Chapter 127: Xie Jinxuan’s Choice
by xennovelLi Xun strolled over to the two of them, casually picking up his sword and wiping it clean with two fingers. His face showed not a hint of warmth as he spoke in a calm, almost dismissive tone.
“Strange? I’m just stronger than you. Isn’t that obvious? Anyway, enough talk.”
“Time to send you both on your way!”
Li Xun stopped what he was doing, a savage gleam flashing in his eyes. With a flick of his arm, the sword quivered violently, unleashing a powerful pressure.
Brunn and Bulin scrambled to get up but their injuries were too severe. Their legs gave out, dropping them heavily to the ground again, faces twisted in terror.
“You worthless humans, keep away from the Marshals!”
A swarm of demon soldiers rushed over, fear forgotten as they shouted threats and gripped their weapons, leaping into the air and charging at Li Xun.
“Annoying.”
Li Xun turned to face the reckless demon crowd. With a sharp swing of his sword, the incoming demons were swept up in a blast of sword energy.
In its wake, they vanished into nothing. The already devastated Baihu City suffered even more—two slashes of explosive force split it into four sections.
Two bottomless chasms, thick smoke still pouring from them. Piles of bodies lined the edges, fresh blood dripping steadily down.
The scene was gut-wrenching. Any demons running to the rescue now were left paralyzed with fear, torn between saving their Marshals or making a break for their lives.
The Hundred Sects cultivators with Li Xun had finished off the stronger demon fighters by now and hurried over with excitement.
Seeing the aftermath, their shock was plain on their faces and, in their hearts, a silent sigh of relief.
Thank goodness Li Xun was on their side—if someone this powerful were an enemy, they’d be nothing but helpless prey.
But now with such strength fighting alongside them, how could they not be happy? With a reliable powerhouse, even the sky falling wouldn’t matter—they had someone to hold it up.
All they had to do was clean up after him, and each of them couldn’t help but feel secretly delighted. The Sky Sword Sect disciples, though, had long since gotten used to scenes like this.
The Sky Sword Sect team arrived, swords pressed to their chests as they stood behind Li Xun, cutting down every last demon who tried to join the fight.
………………
Elsewhere, on the outskirts of Baihu City.
Qiao Ling’er and Li Zai’an led over a hundred sword cultivators, answering Xie Lingtian’s call as they rushed toward where Xie Jinxuan and Xie Wanyi were.
Right now, Mo Yi was full of questions. Just a stick of incense ago, he’d heard a deafening noise from above—Baihu City must be in chaos. He hesitated, debating whether to go back.
But letting the Xie siblings escape was out of the question. Mo Yi’s expression darkened as he pulled out a razor-sharp battleaxe and closed in on the pair.
“Your time’s almost up. I’ll send you off now, I’m in a hurry!” Mo Yi snapped.
Xie Jinxuan glanced at Xie Wanyi trembling in terror beside him. Gritting his teeth, he struggled to his feet and stepped in front of her.
“Don’t be scared, Wanyi. As long as I’m here, I’ll never let him lay a finger on you—not even if it kills me!”
Ignoring Xie Wanyi’s desperate pleas, Xie Jinxuan pulled a Heaven and Earth Shield from his pocket and wrapped it tightly around her.
He turned to glare at Mo Yi, gripping his broken sword with all his might and roaring, “Come on, demon vermin! Let’s see just how far my resolve can go!”
“Still spouting nonsense at death’s door? I won’t let you live another second!” Mo Yi’s face was twisted with rage, battleaxe in hand, too furious to hold back.
The two clashed at breakneck speed, the ground beneath them sinking into deep pits, the air itself rupturing from the force of their blows.
Blades and axe swung back and forth, neither giving an inch. Blood streamed from a gash in Xie Jinxuan’s side but he barely noticed, launching another desperate counterattack.
His eyes burned red, veins bulging on his face as he spotted an opening and thrust the broken sword as hard as he could into Mo Yi’s massive body.
“You dare wound me? I’ll kill you for this!” Mo Yi roared, glancing down at the sword in his chest, his fury boiling over.
Mo Yi’s face contorted, veins popping as he yanked out the blade and then, with a sudden leap, kicked Xie Jinxuan square in the chest with all his strength.
Caught off guard, Xie Jinxuan took the kick full force, sent flying over ten meters before crashing down, one hand clutching his bloody chest.
He realized, in that moment, he was finished—his ribs were shattered, even lifting an arm felt impossible.
Summoning his last bit of strength, he barely managed to bend upright, eyes fixed with hatred on Mo Yi closing in.
Rage and unwillingness filled Xie Jinxuan’s gaze. He longed to stand and keep fighting, knowing if he fell, his sister would never make it out alive.
Xie Wanyi pounded desperately on the shield protecting her, sobbing, “Brother, take off the shield—let me fight beside you! You’ll die alone!”
Determined, Xie Wanyi hammered her fists at the barrier again and again, soon her delicate hands wet and smeared with blood.
The shield, solid as a mountain, didn’t budge. Blood streaked the surface where she hit, but not a single crack formed.
Seeing this, her spirit finally broke. She collapsed to the ground, legs numb, sobbing uncontrollably and blaming herself for her helplessness.
“Brother, it’s all my fault. What can I do to get us out of this mess?” Xie Wanyi pounded her mangled hands against the ground.
………………
Xie Jinxuan watched Mo Yi draw closer, his grim face twisting into a chilling smile.
“Demon scum, so what if I can’t fight back? As long as I’m breathing you’ll never touch my sister!”
“My cultivation can’t match yours, but even if I die today, I’ll drag you to the underworld with me!” Xie Jinxuan suddenly grabbed Mo Yi’s leg, his body swelling dangerously.
“No—this lunatic’s about to blow himself up!” Mo Yi screamed, terror on his face as he tried to flee, but his leg wouldn’t budge. Looking back, he saw Xie Jinxuan latched on in horror.
“Let go, you damn brat! I said LET GO!” Mo Yi kicked desperately at Xie Jinxuan’s arm.
Xie Jinxuan laughed wildly. “Figured it out now? Too late!”
Xie Wanyi wailed, voice raw and desperate, “No—don’t! Brother!”
Mo Yi went completely berserk, unable to kick Xie Jinxuan off his leg, and erupted into a howling rage.
“You bastard! Want to die? Don’t drag me with you! You’re insane!”
Under Xie Wanyi and Mo Yi’s horrified stares, Xie Jinxuan’s body swelled as if ready to explode.
