Chapter 173: Mercy Sword: Resurrection of the Six Monsters
by xennovel“Haha, just how many people as strong as you are out there?” Tang San chuckled at himself while looking at Liu Ruyan.
Liu Ruyan paused for a moment, then said, “There are plenty stronger than me. Honestly, I’m probably the weakest here. But why even ask?”
“The weakest, huh… I never thought that as a God King, I’d cross into a new world and still lose to the first cultivator I meet here.”
“So, are we still going to fight or not? If we’re done, my husband’s waiting for me. I might head out first…”
Feeling a little impatient, Liu Ruyan raised a finger and pointed to the sky.
Tang San lifted his gaze to meet Liu Ruyan’s, thinking to himself, Fight? With what? My entire aura is a mess right now.
His body was wracked with spiritual energy, soul power and divine force all tangled together. If he couldn’t adapt to the cultivation methods of this world soon, he’d explode from within.
Tang San halted at that thought, let out a sigh and said, “No point in fighting anymore. All the power I have is useless here. This match doesn’t mean anything now.”
Liu Ruyan hesitated, then replied, “Well, if that’s the case, I’ll get going then. Bye!”
Up above, Yan Yi waved his hand and, in a blink, Liu Ruyan vanished from the stage and reappeared in the sky.
A thunderous applause erupted from the crowd, everyone cheering for the duel just finished.
“All right, Lian’er, our work here is done. My husband and I are off to enjoy some time together…”
Standing beside Yan Yi, Liu Ruyan reached out to pat Nangong Lin’s head, pausing for a moment.
“By the way, Lian’er, when are you and Young Master Gu planning to finally get married? It’s been years—you’ll have kids running around before you tie the knot!”
“And you two haven’t shown any signs yet either. That won’t do! Marriage is a major milestone for any girl. Trust me, you should give it serious thought!”
Nangong Lin heaved a sigh. “There’s still time, no hurry. I’m only at the third level of Sword Saint Realm, and he’s already a Peerless Sword God.”
“If we’re going to marry, I should at least reach Sword God Realm, right? Otherwise, people would say I’m dragging him down. I’ll think about it after I improve.”
Yan Yi wrapped Liu Ruyan in a gentle hug, doting as ever. He laughed and said, “Yan’er, let’s not meddle in their business so much. I believe Lian’er has her own plan. Besides, when are we having our own baby?”
“Stop it! Lian’er’s still right here,” Liu Ruyan squealed, playfully pushing Yan Yi away before glancing at Nangong Lin out of the corner of her eye.
“Lian’er, looks like it’s time for us to head out. Next time we meet, I’m hoping for some good news from you two!”
“Let’s hope so. See you, Sister Ruyan!”
Nangong Lin lifted her hand and waved at them both.
Whoosh!
Yan Yi and Liu Ruyan vanished from sight.
Nangong Lin sighed softly, then disappeared in a flash herself.
……………
On the dueling platform.
After wrestling with his thoughts, Tang San made a firm decision—he would have to learn how to cultivate in this world!
But if he wanted to join a new faction, Heavenly Martial Sacred Land was clearly the best choice.
With this in mind, Tang San stepped forward to the edge of the host’s platform and looked up at the group before him.
“As agreed, I lost. Anything you want to ask, if I know the answer, I’ll tell you everything.”
Nangong Wentian and his group leapt to their feet, faces lit up with excitement as they looked at Tang San.
Nangong Wentian cleared his throat and asked, “May I ask, which world do you come from? And how exactly did you cross the spacetime tunnel to get here?”
Tang San hesitated for a second, then said, “I come from a world known as Douluo Continent. That world has soul beasts and soul masters.”
“Our cultivation relies on soul power, acquiring soul rings and soul bones by defeating soul beasts. Following this path, one can become a Titled Douluo, or even a God!”
“Six people fell into this world with me—my loved one and friends. Back then, we had all become gods!”
“One day, for reasons unknown, the God Realm collapsed. Chaos swept the world and a spacetime storm destroyed Douluo Star and the God Realm.”
“Everything was sucked into the spacetime tunnel. The rest of us were dragged along and, by accident, ended up in this world!”
“But aside from me, the others couldn’t survive the turbulence of the tunnel. Before they could escape, they’d already perished…”
“That’s how things are. I’ve told you everything you wanted to know.”
Nangong Wentian and the other leaders of the Eight Sacred Lands stood stunned, completely floored by Tang San’s story.
Other ascended worlds might have slightly different cultivation systems, but they all relied on spiritual energy—there wasn’t much real difference.
Everyone subconsciously assumed all worlds cultivated with spiritual energy.
But the system Tang San described from Douluo Continent was unheard of—tying soul power to soul beasts challenged everything they knew.
Their minds hit a complete wall.
On the stage, Tang San watched the group above as they mulled it over.
“May I ask the Holy Master of Heavenly Martial Sacred Land for a favor?” He gritted his teeth, cupped his hands, and bowed deeply.
Nangong Wentian snapped out of his daze and answered quickly, “Ask away! If it’s within my power, you have my word!”
“Great!” Tang San’s eyes lit up. After a moment’s thought, his voice grew sincere.
“I know the cultivation path from my old world is useless here, so I wish to join Heavenly Martial Sacred Land and start over. I hope you’ll accept me!”
Nangong Wentian stared, for a moment doubting his own ears.
Only after a few whispered reminders from those beside him did he snap back to himself.
He cleared his throat. “Of course! Fellow cultivator, your request is granted.”
“Thank you, Holy Master!” Tang San bowed again, deep gratitude in his eyes.
Right after he spoke, a flicker of sadness crossed Tang San’s face. He sighed, “It’s just a shame about my friends and my loved one…”
Noticing the change in Tang San’s expression, Nangong Wentian sighed and asked,
“By the way, have your friends and loved one been dead for more than twenty-four hours? If not, there may still be hope for them!”
Tang San blinked, shock giving way to joy. “Holy Master, are you serious?”
“Mm,” Nangong Wentian nodded.
With Nangong Wentian’s answer, Tang San lit up inside.
“Wonderful! They’ve been gone less than five hours. Holy Master, please, could you help them?”
“I’m not the one who can bring back the dead. I just don’t have that power.”
“What? Holy Master, don’t tell me you’re tricking me!”
“I truly can’t revive the dead, but there is someone who can. Saint Gu, I’ll leave it to you!”
“Naturally!”
A voice echoed throughout the heavens.
In the next instant, a figure tore open the void and stepped forward, another dazzling figure right behind.
It was Gu Qingyi and Xuyan, master and servant both.
When Tang San saw Gu Qingyi, his heart clenched—he felt an overwhelming power and pressure like never before.
Just as Tang San was stunned—
“Great mercy and great compassion. Mercy Sword, summon the departed souls to return to the world of the living!”
The Mercy Sword shot from Gu Qingyi’s hand, hovering perfectly above the six corpses.
A vast surge of light swept across the space.
Where six icy corpses once lay, a faint spark of life began to stir.
Their eyelashes trembled, then, one by one, the six monsters sat up groggily, scratching their heads and looking around in confusion.
