Chapter 190: A Joyful Reunion
by xennovelBang!
With a thunderous crash, Shen Yue flung the door open, as if pouring out every ounce of frustration and anger pent up inside her.
Her eyes burned with determination and resolve, yet a flicker of confusion and pain lingered within them.
The moment the door swung wide, Gu Ran stood just outside, his gaze locking with Shen Yue’s in an instant.
Time seemed to freeze, the world narrowing to just the two of them.
Their eyes met, and it felt as though they could peer straight into each other’s souls, emotions laid bare.
In that fleeting glance, the age-old question of what love truly is seemed to find its answer.
Love surged between them like a tidal wave, intertwined and inseparable, a depth of feeling words could never capture.
They would give everything for this love, unwavering even if the seas dried up or the world’s ends beckoned.
“Ran, my dear!”
A clear voice brimming with emotion pierced through time itself, striking straight at the heart.
In the next breath, a delicate figure darted forward like a bird, nestling into Gu Ran’s warm and steady embrace.
“Yue, my love!”
Gu Ran held Shen Yue tightly, as if loosening his grip for even a moment would make her vanish.
Their bodies pressed close, feeling each other’s warmth and heartbeat, as though time had ceased to exist.
Tears spilled from their eyes like a broken dam, streaming down their cheeks.
These tears carried the weight of over a decade of longing, finally finding release in this moment.
Each drop held profound attachment and care, stirring the heart of anyone who witnessed it.
Lost in this poignant reunion, they forgot the world around them, completely immersed in each other.
Their lips drew near, tender and full of love, brushing softly against one another.
In that instant, nothing else mattered—the world was theirs alone.
“Mother and Father, don’t they have any shame? They know we’re watching, but gosh, it’s so sweet.”
Nearby, Gu Qingxiao’s cheeks flushed as she watched. She covered her eyes with her fingers, yet couldn’t resist peeking through the gaps.
A silly smile spread across her face, her heart swelling with admiration and blessings for her parents’ deep bond.
“Xiao’er, let’s not stare. Give Father and Mother some privacy!” Gu Qingyi shook his head with a helpless sigh.
He stepped forward, grabbing the still-entranced Gu Qingxiao and dragging her away from the tender scene.
“Older Brother, just a little longer, please…” Gu Qingxiao whined, even rolling on the ground in protest.
“No way!” Gu Qingyi’s tone was firm as he scooped her up and carried her off.
With Gu Qingyi and Gu Qingxiao gone, only Gu Ran and Shen Yue remained before the house.
They clung to each other still, savoring this rare moment of peace and sweetness.
Suddenly, their faces flushed as they glanced toward the cozy little bed inside the room behind them.
“Yue, I…” Gu Ran’s face turned crimson, scratching his head in nervous uncertainty.
“Mm…” Shen Yue replied shyly with a soft hum.
A spark of joy lit up Gu Ran’s face as he gently swept Shen Yue into his arms, striding steadily toward the room.
He eased the door shut behind them with a soft click.
Soon after, faint murmurs drifted from within.
The longing of over a decade found its release in this very moment…
Time flowed on, and the world shifted with it.
Yet their love, like fine wine, only grew richer and stronger with age.
In the blink of an eye, dusk fell as night cloaked the sky.
Creak! A door opened with a gentle sound.
Two figures stepped out slowly from the room.
It was none other than Gu Ran and Shen Yue.
Dressed in elegant finery, they radiated a vibrant glow; their faces bloomed like peach blossoms, brimming with a youthful spring in their step, as if years had melted away.
“Ran, let’s head out. Those two little ones are probably waiting eagerly in the hall for dinner.” Shen Yue nestled against Gu Ran’s broad chest, sweet and docile as a bird.
“Alright! Whatever Yue says goes.” Gu Ran smiled tenderly, wrapping an arm around her delicate frame.
Hand in hand, they walked intimately toward the hall in the Gu Residence, where a lavish feast awaited.
The grand hall of the Gu Residence shimmered with light, a faint scent of sandalwood lingering in the air.
A magnificent rosewood round table stood at the center, laden with an array of delectable dishes.
The colorful spread gave off an enticing aroma, enough to make anyone’s mouth water.
Two figures sat at the table—Gu Qingyi and Gu Qingxiao, the sibling pair.
Gu Qingxiao rested her small head on the table, one hand clutching her hungry stomach while the other doodled circles on the surface out of boredom.
Blinking her lively eyes with a mischievous glint, she turned to Gu Qingyi and asked, “Older Brother, why aren’t Father and Mother out yet? They’re not hiding in their room doing something embarrassing, are they?”
“After all, they haven’t seen each other in over a decade. I bet Father couldn’t wait any longer…”
Before she could finish—
“Xiao’er, don’t talk nonsense!”
Gu Qingyi flicked two fingers against her forehead with a light tap.
“Ouch!” Gu Qingxiao yelped in pain, quickly shielding her head with both hands.
Tears welled in her eyes as she pouted at Gu Qingyi. “Older Brother, that hurt!”
“I didn’t say anything wrong! I’m not a little kid anymore—I know about these things!”
Gu Qingyi sighed at her words. “Xiao’er, even if you understand, don’t just blurt out stuff like that!”
“Fine, okay…” Gu Qingxiao mumbled, her head drooping.
“Haha, Yi and Xiao’er, you’re already at the table waiting, huh?”
A voice filled with cheerful satisfaction rang out.
Gu Qingyi and Gu Qingxiao turned their heads at the same time, looking behind them.
There stood Gu Ran and Shen Yue, both radiating joy and walking with a spring in their step.
Hand in hand, they approached the round table.
“Yue, sit here.” Gu Ran pulled out a chair for Shen Yue with a doting smile.
“Thank you, Ran.” Shen Yue’s cheeks tinted pink as she took her seat.
“Ahem! We got a bit delayed on the way, so we’re late. Let’s all eat now!” Gu Ran cleared his throat and waved a hand at the others.
Gu Qingxiao muttered under her breath, “Father, delayed? I think you were busy with something that makes hearts race and faces blush… that’s why you’re like this…”
“Xiao’er, hush!” Gu Qingyi shot her a sharp glare and nudged her leg under the table to silence her.
“Okay, fine… I’ll stop.” Gu Qingxiao lowered her head, her gaze settling on the steaming bowl of rice before her.
Shen Yue took a deep breath to mask her embarrassment at being called out, forcing a small smile. “Today, it’s a rare joy for our family to be together. Let’s set other matters aside for now.”
“I’m sure everyone’s starving, so let’s dig in!”
Time slipped by in a flash.
Amid bursts of cheerful laughter, the precious moment quietly passed.
After the four had eaten their fill, they chatted a while longer, reminding each other to rest early before retiring to their rooms.
Gu Ran held Shen Yue’s soft hand tightly.
Side by side, they stepped into a room filled with warmth, a subtle fragrance wafting through the air, bringing a sense of calm and delight.
Their eyes locked, brimming with deep affection.
Slowly, their lips met in a gentle kiss, a spark racing through their bodies.
The kiss grew fervent, their bodies instinctively drawing closer.
Just then, the lights in the room flickered off, plunging everything into darkness. Yet, this did nothing to dim their passion.
If anything, the intimacy in the dark added a layer of mystery and romance.
In the pitch black, their breaths became audible, and soon, a melodious tune began to play within the room.
The melody flowed like a clear stream over their hearts, drawing them into a dreamlike realm.
With the enchanting music as their guide, Gu Ran and Shen Yue began to dance.
Their steps were light and perfectly in sync, each turn and embrace filled with love and tenderness.
In this private haven of theirs, time seemed to stand still, with only endless sweetness and happiness enveloping them.
