Chapter 183: Searching for Blackwater Prison
by xennovelGu Qingyi shot to his feet, forcing down his anger and taking a deep breath.
“Mother, now that I’ve learned Father’s whereabouts, I promise—no matter how far he is, I’ll bring him back safely!”
As soon as Gu Qingyi finished, Shen Yue and Gu Qingxiao stared at him in shock. He turned gracefully, taking a few steps toward the door before suddenly pausing.
“Don’t worry, Mother. As for those two fiends who hurt you, I swear I’ll take their heads.”
“Dahuang, let’s go!”
“Woof!”
Dahuang leapt swiftly onto Gu Qingyi’s shoulder.
“Swoosh!”
In a flash, Gu Qingyi’s figure vanished without a trace.
A while later.
Inside the room, Gu Qingxiao snapped out of her shock. She lifted her delicate gaze, searching the room, but the familiar figure was nowhere to be seen.
Suddenly spotting Shen Yue standing outside the door, she asked, bewildered,
“Mom, where did Brother go?”
Shen Yue lifted her eyes to the clear blue sky outside, letting out a sigh. “Your brother… he should already be gone from the Sword Qi Continent…”
“Huh?” Gu Qingxiao blinked. “But outside the Sword Qi Continent is the Cosmic Void. There are countless alien races out there! Can Brother really bring Father back safely?”
Shen Yue smiled, her eyes curving like a crescent moon. “Xiao’er, your brother isn’t who he used to be. He just might succeed in bringing your father home.”
……………
At the edge where the Sword Qi Continent met the Cosmic Void, a lone figure and a dog stood before an endless sea-like barrier blocking their way.
Right then, the barrier began to quiver ever so slightly.
Gu Qingyi eyed the barrier and snorted. “So, are you going to open up on your own, or do I have to smash my way through?”
“No way! I’m the will of Heaven, sent here to keep this barrier sealed. If you break through, the whole continent could fall into chaos!”
“Oh really? Well, that’s not the answer I wanted to hear.”
Gu Qingyi raised his fist, large as a sandbag, ready to let it fly.
“Wait, wait! Alright, I give up! I’ll open the gate! Just calm down!”
The will of Heaven shakily cracked open a door in the barrier.
“Not bad. You know how to pick your battles. Makes my job easier!” Gu Qingyi lowered his fist.
“Dahuang, let’s go!”
“Woof!”
“Whoosh whoosh!”
Man and dog shot into the newly opened door.
Once Gu Qingyi and Dahuang were inside, the will of Heaven let out a heavy sigh, closing the door behind them as if nothing had happened.
……………
Beyond the endless expanse of the Cosmic Void, everything was pitch-black—a bottomless abyss.
Only a handful of stars flickered dimly here and there, casting a faint but mysterious glow.
Within this vast darkness, countless massive stones floated at random, hanging in silence like lonely planets.
Suddenly, a gigantic crack tore open the calm of the Void.
In a flash, two figures shot out like lightning, trailing powerful gusts as they broke through.
One of them was Gu Qingyi.
He swept his sharp gaze around, the corners of his mouth lifting. “I haven’t been here in days—almost missed this place.”
Right then, the second figure—Dahuang—let out an excited bark.
Eyes squeezed shut and tail wagging, Dahuang stood upright and basked in freedom.
“Woof woof! I was forced to keep barking like a dog this whole time—nearly drove me mad!”
“Now I can finally enjoy this perfect taste of freedom again!”
Gu Qingyi stared out at the endless blackness, his pupils narrowing.
He realized he wasn’t so sure about Blackwater Prison’s exact location anymore.
“Dahuang, do you know which way Blackwater Prison is?”
“Huh?” Dahuang blinked, then broke into a sly grin. “Host Daddy, you’ve finally remembered my use? Just let me hand out a few quests!”
“Ding~ Congratulations, Host, you have triggered a Legendary Quest: Find the legendary Blackwater Prison and make your way there.”
“Quest reward: Invincible Aura. This aura can suppress any minor evildoers!”
“Ding~ Congratulations, Host, you have triggered a Legendary Quest: Find Blackwater Prison and successfully rescue Gu Ran.”
“Quest reward: Chaotic Asura Spear. This spear can strike down all low-level creatures!”
“Ding~ Congratulations, Host, you have triggered a Legendary Quest: Slay the two demon emperors guarding Blackwater Prison and avenge your family!”
“Quest reward: Advancement Realm Card, which lets you rise to the next great stage!”
After hearing this, Gu Qingyi nearly blurted out, ‘Holy—’.
Three legendary quests at once—never mind that they’re all right up his alley. This trip was turning out better than expected!
Gu Qingyi cleared his throat. “Not bad, Dahuang. Didn’t think you’d actually be helpful. I’ll accept all three quests!”
Dahuang’s face lit up. “At once, Host Daddy! I’ll handle it right away!”
“Ding~ Quest One accepted. Quest Two accepted. Quest Three accepted.”
“Host Daddy, all three quests are ready. Shouldn’t we get moving now?”
“Yeah, let’s go!” Gu Qingyi nodded, stepping out into the Void.
“Host Daddy, wait for me!” Dahuang called frantically, then sprinted to keep up with Gu Qingyi.
Dahuang was nothing like before. After devouring the Heavenly Spirit Fruit and that coveted Peach of Immortality,
he now had the power to walk on air, soaring wherever he pleased.
Using their strength and sharp senses, the two of them moved along their chosen path.
Man and dog shot forward like streaks of lightning—within a few breaths, they’d covered hundreds of thousands of miles.
Before long, they’d crossed a huge stretch of the Cosmic Void, but there still wasn’t a trace of the Blackwater Prison guarded by the alien race…
Still, the journey wasn’t for nothing.
After a long trek,
they arrived above a vast ocean covered in endless black water and finally stopped.
“Dahuang, the marker brought us here, but why don’t we see Blackwater Prison anywhere?” Gu Qingyi scanned the area, full of doubt.
Dahuang scratched his furry head, totally lost.
“No clue, Host Daddy.”
“The marker’s definitely right, but all I see below is that pitch-black pool—nothing else at all.”
“Not even a shadow of what’s supposed to be Blackwater Prison! Could the system info be wrong?”
“That can’t be…” Dahuang puzzled over it, stumped.
Hearing that, Gu Qingyi’s brows creased. He stared at the restless black water below.
Suddenly, a spark lit up in his mind—he seemed to get it.
Excitement flashed across his face and a smile curled his lips.
“Blackwater Prison? Since it’s called ‘Blackwater,’ maybe it’s right beneath this endless black water! Looks like we’ve found our spot!”
