Chapter Index

Molly looked at Mo Fei’s current state and couldn’t help but feel exasperated. A glint of cold fury flashed in her eyes as she gripped both swords, turned to the side, and pointed one blade at the humans gathered before her.

She shouted, “All troops, hear my command! Wipe out every last one of these resisting humans!”

The demon soldiers behind Molly broke into sinister grins when they heard the order. As one, they spread the wings on their backs.

A dark, suffocating aura suddenly burst from their weapons, swirling with endless black energy. Roaring with rage, they charged forward.

In the next instant, it was as if a shower of black sesame seeds poured down from the sky, blanketing the humans below.

“Not good, counterattack!” Xie Jinxuan’s pupils contracted sharply as he gripped his sword and swept his arm forward.

The human soldiers behind Xie Jinxuan weren’t fazed by terror or shock. A look of grim resolve flashed across every face.

With a metallic clang, hundreds of thousands of swords were drawn at the same time.

“Brothers, wipe out these demons! The time for revenge has come!” A leading general surged ahead of the others.

The two armies collided in a dazzling explosion of steel. Sparks flew as weapons clashed all around.

Powerful shockwaves rippled outward, threatening the buildings below with every massive impact.

The structures beneath them were already in ruins. The powerless civilians had no chance to escape and died in the aftermath.

Many soldiers who hadn’t even grasped what was happening were cleaved in two by sudden, brutal strikes. Blood mingled with viscera and intestines as it poured onto the ground.

Soon, blood had stained the land below a deep, ominous red.

    Bang! Bang! Bang!—

Bodies plummeted from the sky one after another, landing hard on the charred earth. Most died with their eyes open, filled with bitter regret.

The gap in numbers and size became painfully obvious. Demons kept pouring in, while the humans suffered heavy casualties.

Those still able to resist could be counted on one hand. Of the two hundred thousand cultivators brought by the Hundred Sects, those with lower cultivation had already been wiped out.

After the brutal clash, only a few hundred humans remained floating in the void, completely unharmed. All human soldiers had perished.

Among the hundred sects, only the strongest—Sky Sword Sect—still retained the strength to fight.

The other ninety-nine sects, apart from the top ten veteran sects, had their elders and leaders gravely wounded, unable to battle any longer.

The remaining ninety sects and all their disciples had fallen where they stood.

But even as human cultivators fought desperately, even resorting to self-destruction, they intended to take every last demon with them.

As for the demon side, out of the ten million-strong army they’d brought, just one self-detonation by a Sword Emperor could instantly take out over a hundred thousand Demon Monarchs.

Facing such suicidal charges, nine million demons fell in an instant, leaving only a million surviving.

Meanwhile, Lin Mo, watching it all unfold, was awed by the humans’ courage. He turned to stand beside Murong Qingxue.

“Murong girl, I’ll admit the courage of your people is impressive, but it still falls short of what’s needed!” Lin Mo stood with his hands clasped behind him atop the wall.

Murong Qingxue had barely emerged from her grief over the annihilation of the humans before Lin Mo’s mocking voice cut through.

An overwhelming mix of sorrow and rage made her lose control and lash out.

“Lin Mo, you monster, you beast! If you have any guts, let me go and face me in single combat!”

“Murong girl, you wish for too much. Letting you go is out of the question—I worked hard to capture you, and I’m not looking for more trouble!” Lin Mo turned to look at her, voice cold.

At the same time, Molly watched her people fall one after another, her rage boiling over as she threw all care for appearances aside.

Her once delicate features grew monstrous, body swelling several times over. Thick scales covered her skin and her wings became massive.

“Demon warriors, follow me! Let’s crush them together!” Molly took the lead and dove toward the handful of humans.

The remaining million demons, led by Mo Fei, pressed close behind her, weapons gripped tight as they rushed the last hundred floating humans.

They swept forward at frightening speed, determined to wipe them out in a single strike—even if it meant exhausting them to death.

Seeing this, Xie Jinxuan, Xie Wanyi, Xie Lingtian and Nangong Wentian felt a shiver run through their hearts.

They all knew that while they held higher cultivation than their enemies, their spiritual power was almost depleted. If this kept up, they’d be dragged to their deaths.

Injured sect masters and elders from Frost Palace, Ten Thousand Beast Sect, Vast Sea Sect, Azure Profound Sect, Heavenfire Gate and Clear Water Sect gazed at the battlefield.

They exchanged a smile, ready to face death together, pouring every last bit of spiritual and physical strength into one final attack—self-detonation.

Just as those floating in the air prepared to act, bursts of laughter echoed below. Suddenly, more than twenty figures streaked past them straight toward the demon army.

“Frost Palace elders, hear my order! For the peace of the human race, someone must make a sacrifice. Since we can fight no longer, our final value is to take them to the underworld with us!”

“Hahaha, all elders of Ten Thousand Beast Sect, hear my command! It’s time for us old men to burn our last bit of energy!” the Ten Thousand Beast Sect Leader roared with laughter.

“Vast Sea Sect elders, follow my order! Even if we meet our end here today, we betray neither heaven nor the human race, and never our sect—we have no regrets!”

“Old men of Azure Profound Sect, let’s raise a ruckus today and earn the young ones a final chance—ha!”

“Hah, who’d have thought Heavenfire Gate, proud and selfish for so many years, would one day sacrifice for humanity! The irony is rich. Come, old men, let’s show them the strength of our resolve!”

“Clear Water Sect elders, on my mark—defend every inch of our homeland! Even if we die, tear their flesh apart!”

All the elders responded as one: “We swear to follow our sect masters! Let’s meet again on the road to the underworld!”

“Hahahahaha!” Their laughter rang out as twenty-some figures burst into fireballs, streaking toward the incoming demonic army.

    Bang! Bang! Bang!—

Those twenty-odd figures, their laughter echoing, turned into brilliant fireworks and vanished forever from the world.

Caught off guard by the self-detonations of powerful Sword Saints and Sword Emperors, the remaining million demons were destroyed in an instant.

Only ten Demon Saints, one Demon Sovereign and eighty-nine Demon Monarchs reacted in time and barely escaped disaster.

Staring at his kin vanishing one after another, Mo Fei was past the point of shock and erupted in a furious roar.

“You damned humans! Why can’t you simply die quietly? Why must you keep fighting, again and again?!”

“Enough talk, kill them!” Another Demon Saint’s face twisted as he raised his blade and charged.

“Noisy!” a cold voice rang out.

With a boom, that Demon Saint turned into brilliant fireworks and vanished from sight, right before everyone’s eyes.

The next Demon Saint gasped at the sight but still refused to back down.

“Demon warriors, follow me—slaughter them all! Avenge our fallen kin!” he bellowed.

The eighty-nine Demon Monarchs exchanged glances and reached a silent agreement.

    “That’s right, kill them all!”

    “Slaughter!”

The eighty-nine Demon Monarchs stepped forward at once, weapons gleaming, and surged toward the remaining humans like streaks of light.

Li Xun and Li Ran didn’t so much as flinch. They drew their swords and, as if it were effortless, unleashed a single graceful strike.

The twin sword beams carried the might of nature itself, slicing through the ninety charging demons like arrows.

    “How is this possible?!”

All ninety stared down at their bodies, their eyes wide with shock and disbelief.

    Boom! Boom! Boom!—

Still wearing those stunned expressions, their bodies exploded one by one, following the path of those who came before.

All that remained were more dazzling fireworks, adding bright colors to the world.
