Chapter Index

“Sisters, these two men are yours for tonight. Remember to take care of them and don’t get carried away,” Su Yao said with a mischievous glint in her eye as she glanced at the two passed-out men slumped over the table. A smile tugged at her lips.

The younger sisters beamed, their faces glowing with excitement. “Don’t worry, Sister! There’s five of us, so we’ll take it slow and be careful. Nothing bad will happen,” they promised, all smiles.

Su Yao nodded, and the Su sisters cheerfully lifted the unconscious Gu Xiaoyao and Xie Jinxuan, carrying them off to the boudoir.

    ……

Gu Xiaoyao felt like he was trapped in a long, hazy dream. But then, a sudden sharp pain pricked his head and, stranger still, he sensed icy slender hands roaming over his chest.

“Quit messing around!” He thought he was still dreaming, so with his eyes squeezed shut and face flushed, he grabbed hold of the soft hands and blurted out without thinking.

“Oh, so the young master is awake!” A chorus of playful female voices answered as the sisters crowded closer.

The sweet, coy voices startled Gu Xiaoyao awake. He shot up, panic flickering in his eyes.

“Ladies, what exactly are you doing? Why has my shirt vanished?” Embarrassed, he hurriedly patted his chest and found his upper clothes were gone. His face filled with alarm as he stared at the delicate Su sisters in front of him.

“Oh my, you woke up so soon! I was hoping we could still take it to the next step,” Su Wan sighed with an adorably pitiable look when she saw Gu Xiaoyao had come to.

Having heard that, Gu Xiaoyao dove for the covers and wrapped himself up tightly, flustered. “Please, young ladies, show some restraint! We’ve never even met before!”

“Now, that’s no way to talk. A single night is worth a thousand gold coins, and once we’re… familiar, there’s no going back. Don’t worry, I’m still a maiden—you’re not losing out,” Su Wan giggled, hand covering her mouth, amused by his reaction and now tempted to tease him more.

Gu Xiaoyao opened his mouth to protest again, but caught sight of Xie Jinxuan nearby—he was also being pawed at by Su Qin and Su Ran.

“Ladies, please have mercy and let him go!” Gu Xiaoyao forgot all about Su Wan and got out of bed, blocking Xie Jinxuan protectively.

“Jinxuan, wake up!” Gu Xiaoyao urgently pushed Su Qin and Su Ran away from Xie Jinxuan, hauling up his friend, who wore a silly, vacant grin.

But Xie Jinxuan still didn’t react. In the end, Gu Xiaoyao bit his lip, made up his mind—and gave Xie Jinxuan two resounding slaps.

“Xiaoyao, where are we right now? I just had the most wonderful dream… and then, all of a sudden, I got slapped,” Xie Jinxuan groaned, rubbing his cheeks as confusion flashed across his face. “Did you see who hit me?”

“Jinxuan, actually it was me—I had to. If I’d waited any longer, your innocence would’ve been in real danger,” Gu Xiaoyao muttered sheepishly, avoiding his friend’s eyes.

“Is that so? And what do you mean, ‘my innocence would’ve been in danger?'” Xie Jinxuan clutched his cheek, half believing, half doubting as he stared back.

Gu Xiaoyao pointed at the Su sisters and said gravely, “If you don’t believe me, ask these young ladies yourself.”

Xie Jinxuan followed his finger. Seeing the hungry looks in the Su sisters’ eyes—and realizing his own shirt was missing—he suddenly understood.

“Ha! I knew it. The moment I came in, I got a bad feeling about you lot. Now, you’re trying to take advantage of us!” Xie Jinxuan jabbed an accusing finger at the sisters, raising his voice.

The Su sisters blinked at his outrage, stunned for a moment, but soon their faces returned to normal.

“Oh? This young master is quite perceptive—caught on quick. Well, you’re not wrong. We’re not human,” Su Wan said, her eyes turning cold as she fixed Xie Jinxuan with a chilling stare. She looked ready to swallow him whole.

“Wait, hold on—I’m just talking nonsense! Please, ladies, don’t eat me—I’m not tasty!” Xie Jinxuan’s face paled and he started trembling, shuffling backward in fear.

“Relax, young master. With looks like yours, we’d rather cherish you than eat you. Besides, we don’t eat people!” Watching Xie Jinxuan’s antics, the sisters burst out laughing, rolling around on the floor.

“That’s right. You two can relax—we mean no harm,” Su Xue said with a gentle smile as she stepped closer.

Gu Xiaoyao studied the sisters, deadly serious. “If that’s true, then why strip us of our clothes?!”

“There’s a reason for that, actually…” The sisters’ smiles froze. One of them was about to explain,

when suddenly the door creaked open.

Su Yao strolled in, her tone casual as she sized up the two men. “Oh? You woke up so soon. Looks like that wine wasn’t strong enough.”

“Sister! Why are you here? Is something wrong?” The sisters jumped off the bed and rushed over to gather around Su Yao.

Su Yao glanced at her sisters, looking puzzled. “Did you get what you needed? Did you draw out their yang energy?”

“Not yet, almost—we didn’t get the chance. These two woke up too fast,” the younger sisters stammered, shaking their heads and failing to meet Su Yao’s eyes.

Su Yao looked over at the two men and quickly understood. With a helpless sigh, she rubbed her forehead. “How many times have I told you? Out in the city, don’t mess around—you’re just asking for trouble, and now look!”

“Gentlemen, I’m going to ask you for a small sacrifice,” Su Yao said, advancing coldly, a forceful chill in her voice. “Save my troublesome sisters. I hope you’ll be cooperative, otherwise… don’t blame me for using force.”

Gu Xiaoyao calmly sized up Su Yao. “I don’t sense any malice from you. Would you mind telling us who—and what—you are? Maybe there’s another way we can help.”

“Here’s the truth—my sisters snuck out of the Monster Realm to follow me into the human world.” Su Yao’s gaze turned complicated as she sighed. “But they’re only at Fifth Rank, not strong enough to maintain a human form naturally. They’ve been burning up their monster power to look human, and that’s taking its toll.”

“My Heavenly Demon Fox Clan needs the harmony of yin and yang to restore our monster power. If we can’t, we’ll exhaust ourselves and die.” Su Yao squeezed her hands tight, not daring to look at the men. “So we opened this tavern here on Demon’s Road. Plenty of ugly men come by, but my sisters are picky—they flat-out refuse to take energy from them.”

“As their big sister, I had to listen and help them search for suitable prey. At last, two handsome young masters appeared—and my sisters couldn’t be happier.” Su Yao straightened, about to kneel at the two men. “So please, help us by offering your yang energy. Once you’ve helped them, I promise you’ll be handsomely rewarded.”

“Xiaoyao, what do you say? Maybe we should step up and make a selfless sacrifice this time. Saving a life is a greater virtue than building a pagoda—plus, they’re all beautiful girls,” Xie Jinxuan’s eyes sparkled as he leaned over to whisper. “Didn’t you always say you’d stick up for those in trouble? Now’s our chance! I’m willing to help!”

“Then I leave these girls to you, Jinxuan!” Gu Xiaoyao thought for a beat, then gave his friend a hearty slap on the back.

Their exchange left the Su sisters in shock, mouths agape.

“I’m afraid you’ve got the wrong idea, gentlemen. Yin-yang balance doesn’t actually require physical contact. It can be done at a distance—though, yes, the results are faster if we… you know,” Su Yao said, looking exasperated at their misunderstanding. “All my sisters are still pure. The slow method is enough for now, so let’s just put the other thoughts aside.”

“But, sis, if it’s these two, I’d be willing to do more,” Su Xue tugged at Su Yao’s sleeve. Her eyes shone as she gazed up, muttering under her breath.

Su Rou shot her a glare, eyes narrowed. “Watch your mouth! You’re not to bring up such ideas again, or next time I’ll teach you what it means for a girl to respect herself—properly!”

“I’m sorry, sis! I won’t say it again,” Su Xue squeaked, shrinking under Su Yao’s stern gaze, gripping her sleeve and lowering her head.
