Chapter Index

Gu Xiaoyao paid no heed to the scattered remains of the Ghost Face Boar on the ground. His steps were firm and resolute as if he were crossing an invisible chasm.

A faint smile played on his lips as he took a single step forward. His figure grew more ethereal with each moment, and in the blink of an eye, he had ascended to the 2,200th level.

From the 2,000th to the 2,200th level, only Ghost Face Boars roamed. Their numbers had doubled, but they remained fundamentally weak, each falling to a single strike of his blade.

These Ghost Face Boars posed no threat to Gu Xiaoyao. His swordsmanship was ghostly, every strike landing with deadly precision on their vital points.

There was no trace of pity in his eyes, only a deep respect for life and unshakable confidence in his own strength.

From the 2,200th to the 2,400th level, the enemies shifted to Ground Lurker Ghosts. Winged and far stronger, their numbers were overwhelming. They had a terrifying ability to unsettle the mind and spewed a purple mist that heavily obscured vision.

These Ground Lurker Ghosts gave Gu Xiaoyao some trouble. Their attack patterns were unpredictable, and their sheer numbers made evasion nearly impossible.

Yet Gu Xiaoyao refused to let these creatures cloud his mind. He kept repeating to himself that he must not lose his focus.

As long as he stayed calm, he was certain he’d find a way to defeat them. After a long period of probing and testing, he finally uncovered their weakness.

Gu Xiaoyao discovered their Achilles’ heel—their wings. Without them, the Ground Lurker Ghosts were rendered completely immobile.

A slight smirk curved on his face. With a flick of his wrist, the twin swords in his hands unleashed hundreds of razor-sharp blades, slicing through the creatures’ wings and stripping them of flight.

Deprived of their wings, the Ground Lurker Ghosts plummeted heavily to the ground, helpless and at his mercy. Even as they struggled feebly, their fate was sealed.

In the terrified eyes of the creatures, Gu Xiaoyao moved like lightning. Each swing of his sword claimed a life, his gaze brimming with resolve and confidence as if declaring to the world that he would crush every obstacle underfoot.

Gu Xiaoyao didn’t linger. Seizing his momentum, he pressed onward, ascending several levels in one go.

From the 2,400th to the 2,600th level, he faced Golden-Silver Eagles. Massive in size and limited to just ten in number, they were incredibly tough. Their thick hides, razor-sharp claws, and hard feathers—split between gold and silver hues—made them formidable foes.

These Golden-Silver Eagles presented an unprecedented challenge to Gu Xiaoyao. Their sheer size made dodging their attacks impossible.

Their claws were too sharp to block, and their feathers too hard to penetrate, leaving him at a disadvantage no matter how he struck.

Even unleashing his full arsenal, Gu Xiaoyao couldn’t gain the upper hand. The battle reached a tense stalemate.

The Golden-Silver Eagles mocked him relentlessly. “Give up, human. I am the god of this place. A mere ant like you dreams of becoming a god? Your journey ends here!”

Gu Xiaoyao ignored their taunts, focusing instead on observing them closely. He noticed something—their eyes didn’t seem as impervious as the rest of their bodies.

Each time he swung his sword, the eagles instinctively shielded their eyes.

A booming laugh escaped Gu Xiaoyao. “You call yourselves gods, you wretched beasts? Dare to block my path? Are you prepared to die?!”

“Human, you’re too arrogant. Die!” Enraged, one of the Golden-Silver Eagles spread its massive wings and soared into the air, lunging straight at Gu Xiaoyao.

“Perfect timing. Let’s test if my hunch is right!” Gripping his twin swords, Gu Xiaoyao leaped into the air to meet the beast head-on.

Man and eagle clashed in an instant. Gu Xiaoyao deliberately held back, striking only at the feathers with each swing.

“Human, are you just tickling me?” The Golden-Silver Eagle burst into mocking laughter, its guard dropping.

“Beast, I’ve been waiting for this. Die!” With a cold sneer, Gu Xiaoyao thrust his twin swords with sudden ferocity. In a flash, the blades pierced through the eagle’s eyes.

Caught off guard, the Golden-Silver Eagle fell dead on the spot.

The remaining nine eagles roared in fury. “Damn you, treacherous human! We’ll kill you!”

    “Die!” they bellowed.

Fueled by rage, the nine Golden-Silver Eagles flapped their enormous wings and took to the sky, intent on tearing Gu Xiaoyao apart.

Gu Xiaoyao offered no reply. Instead, he answered with his twin swords. A sudden, devastating strike left the nine eagles dazed, unable to tell up from down.

His twin swords danced like a dragon in the heavens, paired with his ghostly figure weaving swiftly among the eagles.

His strikes were swift, precise, and ruthless. In mere moments, before they could even react, all nine eagles had their eyes pierced through, collapsing heavily to the ground, lifeless.

Gu Xiaoyao turned with a flourish, his gaze devoid of warmth. “Villains die from talking too much. How fitting. I’m feeling a bit hungry anyway—your corpses will serve as fuel.”

Approaching one of the fallen Golden-Silver Eagles, he didn’t hesitate. He carved off a pair of massive legs, cleaned them, and snapped his fingers.

A small flame sparked to life, quickly roaring into a fierce blaze. Soon, the eagle legs were roasted to perfection—crispy on the outside, tender within, and bursting with aroma.

Gu Xiaoyao grabbed a leg and devoured it ravenously, marveling at the taste. It was unlike anything he’d ever eaten before.

In no time, he polished off the remaining legs, still craving more. He glanced at the leftover carcasses but, already full, decided to rest briefly.

Then, he resumed his journey along the Divine Path, pressing toward its end. He sought to uncover the origin of this world and achieve the legendary status of a god.

From the 2,600th to the 2,800th level, he encountered Viscous Jellies. Bizarre and nauseating in appearance, they resembled gelatin and had chameleon-like camouflage. Clinging to the sides of the Divine Path, they were nearly impossible to spot without close inspection.

Lying in wait, they were ready to ambush any challenger ascending the Divine Path, striking with deadly surprise.

But their plans were futile. Reality shattered their dreams. Gu Xiaoyao found it too tedious to clear them level by level. Gripping his Skydome Sword, he made his move.

    “Divine Edict: Solar Flare Impact!”

A colossal beam of light erupted, exploding upward along the Divine Path. It didn’t stop until it reached the 2,800th level.

The beam obliterated every hidden trap and scheme in its path. Wherever the light touched, the ground turned to scorched earth, a desolate silence reigning. The Viscous Jellies were reduced to ash, vanishing completely.

Gu Xiaoyao felt the oppressive pressure of the Divine Path vanish entirely. His journey upward was now unimpeded, with not a shred of resistance remaining.

The only dangers left were sudden attacks from extraterrestrial beings and the unknown entities guarding the path’s end.
