Chapter 131: Kasa’s Wrath
by xennovelSuspended in the void, everyone who witnessed the shocking scene felt lucky just to be alive.
No one expected that the vast White Tiger City would be wiped off the map after the self-destruction of those two Demon Lords.
While they were still marveling at what had happened, someone nearby suddenly spotted several figures racing toward them through the thick fog below.
“Look, who are those people down there? Should we go check it out?” one person called out.
Another person hesitated, “No idea. Let’s just go down and see for ourselves.”
The others quickly agreed, “Alright, we’ll head down and find out if they’re friend or foe.”
After exchanging glances, the group nodded and began to descend slowly. When they landed, they deliberately turned their backs to the four approaching figures, putting on an air of mystery, and shouted.
“Halt! Who goes there? State your names!”
Hearing the demand, Xie Jinxuan and the other three stopped in their tracks, brows furrowing in caution.
“Jianwu Dynasty, First Prince Xie Jinxuan.”
“Jianwu Dynasty, Princess Xie Wanyi.”
“Sky Sword Sect Elder, Qiao Ling’er.”
“Sky Sword Sect Elder, Li Zai’an.”
Once the others heard that, they turned to look at one another, smiling as they stepped forward and shook hands with the four, eager to explain themselves.
The leading man grinned from ear to ear. “Ah, so it’s you! What a pleasure to meet you. This was all a big misunderstanding, please don’t take it to heart.”
“Haha, I said it before: At a time like this, how could there be any demon idiots left who’d come here looking for death?” An older cultivator stroked his goatee and laughed.
As everyone chatted, the shockwave from the two towering black mushroom clouds reached even Xuanwu City, which was just a stone’s throw away.
Cracks appeared in the stones along the city wall, yet it still held strong and unbroken.
On top of the wall floated a figure, his expression anxious as he looked toward the scene. It was Nangong Wentian.
He’d wanted to hurry over and help, but with Murong Qingxue’s strict order to hold his ground and avoid reckless moves, he stayed put.
Defending Xuanwu City to the death—meanwhile the Demon army seemed to understand and deliberately bypassed Xuanwu, destroying the other three cities instead.
Watching those three great cities go under, seeing millions of Human civilians and his old friends fall one after another, Nangong Wentian’s heart twisted with helpless sorrow.
He wanted—so badly—to fight. But facing such a vast horde, even with his Third-Level Sword Saint Realm, charging in was just suicide. If he tried, maybe he could take down a handful… but more likely, he’d die instantly, and then Xuanwu City would be defenseless.
All he could do was stand by, helpless, as millions of Human lives blinked out one by one—some rushing into the fight only to fall moments later. Their dying expressions would haunt him forever: rage, defiance, heartbreak, each face unique in its suffering.
Only after the final soul perished beneath the demon blades did Nangong Wentian snap back to himself, shaken to the core. Just as he thought the nightmare was finally over, something completely unexpected happened.
He never imagined that Xie Lingtian would personally lead a charge into battle. The difference in the two races’ approaches told Nangong Wentian this was a desperate gamble.
He felt both a flicker of hope and a fresh wave of anxiety. Hope, because the Human Royal Family wasn’t out of options yet. Worry, because if even the royal bloodline was wiped out here, the future for the Human Race would be even bleaker.
Sure enough, the battle played out as he feared. The Humans paid a terrible price and were pushed back at every turn. Just when it seemed all was lost—
Tangibly surprising even himself, Li Xun arrived with the Hundred Sects in support. For the first time in ages, Nangong Wentian smiled. With their arrival, the outcome of the war was clear.
And as expected, the battered remnants of the Demon armies were swiftly wiped out. As Nangong Wentian prepared to turn away, two towering black mushroom clouds blasted into the sky. He spun back around, stunned. The once-mighty White Tiger City was gone, erased from the world.
Reduced to nothing but ruins, Nangong Wentian was left worried and powerless to do anything.
………………
Meanwhile, far away in Qinglong City—
Inside the sprawling City Lord’s Mansion, a red carpet blanketed the floor and elegant décor graced every corner. The seats on both sides were packed with people.
At the center throne sat a strikingly handsome humanoid demon, one hand propping his forehead, eyes closed in a moment of rest.
This was none other than Kasa, final supreme commander of the fifty-million-strong Demon army.
Though the shockwaves from those two enormous mushroom clouds had made Kasa’s heart tremble, he soon dismissed it.
He figured the deployment of troops and high-level fighters in the other two cities would be enough to handle anything unexpected.
The brief peace was shattered by a shout as a messenger raced inside, stumbling to kneel at Kasa’s feet, face contorted in fear.
“Supreme Commander! Something terrible has happened at White Tiger City, where Marshals Bulin and Brunn were stationed!”
“What did you say?!” One of the Demon Lords, Kapu, leapt up, eyes blazing with disbelief.
Kasa opened his eyes slowly, his gaze razor-sharp as he fixed on the trembling messenger.
“Speak. What happened at White Tiger City?”
“It’s—it’s like this: The entire defending force at White Tiger City has been annihilated. Marshals Bulin and Brunn self-destructed and died on the battlefield.” The messenger gulped, hands shaking and voice quivering with fear.
Kapu stormed forward, grabbing the messenger by the throat. “Say that again! One more chance to tell the truth—because if you’re lying, I’ll kill you myself!”
The messenger shook so hard he could barely speak. “I swear I’m not lying! I saw it with my own eyes—the whole White Tiger City razed to the ground by the self-destruction of both Marshals.”
Kasa’s face darkened. “Kapu. Let him go.”
Gritting his teeth, Kapu released the messenger.
“You’re dismissed. Leave us,” Kasa waved him away.
“Yes, Supreme Commander!” Seeing he was spared, the messenger scrambled away as fast as he could.
“Damn it! I knew something felt wrong. So this is what happened! Those damn Humans—on the brink of death and still defiant! I’ll skin them alive, tear them to pieces!” Kasa shot to his feet, slamming his palm down and smashing the inkstone in front of him.
Kapu quickly stepped forward and bowed. “Supreme Commander, allow me to lead the army to White Tiger City and avenge Bulin, Brunn, and the ten million Demon warriors who perished!”
But Kasa ignored him, turning away and sighing as he asked, “Any word from Bulu or those two in black-and-white robes?”
The Demon Lords and Saints exchanged nervous glances, whispering among themselves, but after a while, nobody could give a clear answer.
“Supreme Commander, there’s still no word from Bulu’s group. We fear the worst.”
Kasa sneered. “No word? Don’t bother then—probably all dead! In just half a month, most of our top fighters are gone!”
“Enough! Send orders to Zhuque City immediately—rally the army. We march with me to wipe out every last Human stronghold and finish them once and for all!” With a sweep of his arm, Kasa made his command.
