Chapter Index

Xie Jinxuan led the last fifty thousand human soldiers and cultivators forward, their eyes set with unshakeable determination, as if declaring their courage and resolve to the world.

Step by step, they closed in on the Demon Race’s forces, drawing a tight circle around them, leaving no room for escape.

Xie Jinxuan shouted at the top of his lungs, “Your Supreme Commander is dead! Demons, throw down your arms and surrender, or your deaths will be anything but swift!”

Kapu and Kala stared at the advancing crowd closing in from all sides.

They knew full well that the human soldiers and cultivators now outnumbered them by far.

With the humans’ morale soaring and their fighting spirit unbreakable, the pressure pressing down on the demons was heavier than ever before.

Yet both Kapu and Kala looked down on the remaining human army, dismissing them as nothing more than chickens and stray dogs—hardly worth fearing.

But when they caught sight of Gu Xiaoyao’s silhouette among the humans, a deep and chilling fear surged within them.

They knew Gu Xiaoyao’s strength went far beyond ordinary understanding. The two of them together stood no chance.

Even so, neither was willing to accept defeat without a fight. How could anyone know the outcome if they didn’t struggle till the very end?

Kapu’s gaze turned icy. He realized the moment of life or death had arrived.

He took a deep breath and roared, “No, this isn’t over! Even if we die today, we’ll carve a bloody path out of here!”

Kala shot to his feet, defiance flashing in his eyes.

Brandishing his Butcher’s Blade at the humans, he snarled, “Soldiers, listen up! Swear to fight to the death—let’s drag them down with us in a final bloodbath!”

    “Kill! Kill them all!”

The thirty thousand demon soldiers who remained heard Kapu and Kala’s rallying cries. Courage and pride surged through their hearts.

They set aside their grief, tightened their grips on their weapons, and searched for even the weakest gap in the encirclement.

Everyone understood this was their last chance—if they couldn’t break through, they’d be walking straight to their graves.

In that instant, the Demon Race clashed with the humans and cultivators in a brutal, desperate fight.

Both sides fought with everything they had, desperate to grasp victory in this final melee.

The human side, with numbers on their side, pressed their attack hard and unrelenting.

The Demon Race relied on sheer willpower to withstand the onslaught, refusing to give an inch.

The fighting reached a fever pitch. Both armies paid a steep price in blood and lives.

Just as the battle looked deadlocked and the demons seemed poised to break through the siege—

Gu Xiaoyao made his move. In an instant, he became a streak of light, appearing in the heart of the demon army.

Raising the Extinction Sword, Gu Xiaoyao swept it in a wide arc. A crushing wave of sword energy tore through the demons.

The attack split the demon army in two.

Where that sword qi swept, nothing was left alive. The demons suffered devastating losses, chaos erupting in their ranks.

Kapu and Kala watched in horror, despair and helplessness filling their eyes.

They realized the truth—Gu Xiaoyao had wiped out their entire force single-handedly.

Unwilling to die without a fight, they struggled against their fate, but their strength was spent and hope was gone.

Meeting each other’s gaze in one final moment, Kapu and Kala made their choice.

Kala’s eyes were bloodshot as he howled, “Human, you may be powerful, but the two of us together aren’t without a fighting chance!”

“Exactly. We’ll use your head to honor the fallen warriors of the Demon Race!” Kapu barked.

They soared into the air, weapons blazing with terrifying power as they poured every last drop of cultivation—and even soul force—into their blades.

Kapu’s whole body burst into flames, the massive dagger before him emanating endless black energy.

“Soul-Burning Secret Art: Shadow Demon Strike!”

Kala followed close behind, his own body wreathed in black fire. A pair of invisible twin blades appeared, shrouded in dark smoke.

    “Soul-Burning Secret Art: Slaughtering All!”

Weapons in hand, the two became a single torrent of black flame, charging at Gu Xiaoyao.

Gu Xiaoyao responded calmly, putting away the Extinction Sword. At a thought, a colossal sword bathed in endless golden light appeared in his grip.

The moment it emerged, every sword on the ground began to hum and vibrate.

A steely look in his eyes, Gu Xiaoyao seized the massive sword, swung his arm and roared with force.

    “Divine Oracle: Annihilation!”

A surge of sword energy, carrying an overwhelming force, cut clean through Kapu and Kala, black flames and all—tearing open the heavens and earth behind them.

“How could this be… You’re this powerful? We can’t accept this!”

The two demons’ eyes were wide with terror as they let out one last roar. Their gigantic forms faded away, erased in the darkness.

Gu Xiaoyao turned away, his expression calm as he slid the Skydome Sword behind his back, gazing down at the few demon survivors still struggling to their feet. His voice boomed like thunder.

“Your commanders are dead. Drop your weapons and accept your fate, or face annihilation!”

    “What?!”

The only surviving Demon Saint, Lami, led the last twenty thousand Demon Sovereigns. They halted, eyes wide with terror as they fixed their gaze on Gu Xiaoyao.

As they looked around, they realized their commanders had vanished—now, they were nothing more than fish on the chopping block.

Lami raised his dagger at Gu Xiaoyao and burst into frantic laughter. “Ha! And you think you’re fit to accept our surrender? Even if we die here, we’ll never kneel!”

“We may have lost, but soon you’ll face the wrath of our king! Hahaha! Humans, your doom is upon you!”

With fearless smiles, Lami and his twenty thousand Demon Sovereigns shot into the sky, weapons aimed straight at Gu Xiaoyao as they rushed him together.

“Enough! How stubborn can you get?”

Gu Xiaoyao brought the Skydome Sword in front of him, brushing two fingers swiftly across its blade.

The blade spun, flashing with pure white moonlight as Gu Xiaoyao darted through the air, sword in hand.

Lami and his twenty thousand followed, only to feel something whip past them at lightning speed.

Just as panic flashed in their eyes, they spun around to see Gu Xiaoyao motionless behind them. Before a word could leave their lips—

They exploded into dazzling fireworks across the night sky. Fleeting as they were, nothing could compare to their final beauty.

Gu Xiaoyao didn’t bother to look back at the bursts of light. With a flourish, he spun his sword, then quietly tucked it away.
