Chapter Index

The few thousand Demon warriors facing Lu Jingquan felt dread creeping in. Their eyes met for a brief, silent exchange. Not a single one wanted to keep fighting.

A captain twisted his face in fury, shouting, “Cowards, the lot of you! Don’t back down now—charge, and kill him with me!”

In an instant the captain’s aura erupted, radiating the terrifying pressure of a late-stage Demon Sovereign Realm cultivator. Gripping his dagger, he led the way, rushing straight for Lu Jingquan.

The Demon soldiers nearby, seeing their captain dash ahead, exchanged uneasy glances before gritting their teeth. Clutching their weapons, they braced themselves and followed, swarming towards Lu Jingquan.

Thousands of figures surged forward, blotting out the sky.

An Peisheng couldn’t help but look concerned. “Elder Lu, do you think Jingquan will be alright?”

“Don’t worry, Elder An. These demons are no threat to him.” Lu Tingxue replied with a calm smile, sheathing her sword as she turned away.

Watching the oncoming wave of Demon soldiers, Lu Jingquan couldn’t help but cover his face, bursting into carefree laughter.

“Oh, so you’re all in such a hurry? I feel the same. Let me send you on your way!”

Lu Jingquan grabbed the floating sword in front of him with both hands. In a scarlet flash he charged straight into the tidal wave of Demon warriors.

Thousands of demonic soldiers swung their glinting blades at him, grins stretching across their faces—they were sure of their kill.

Yet in the next instant, horror dawned on them. Only a crimson afterimage remained where Lu Jingquan had stood. Panic gripped them as they whipped around—just in time to see a red shadow streak past their bodies.

Before they could even be shocked, their heads were sliced clean from their shoulders. Every expression frozen in disbelief as their heads toppled to the ground, crashing down like wounded geese.

With one broad sweep of his arm, Lu Jingquan summoned all ten flying swords back into his sword case. In a heartbeat, his expression shifted to sternness, as if none of it had anything to do with him. He brushed his hair from his brow, slid the sword case behind his back and strode away, relaxed and unhurried.

“Haha! What are you two doing here, chatting so leisurely? Are all the demons on this side wiped out or is there something even more interesting going on? Mind letting me in on it?”

Lu Tingxue and An Peisheng were still deep in conversation when a familiar voice cut them off. Both turned at once.

That red silhouette was drawing closer. When they saw the familiar face, smiles broke out on both their faces.

“Well, look who it is—Jingquan! You startled me for a second. Tingxue and I already cleared things up here. We were just waiting for you,” An Peisheng said.

Lu Tingxue spoke with concern. “Jingquan, did you handle all the demons on your side? Did you get hurt?”

“Thank you both for asking, but these low-ranking nobodies can’t do a thing to me,” Lu Jingquan replied with an easy smile, striding past them.

“Good, that’s a relief. With things finished here, let’s join up with the Sect Master and help out!” Lu Tingxue nodded.

The three needed no further words. They fell in step behind Lu Tingxue and vanished from where they stood.

Only butchered remains and the mangled, bloody corpses of Demons were left behind, piled into gruesome mounds. The stench of blood hung thick in the air, filling the entire sky.

    ………………

    Meanwhile, inside Baihu City—

Li Xun and Li Ran led over two hundred thousand cultivators, sweeping aside all resistance with overwhelming force. Wherever they passed, demons of weaker cultivation were slaughtered to the last.

With perfect teamwork, Li Xun and Xie Lingtian commanded the army and in no time reclaimed two-thirds of Baihu City.

The Demon garrison fell back again and again. Any will to resist vanished as soon as they witnessed that sword strike.

With a single casual swing, Li Xun had split Baihu City—a city stretching for tens of millions of meters—straight down the middle. Every demon in the sword’s path was instantly obliterated.

Brunn and Bulin watched as their Demon warriors fell into panic. Terror filled every pair of eyes, bodies trembling uncontrollably as they retreated.

The brothers themselves, for all their pride, could only watch things spiral out of control. Facing the Human Race, their most prized techniques now seemed pitifully small.

Li Xun’s gaze swept over the retreating Demons. He thought to himself: Baihu City must have crucial Demon figures inside. If he could kill them, the Demons would be thrown into chaos.

If he teamed up with Xie Lingtian’s forces for an assault from inside and out, driving the Demons from Baihu City would be a sure thing. The more he thought about it, the more excited he became, and his attacks grew even fiercer.

On the other side of the city, Xie Lingtian watched Li Xun carve a bloody path. Pleased, he quickened his pace too, eager to seize the city.

As time wore on, the Human army pressed harder. Demon casualties mounted, and the faces of Brunn and Bulin turned grim.

They realized defeat was inevitable if things kept going this way, yet they couldn’t stomach abandoning Baihu City just like that.

While they wavered, Li Xun and Xie Lingtian led the Human army straight to the gates of the City Lord’s Mansion.

Seeing this, Brunn and Bulin knew it was over, but still refused to give up, ready for one last desperate fight.

Li Xun saw their stubborn determination and gave a contemptuous little laugh.

“Give it up. Lay down your arms and I promise you’ll die painlessly,” he called.

He knew these two were important Demon figures: If he killed them, it would devastate their morale.

After that, the rest of the Demon army would crumble like a house of cards, and Baihu City would be his for the taking.

Li Xun flashed a faint, confident smile. Sword in hand, he charged at Brunn and Bulin with a thunderous crash.

“Damn it!” Brunn and Bulin’s hearts clenched as Li Xun bore down on them. They knew they couldn’t match him, so they dodged for their lives.

But Li Xun moved blindingly fast, reaching them in a single blink. Faced with him, the brothers steeled themselves for a do-or-die stand.

“You may be strong, human, but we won’t just lie down for slaughter. If it comes to it, we’ll drag you down with us!” Bulin yelled.

Brunn clenched his jaw. “That’s right! Even if we die here, we’ll make sure you pay dearly for this city!”

Together, they shouted, “Humans, witness our resolve! Raging Tides—Annihilation Staff! Soaring Clouds—Thousand Shadow Blades!”

The brothers unleashed their ultimate techniques, launching themselves at Li Xun in a reckless bid for victory.

“Pathetic tricks. Come, accept your deaths!” Li Xun grinned as their attacks drew near.

With the lightest swing of his sword, a torrent of sword energy roared towards Brunn and Bulin, wiping out their attacks in an instant.

The overwhelming sword energy didn’t just neutralize their strongest techniques—it came hurtling straight for them.

    “Not good, fall back!”

The brothers’ faces blanched. Their pupils contracted in terror, every cell screaming at them: dodge or die!

They tried to evade, but there was no time. Helpless, they summoned their weapons, hoping to hold out.

But terror overtook them as sword energy sliced through their weapons and crashed into them.

Both brothers were hurled into the wall, clutching their chests as blood gushed from their mouths. Wide-eyed, they stared at the approaching Li Xun in shock.

“Damn you… Just how strong are you?!” Bulin cried, full of fear.

“It’s not fair… We were so close to winning. Why did it have to end like this!” Brunn groaned.
