Chapter Index

The person who once read Qin Wan’s fortune was quietly observing from the shadows.

What Qin Wan didn’t know was that Gu Qingyi had seen it coming all along.

Ordinary people are born, grow old, get sick, and die—so the brocade pouch she gave Qin Wan has a hidden purpose.

At the moment of death, it can draw the wearer’s soul inside. Even if the body dies, the soul can continue on in another form, ultimately making resurrection possible.

    …………….

Meanwhile, Gu Qingyi and Nangong Lin had already left the boundaries of Xiaoxi Village, making their way slowly over a mountain.

Staring at the looming mountain ahead, Nangong Lin could barely contain her frustration. She began spilling everything that happened to her in these mountains to Gu Qingyi.

“Brother Gu, you have no idea! When I first got here, my throat felt like sandpaper. Luckily, there was a house not too far away.” Nangong Lin lowered her voice, grumbling, “So I knocked on the door. Turned out, the owner was this guy who must weigh several hundred pounds—looked just like a pig—then he tried to trick me into becoming the lady of his house. When I refused, he tried to force me!”

“I gave him a sound beating, but honestly, he was so disgusting I couldn’t go through with it.” She wiped her hands with obvious revulsion. “After that, I ran off, and—well, somehow I ran right into you.”

Gu Qingyi’s face darkened as her words dredged up old memories. He frowned at Nangong Lin. “Lin’er, was that man from the Wang family? Was his name Wang Jia?”

“Yeah, that’s right. The plaque outside even said Wang family! But I don’t know the fat guy’s name,” Nangong Lin nodded at his question, then sighed.

After hearing Nangong Lin’s recount, Gu Qingyi grew visibly angry and spat out, “If my suspicions are correct, that was Wang Jia! Wang Jia, looks like your time has run out!”

Gu Qingyi’s face turned grim, knuckles whitening as he clenched his fists. The air grew more oppressive and cold around them.

Nangong Lin shivered, hugging her arms tightly and asked nervously, “Brother Gu, do you feel that? It’s suddenly gotten way colder out here!”

Gu Qingyi only then reined in his fearsome aura after hearing her speak.

Suddenly, realization struck Gu Qingyi. He quickly sat down cross-legged.

Half a year of hardship with no memories had changed him deeply. He’d seen every side of the world and his outlook was nothing like before.

In a single instant, Gu Qingyi’s cultivation shot past the third level of the Sword King Realm! But it didn’t stop—he broke through the fourth! Then the fifth! Only then did it finally slow.

He slowly opened his eyes, a surge of power erupting from him. Beside him, Nangong Lin nearly buckled at the knees, feeling this intimidating aura as if she’d collapse at any moment.

With wide eyes and jaw dropped, she realized Gu Qingyi felt even more unfathomable than before.

“Brother Gu, did you just have another breakthrough?” she blurted, stunned. Compared to Gu Qingyi, she’d trained for ages and still couldn’t even crack the Sword Sea Realm. She couldn’t help but develop an inferiority complex.

“Yes, I did,” Gu Qingyi replied with a gentle nod.

“It’s so unfair! Comparing yourself to others just brings misery,” Nangong Lin sighed, though in her heart, she was genuinely happy for Gu Qingyi.

Then she perked up, eyes shining. “Brother Gu, what now? Should we go back or…?”

A cold flash flickered through Gu Qingyi’s eyes as he answered icily, “No. First, we’re wiping out the Wang family. Wang Jia deserves to be cut to pieces.”

“All right. I’ll follow your lead, Brother Gu,” Nangong Lin replied without hesitation and strode forward to guide the way.

    ………………

Elsewhere, in the Wang family estate.

Wang Jia was lounging on his bed, toying with a young woman. His enormous body shifted back and forth, his flabby cheeks contorting into a chilling grin as he tormented the delicate girl underneath him.

Leering at his prey, Wang Jia cackled maniacally, “Louder! Let me hear that lovely voice, hahahahaha!”

A desperate voice pleaded beneath him, pain and panic echoing through the Wang family’s halls as screams and Wang Jia’s laughter mixed in the air. “Please, let me go! I won’t try to run ever again!”

“Miss, we’d help you if we could, but there’s nothing we can do,” the guards outside sighed, shaking their heads. It was as if they’d seen this too many times already—they waited motionless like statues at the door.

Wang Jia sneered, “That’s what I like most. Your cries make me feel alive.”

    …………………

Guided by Gu Qingyi and Nangong Lin, the two soon reached the Wang family compound. They heard Wang Jia’s obscene laughter and the chilling cries of a young woman before they even got close.

Fury exploded in Gu Qingyi’s chest. He leapt into the air, striding straight ahead. Nangong Lin chased after him, barely keeping up.

Standing at the Wang family’s front gate, Gu Qingyi saw opulence everywhere—an ostentatious entrance and a courtyard that practically screamed arrogance.

But he wasn’t here for the décor. Without a second’s hesitation, he shaped his fingers like a sword and slashed the gate to pieces, striding inside.

The guards at the entrance recoiled in terror, one stammering, “Who are you? Why do you dare barge into the Wang family like this?”

Gu Qingyi’s eyes burned with menace as he glared. “Anyone who values his life—get out of my way.”

The dozen or so guards exchanged grim looks. “You’re strong—stronger than all of us together. Even if we fight, we’ll die in moments. But our duty is to protect the master. Forgive us, but we can’t let you pass!”

Gu Qingyi’s cold gaze felt like a sword stabbing straight through them. He spoke in a low, deadly tone: “If you want to die so badly, I’m happy to oblige!”

He unleashed the full force of his fifth level Sword King Realm aura. The guards were driven to the ground, as if a mountain had fallen on their backs.

    They couldn’t move a muscle.

Bones shattered in an instant, organs crushed until blood and even brain matter spilled from their mouths and noses—left in pools on the floor.

Not one of them even managed to struggle. All died on the spot.

Nangong Lin arrived just in time to see the gruesome scene and clapped a hand over her mouth, fighting the urge to vomit.

Inside, Wang Jia’s debauched laughter and the screams of the girl echoed on, oblivious to the carnage outside.

“Disgusting beast—he’s still at it, not a care in the world!” Gu Qingyi roared, waving his hand. A gale whipped up and ripped the house from its foundations.

Only a single bed remained. On it, Wang Jia was naked above the waist, and beside him lay a girl—lifeless and barely clothed.

“Ugh, that’s indecent!” Nangong Lin yelped, quickly covering her eyes.

“Which fool dares ruin my fun? You must be tired of living!” Wang Jia huffed, taking in the now-empty courtyard. In a heartbeat, only the bed remained. His anger boiled over.

“Noisy. You like to hear screams so much? Why not let us hear yours instead.” Gu Qingyi raised his hand, voice almost bored.

Wang Jia suddenly felt his enormous body yanked into the air. A scream, so shrill it sounded like a pig being slaughtered, burst from his throat. In the blink of an eye, his limbs snapped, bones pulverized to dust. Blood and sticky fluid gushed from every opening.

Fragments of bone and marrow jutted from where his arms and legs had twisted apart. Blood poured out, pooling on the ground.

With a sweep of Gu Qingyi’s hand, Wang Jia crashed down with a sickening thud. His body, limbs crushed into fragments, barely clung to life. The agony was so intense, he couldn’t even scream anymore.

Wang Jia tried to wriggle his huge body and begged in terror, “Please, let me live! I’ll do anything—be your servant if you want! Just spare my life!”

“Lin’er, what do you think?” Gu Qingyi side-eyed Nangong Lin.

She picked up his meaning instantly. Staring furiously at Wang Jia sprawled helpless on the floor, she shouted, “A worm like you doesn’t deserve to live! You tried to mess with me before—did you ever imagine you’d die like this?”

“Miss, please have some mercy! I swear, I’ll never do it again! Help me beg him, I don’t want to die!” Wang Jia sobbed, pleading with Nangong Lin as if truly remorseful.

Nangong Lin grit her teeth. “You think I’d forgive a monster like you? What about all the innocent girls you killed? Will they forgive you? Dream on—go to hell!” Fueled by rage at his shameless begging, she pointed furiously to the bed where the girl lay dead.

“Down you go—apologize to them, and remember to be a decent person next time!” With a single clean stroke, Nangong Lin drew her sword and slashed Wang Jia’s throat.

“You… you—” Wang Jia tried to clutch his neck, staring at her in disbelief. With a shudder, he crashed onto the floor, eyes wide in death.

“Disgusting pig—even his blood stinks!” Nangong Lin grimaced at her sword, wiping it with a handkerchief she took from her pocket. She tossed the cloth onto Wang Jia’s corpse with a look of utter contempt.

Still fixated on her sword, Nangong Lin murmured, “So this is what killing someone feels like. It’s… kind of exhilarating!”

Gu Qingyi turned back and spoke softly, “Come on. Let’s move on.”

He raised a hand, summoning a scorching flame.

Within moments, the Wang estate and all the bodies inside were burning to ash. Soon, nothing was left. It was as though the Wang family never existed. Gu Qingyi and Nangong Lin walked away, their figures vanishing into the fire’s glow.
