Dawn had just broken, the first light of morning peeking through.

He coughed lightly. “I didn’t realize Father was in Mother’s room. Have I disturbed your rest?”

Inside the room.

Hearing his voice Shen Yue quickly responded, “Not at all dear. Just wait outside for a moment.”

She hurriedly reached for the clothes scattered on the floor.

Gu Ran gazed at Shen Yue’s fair form, swallowing hard. “Yue my love you’re so beautiful!”

Noticing his stare Shen Yue pushed him with a faint blush of irritation. “You lecher turn away! I need to dress!”

“Oh come now we’re old partners. There’s no part of you I haven’t seen.” Gu Ran propped his head on his hand, grinning as he watched her.

After this little interlude…

The two finally dressed, their faces glowing as they rushed to open the door.

“Creak!”

The once-closed door swung open, three pairs of eyes meeting.

Suddenly another door nearby opened, and Gu Qingxiao emerged, hair tousled and eyes bleary from sleep…

Spotting Gu Qingyi, Gu Ran, and Shen Yue, she jogged over to greet them.

“Morning Father, Mother, and Older Brother.”
