Chapter 130: Sweeping Away All Enemies
by xennovelA biting wind lashed against Xie Jinxuan, slowly snapping him back to reality. He watched the three still joking nearby, thought for a moment, then hopped down from his perch and joined them.
“Wanyi, you two, it’s about time. I’m worried about Father. Let’s head back, see how things stand, and lend a hand on the battlefield if needed.”
The three who’d been horsing around froze the moment they heard this. Thoughtful, they exchanged glances and nodded.
“You’re right, Brother. I’m getting worried about Father too,” Xie Wanyi admitted.
“Alright, let’s head out together then.” The group followed Xie Jinxuan, trailing eagerly behind as they hurried toward Baihu City.
Even though everyone in the group was used to death and battle, the carnage along the road made their skin crawl.
On the way to Baihu City, corpses lay everywhere. Not a single soul survived where they passed. Blood and gore painted a grisly, savage scene.
Not a single body was intact. Some corpses had lain out for over a day, their stench heavy, flocks of vultures and crows picking at the remains.
The ground beneath their feet was ruined, hot smoke rising all around. Unable to take it, the group stopped abruptly, then doubled over gagging from the stench.
It took a while for them to recover. Forcing down their nausea, the four pressed on toward Baihu City.
Reaching the east gate, they saw even more tragic sights.
Ruins stretched across the city. Smoke and silence filled the air, walls had crumbled, homes wrecked. Not a trace remained of its former splendor.
The streets were littered with bodies and debris. Blood mixed with mud, turning the ground into a nightmarish wasteland.
The faces of the dead were twisted in fear and despair as if crying out their final agony to the world.
Scenes like these cut deep. The group couldn’t begin to imagine what horrors these helpless people endured.
They understood—war was cruel, and the weak could only end up at the mercy of others.
But they had a mission: to avenge the victims, slaughter every invader, and restore peace to this land.
After what felt like ages, the group finally reached the inner gates of Baihu City. Once, the walls here looked strong and imposing.
Now, a monstrous force had split them in four, leaving only ruins. Beside the wreckage yawned a bottomless rift, belching thick black smoke.
Bones had piled up along both sides of the chasm, and the stench of rot made the group gag again.
A chilling atmosphere hung over the city, setting nerves on edge. Moving cautiously, they slipped inside—and found carnage even worse than outside.
Bodies littered the streets, most of them Baihu City’s civilians and cultivators.
They carried no wounds, but their faces were locked in terror. Souls shattered in an instant by unimaginable force—their deaths swift, yet horrific.
The group came to a halt, hearts shaken by rage and grief. After a silent glance, they sighed and pressed onward.
………………
Elsewhere—beneath the City Lord’s Mansion in Baihu City.
What once bustled with life was now destroyed. Not a single spot left whole.
In a giant crater smashed into a wall, two figures were embedded side by side—Brunn and Bulin.
Brunn and Bulin stared in despair as the Demon soldiers who rushed to save them were reduced to nothing but dust.
Two of the last survivors, they knew Baihu City’s ten million-strong Demon garrison had almost all been wiped out. If things were truly grim, the only ones left were the two of them.
“Reporting, Patriarch—the ten million Demon troops in Baihu City have all been wiped out,” Li Ran reported with a polite bow to Li Xun.
Li Xun replied coolly, “Not bad. You can go now. Stay alert in case the Demons from the other two cities retaliate.”
“As you command, Patriarch.” Li Ran saluted with cupped fists, then turned and left.
Bulin and Brunn burst out laughing. “Ha! It’s come to this—just us, alone in the end! Hahaha!”
“But don’t think we’ll go down so easily! Let me tell you, that’s not happening!” Bulin’s body started rapidly swelling.
Brunn sneered too. “That’s right, human! So what if we’re the only ones left? Let us show you our resolve!”
Side by side with Bulin, Brunn’s enormous body swelled with him, both on the brink of exploding.
Together they roared, “Let’s head to the afterlife together! Tiny humans, tremble in fear!”
“No, fall back!” Li Xun glanced at the pair and swung his arm out.
Everyone else panicked at the sight—faces blanched, people leapt into the air, scrambling to escape.
Bulin let out a crazed laugh. “Too late!”
With two thunderous blasts, their bodies detonated. Jet-black mushroom clouds soared into the sky, obliterating Baihu City in an instant.
Those with stronger cultivation barely managed to hold on by summoning protective shields, but suffered injuries all the same.
The weaker cultivators and Human soldiers perished instantly in the blast, wiped from existence.
Just as Xie Jinxuan’s group reached the inner city, they were stunned by the dark mushroom clouds rising in front of them. The storm of the explosion swept toward them like a wall.
Qiao Ling’er and Li Zai’an quickly summoned their strongest shields, locking the group inside. Xie Jinxuan reinforced the barrier with his own Heaven and Earth Shield, fortifying their defense.
A wave of explosions rolled through, thick smoke billowing in its wake. When the clouds finally lifted, the group stared around in horror—what was once the mighty Baihu City was now gone.
Nothing remained but empty land. Every building, every corpse had vanished without a trace.
It was like something had cleared everything away. Then, looking up, they saw numerous figures floating in the air ahead.
They all recognized someone among them, broke into smiles, and hurried forward with relief.
