Chapter Index

Rain began to fall from the sky, as if mourning the tragedy unfolding below. In that fleeting calm, the coming storm was already hidden.

Qatar narrowed his eyes, letting the rain wash over him. After a long moment, he sighed. “It’s time to report the situation here to our king. Humans keep growing weaker, yet now and then you find one with an iron will.”

“You, hurry back and relay the king’s judgment. I need to meet up with Duersa. It’s time to teach these humans what true fear is!” Qatar rose, clasped his hands behind his back, and glanced sideways at a demon soldier standing nearby.

The demon soldier knelt on one knee, showing the utmost respect. “Yes, Leader Qatar. I’ll leave at once.”

With Qatar’s gaze fixed on him, the demon soldier quickly departed, heading straight for the Demon Domain.

“Warriors of the Demon Race, now is not the time to rest. We must keep advancing and conquer more!” Qatar swung his arm wide.

Five hundred demon soldiers beat their swords against their shields with thunderous pride, voices booming, “War! War! War!”

Qatar’s face stayed cold and stern as he shouted, “I’m proud of your courage. As the vanguard, it’s up to us to pave the way for our army. Move out!”

Leading five hundred demon soldiers, Qatar marched out in force to join Duersa. Their songs filled the air as they swept through the land, unstoppable, leaving no opponent able to stand against them.

Along every road, wherever they went, the humans fought tooth and nail, but none could match the demons’ overwhelming power.

In less than a few days, Qatar and Duersa led a thousand-strong vanguard, slaughtering over a hundred villages and thousands of cultivators. Still, they pressed forward with unbroken order.

    ………………

On the Sword Qi Continent, the hierarchy of dynasties and cities was strict. The Jianwu Dynasty reigned over three major cities.

First-class cities were the strongest: Tian Gu City, Wanyou City, Hanbing City, and Wentian City.

Second-class cities, with moderate strength, included Xuanwu City, Zhuque City, Baihu City, and Qinglong City.

Third-class cities, weakest of all, were Sky Sword City, Vast Sea City, Heavenfire City, and Yingchun City.

    ………………

Duersa and Qatar, leading from the front, targeted the closest third-class city—Heavenfire City. Its lord, Bai Jingshan, refused to surrender, choosing to fight to the death.

He took the lead, rallying every soldier and cultivator in the city for a desperate counterattack.

The ordinary men and women, young and old, volunteered to arm themselves and charge into the fray, but it was hopeless—a drop in the bucket. No matter how many, ordinary people only added to the mounting casualties.

Everywhere inside Heavenfire City had become a battlefield. Bodies littered the ground, eyes still open in defiance, while blood and severed limbs stained every street.

Against both Qatar and Duersa, Bai Jingshan fought alone and quickly fell behind. He watched his people fall, one after another, under the blades of the demon race.

Casting a glance at his daughter Bai Ting, who had also been beaten back, Bai Jingshan steeled himself for a difficult choice.

“Ting’er, soon I’ll buy you and the others a moment of escape. You must get out—you can’t all die here!” Bai Jingshan held back both enemies and gave Bai Ting one last look.

Duersa’s eyes flashed red as he roared, “You’re strong, human, but with both of us here, none of you are leaving alive today!”

“Die, human! If nothing else, you’ve earned the right to be proud!” Qatar’s eyes flashed with killing intent as he lifted his hand, ready to wipe out Bai Jingshan.

Bai Jingshan took one last look at his foes and burst out laughing. “You demon scum! Even if I die and my soul perishes today, I’ll take you with me. Taste the Bai family’s forbidden art!”

“Today, I, Bai Jingshan, offer up my cultivation and forfeit all hope of reincarnation in exchange for power beyond my limits, if only for a moment—enough to reach an even greater realm!”

Bai Jingshan hovered in midair, red-eyed and wild-haired, his clothes ripped to tatters as his powerful muscles bulged and an overwhelming aura of the Sword Saint Realm exploded from him.

A flicker of fear crossed Qatar’s face. “No—fall back! Something’s not right with him!”

Bai Ting stood frozen in shock, tears streaming down her face. “No, Father, if you do this you’ll die!”

“Ting’er, go! Leave this to me!” Bai Jingshan raised his hand, wrapped Bai Ting in a protective shield, then sent her flying far away.

“No, Father!” Bai Ting pounded helplessly on the barrier, forced to watch the scene unfold.

Qatar roared, “You’ve made up your mind, human? Then we won’t hold back. Full power—this is the respect you deserve!”

Qatar and Duersa unleashed their full cultivation. Instantly, a black cloud shrouded the sky above Heavenfire City, blotting out all sunlight.

“Watch yourself, human!” With a furious roar, Qatar and Duersa unleashed their thunder-charged weapons, pouncing at Bai Jingshan like wild beasts freed from their cage.

Bai Jingshan sneered. “Perfect timing. Show me what the two of you can really do!”

The three of them clashed, their terrifying power flattening buildings below in an instant. Demon soldiers and human cultivators caught in the shockwave coughed up blood, crashing to the ground to stare at the battle above in awe.

Seeing Bai Jingshan’s overwhelming might, Qatar and Duersa changed tactics, attacking and retreating to wear him down rather than face him head-on.

Bai Jingshan realized their plan and knew he couldn’t afford a drawn-out fight. He bellowed, “Who could have guessed you two would be so cowardly, ducking and dodging instead of fighting me fair!”

Up in the air, Bai Jingshan unleashed a devastating combo, setting off explosions of fire and lightning that ripped the air and even tore open space itself.

“You’re strong. If we fought you head on, victory would come at too great a cost. This is your own misfortune—your death will wear you down piece by piece!”

Two blurry figures appeared in the void. Qatar and Duersa had taken internal injuries; they wiped blood from their mouths.

Then they vanished again, flitting about like specters taunting Bai Jingshan. He searched for them in vain, an eerie smirk creeping over his face as he let his guard down.

Seeing their chance, Qatar and Duersa shouted, “No more games—this ends now!”

With a hiss, both of their hands stabbed straight through Bai Jingshan’s chest. The two exchanged wicked grins, confident they’d won.

But in that instant, their smiles froze. Bai Jingshan’s hands clamped down on theirs, gripping tight like a python—neither could break free.

A cold smile appeared on Bai Jingshan’s face. “That’s right, it’s over. I’ll trouble you both to join me in the afterlife! Hahaha!”

He knew he had little time left and made his last, desperate move. His body ignited, rapidly swelling—he was about to explode.

The two demons lost all composure and cried out, “No—you lunatic! You’d blow yourself up?!”

In a split second, Qatar shouted, “Sever your arms now or we both die with him!”

Qatar and Duersa hurriedly chopped off their own arms, but the massive explosion still caught them. Both were blasted into the ruins, grievously injured.

Duersa was hurt worst of all, falling unconscious with barely a breath left.

Above, Bai Jingshan blazed like brilliant fireworks—then vanished from the world forever.

“City Lord! Brothers, let’s avenge him—kill those damn demons!” There was no time to mourn. The surviving human cultivators raised their swords and charged at Qatar and Duersa.

Qatar’s eyes glowed red, face twisted in rage. “Fools! Even gravely injured, I’m not someone you pathetic humans can take on!”

With the last of his power, Qatar unleashed a devastating attack. The last human cultivators of Heavenfire City were reduced to dust, vanishing without a trace.

Heavenfire City, which had stood for thousands of years,

was razed to the ground by Qatar and Duersa in half a day, at the cost of three hundred demon soldiers and their own grievous wounds.
