reappeared behind Ulu like a phantom.
“Ulu, you lost—time to apologize!” Molly leveled her spear, the tip leaving a faint line of blood on Ulu’s throat.
Ulu lowered his head and sighed, then shouted for all to hear, “Molly, I apologize for what I said. Anything a man can do, a woman can do too. As for your other suggestion, I’ve got no objections.”
“I declare Molly the winner!” Lin Mo stood, voice ringing out.
The crowd erupted with cheers, celebrating Molly’s victory and the spectacular duel.
Molly and Ulu bowed to each other, showing mutual respect. Molly spun her spear and stowed it with a smile, stepping down to even greater applause.
“You did it, Molly! I knew you could!” Kadan rushed out, throwing her arms around Molly.
“Careful, Princess, don’t trip!” Molly chuckled, ruffling Kadan’s hair affectionately.
Noting that it was time, Lin Mo raised his voice. “Demon warriors, the seal left by the Human Sword God has almost crumbled after all these years—there’s a breach now. What do you all say? Should we launch a full assault, or test the Human Race’s strength first?”
“Your Majesty, I suggest probing them first. After that we can decide if a full-scale attack is wise.” Molly and Kadan shared a glance, then stepped forward and bowed respectfully.
The surrounding demons all bowed in agreement. “Yes, Your Majesty! We agree with Commander Molly’s plan.”
“So be it. Tomorrow, we’ll send out a small probing force.” Lin Mo turned and gave a sweeping gesture. “You’re all dismissed—be ready for the trial run tomorrow!”
