Chapter 155: After This Sword, The World Shall Know Me No More
by xennovelA massive explosion sent a thick cloud of smoke billowing across the sky.
When the smoke cleared, two figures still stood in the Void. Lin Mo had effortlessly blocked the attack, barely lifting a finger.
Qiao Ling’er jumped in fright at the roar of the blast. She spun around and froze when she saw what had happened.
“E-Everyone, how could this be happening?” Qiao Ling’er’s face had turned as pale as a ghost, terror written all over her.
Xuanyuan Ling, rushing over, arrived just in time to see the aftermath. Her legs gave out and she collapsed on the ground, mumbling to herself.
“An Muran, Mo Lin, Luo Sen, Li Ran… Why were you all so foolish? You knew it was a death sentence! Why did you still charge ahead?”
“Hah! I’m going to avenge everyone!”
Xuanyuan Ling grabbed her weapon, ready to leap, but someone rushed over and pulled her back with a tight embrace.
“Ling’er, calm down!” Lu Jingquan held Xuanyuan Ling tightly, refusing to let go.
“Calm down? How am I supposed to calm down right now?! Let me go!” Xuanyuan Ling snapped, giving Lu Jingquan a sharp glare.
Li Zai’an carried the gravely wounded and unconscious An Peisheng over, landing beside the others. When he saw how downcast everyone looked, concern filled his eyes.
An Peisheng tried to make sense of the mood. “What happened here? Why does everyone look so defeated?”
“A few minutes ago, An Muran, Mo Lin, Luo Sen, and Li Ran fell. Not even their bodies remain.” Lu Tingxue answered, her voice numb and hollow.
An Peisheng’s eyes went wide with shock. “What?! Who did this? I’ll make them pay!”
Across from them, Lin Mo watched, finding their pain somewhat amusing. He strode over with a smirk.
“Looking for me? Sorry to disappoint you, but they chose their fate. They ran to their deaths all on their own—don’t pin it on me.” Lin Mo chuckled.
An Peisheng trembled with rage. “You bastard! I’m going to tear you apart for what you did to my brothers!”
He charged forward, but before he could close in, noises behind him made him pause and look back.
Cough, cough, cough—
Still badly wounded, Li Xun slowly regained consciousness thanks to the combined efforts of Lu Tingxue and Qiao Ling’er. After half a stick of incense’s time, Li Xun finally woke up.
Xie Jinxuan, Xie Lingtian, Xie Wanyi, and Nangong Wentian hurried to Li Xun’s side the moment he opened his eyes, bombarding him with anxious questions.
“Sect Master Li, are you alright? How’s your recovery going?” Xie Jinxuan asked urgently.
Xie Lingtian’s face was pale with worry. “Yeah, Sect Master, how are your injuries? I have some bad news—while you were unconscious, four elders of the Sky Sword Sect passed away.”
“Sigh. We all wanted to help, but both enemies are at the Divine Realm. With our measly strength, we’d be throwing eggs at stone—dying for nothing.” Nangong Wentian let out a heavy sigh.
The group fell into mournful silence, their memories weighed down by grief.
Meanwhile, Lin Mo, sensing the heaviness in the air, actually decided to give everyone a moment to breathe. Around then, Molly, missing both her arms, limped over with a menacing look.
“You all pick now to reminisce? Do you not see the enemy right in front of you? What’s the point of exposing your weaknesses like this? Or have you just given up and accepted death?” Molly bellowed.
“You damned Demon Race! You dare show your face here? I’ll kill every last one of you, for my fallen brothers and sisters!” Lu Tingxue’s eyes blazed as she glared at Molly.
“That’s right! Let’s kill her and avenge those we’ve lost!” The others shouted in agreement.
“Kill!”
Several figures sprung into the sky.
But just as quickly, a mysterious force dragged them from midair and pulled them back to the ground.
Everyone stared in confusion at the one responsible—Li Xun!
“Sect Master, why are you stopping us? Let us go! We have to avenge them!” Xuanyuan Ling struggled furiously.
“Yeah, Brother Li Xun, why did you lock us down? We need to fight!” Qiao Ling’er pleaded, bewildered.
Li Xun offered no explanation. Under their gazes, he stepped forward and walked to their backs.
“Your Majesty, Brother Nangong… I’ll leave them in your care. Once I’m gone, you’ll need to lead everyone far from here.” Li Xun glanced back one last time.
“Alright. We understand.” The group nodded, their agreement heavy with unspoken worry.
Lu Tingxue cried out, her voice raw, “Brother Li Xun, what are you doing? Let us fight with you, side by side!”
“She’s right, Sect Master! Every extra hand matters!” Li Zai’an twisted desperately, trying to break free.
Their eyes went wide with panic, filled with hope Li Xun might reconsider, but before they could plead further, sleep washed over them and they collapsed.
Seizing the moment while Lin Mo was distracted, Li Xun darted past him, snatching up Murong Qingxue, then blinked back to where he’d started.
He gently laid Murong Qingxue and the unconscious Sky Sword Sect members on the ground.
“I’m entrusting them to you!” Li Xun shouted before launching himself forward like a streak of lightning.
Nangong Wentian and the others didn’t waste time. They bundled up Murong Qingxue and the rest, quickly fleeing the area.
Lin Mo stared Li Xun down with a mocking sneer.
“A lone human stands before me? You’re not scared? I’m at the very peak of the Demon God Realm—one stomp and the heavens tremble!”
“From what I see, you’re just a Ninth Level Sword Saint. Not even started climbing the Divine Path! What makes you think you, a mere ant, can stand before a god?”
Suddenly, Li Xun threw his head back in wild laughter. “One pitiful soul in the world is enough—let it be me, Li Xun!”
“What if I become a god myself?”
“Heaven, I know you’re listening. Today, I, Li Xun, offer up eternal exile from reincarnation—my body and soul for all time—in exchange for just a brief moment in the legendary God Realm!”
He raised his sword toward the sky as flames erupted from him, his body burning away until even his hair flew wild.
A booming voice rang down from above.
“Granted!”
A torrent of golden light surged into Li Xun, and in a blink his aura skyrocketed. His wounds vanished completely.
A massive violet disc appeared behind him—the mark of a being who’d set foot in the God Realm.
Lin Mo watched, even more amused now. He sized up Li Xun with a hint of admiration.
“Now this is interesting! Let’s see which comes first—can you defeat me, or will your mortal body tear itself apart from all that power?”
“Curious to find out? Then come, see for yourself!” Li Xun flicked his finger along his sword’s edge.
“You’re not even worth my king’s time. Let me handle you!” Molly stepped forward, glaring daggers at Li Xun.
“Enough of your noise. I’ll start with you!” Li Xun’s hand stopped, eyes turning icy.
A bolt of violet light flashed across the heavens. A blade of pure energy cleaved Molly clean in two.
“How… how could this be?” Terror froze on Molly’s face as she died, breath and voice snuffed out at once.
Clap, clap, clap—
Lin Mo began to applaud.
“I admit, you’ve got some real power. Worthy of my attention, at least. I hope you’re stronger than Murong Jianbai was 8,000 years ago.”
“Otherwise, you won’t even need me to make a move. Your body will explode long before that godly power burns out!”
Li Xun threw his head back in mad laughter.
“What does it matter? I only need one strike!”
“This sword is the Godslayer!”
“In this swing I’ll pour out every last drop of my power. I may die instantly, body and soul, but so what? Hahaha!”
“After this sword, humanity will have a moment of peace!”
“After this sword, I, Li Xun, will vanish from this world!”
With that, Li Xun poured everything he had into the Godslayer Sword. Purple lightning surged across the heavens, pouring into his body.
Bang—
Li Xun’s blade shot straight at Lin Mo’s forehead. Everything in its path flattened, even the Vault of Heaven and the Sword Qi Continent below.
It was all split clean in two by that one strike.
As the end drew near, a faint smile lingered on Li Xun’s face. His eyes were already dull, but his hand still gripped the Godslayer Sword, the tip unwaveringly aimed between Lin Mo’s brows.
