Chapter Index

Su Yao looked at her younger sisters, all safe and sound now, their demonic powers fully restored. Not only had they escaped danger, they’d even found unexpected fortune and every one of them had broken through to the mid-fifth stage.

As Su Yao sensed the surge of energy radiating from her sisters, she could hardly put her happiness into words.

To thank Gu Xiaoyao and Xie Jinxuan, the two benefactors who’d lent a hand and saved her dear sisters, Su Yao felt a deep, tearful gratitude. She planned a special banquet, determined to fulfill any request they might have.

    ……

“Thank you both for your kindness in rescuing my sisters. I truly can’t thank you enough.” Su Yao looked at Gu Xiaoyao and Xie Jinxuan, her face alight with emotion. “I must repay this life-saving favor, and I beg you, please don’t turn me down!”

“You’re too generous. It was nothing, really no trouble at all.” Gu Xiaoyao lowered his hand from his waist and smiled.

“Xiaoyao’s right, it was hardly any effort on our part.” Xie Jinxuan offered a smile too, shaking his head. “We only lost a bit of vital energy to help out, and I’m happy we could assist you ladies.”

“That’s not fair to say! If it weren’t for you two, we weak girls probably wouldn’t have survived.” Su Wan, hands on her hips and cheeks puffed in protest, was clearly dissatisfied with their modesty.

“Exactly—the two of you gave your energy to save us.” Su Xue dabbed at the tears in her eyes. “Otherwise, we’d have been left here drained and lifeless!”

“Yes, you shouldn’t refuse us now.” Su Ran covered her mouth with a laugh.

Su Yao beamed. “All my sisters agree, so please, don’t refuse any longer. Tonight, let me hold a grand banquet just for you!”

“If you say so, it would be rude for us to refuse. We’ll leave everything in your capable hands.” Gu Xiaoyao and Xie Jinxuan exchanged a glance and nodded.

    ……

Night fell, and as the lanterns lit up, the Yangchun Lounge gleamed in the heart of the city.

Climbing up the restaurant, one could gaze out over the bustling scene below, a sea of lights and endless prosperity.

High above, the moon bathed the building in crisp silver light, giving the ancient eaves and ornamental beams a timeless, elegant beauty.

A gentle breeze sent banners fluttering, their snapping sound echoing stories of the past.

Inside, the hall was alive with laughter and cheerful voices.

Gu Xiaoyao sat by the window, letting the wind play through his hair, sipping from a cup while quietly admiring the moonlit view.

Su Wan took center stage, her fingers dancing over the strings as she sang. The clear, melodious tune held the hall enchanted.

Su Qin matched her with a graceful dance, floating across the floor like a fairy descending to the mortal world, utterly captivating the audience.

Every delicacy from mountain and sea filled the banquet table.

To show her respect to Gu Xiaoyao and Xie Jinxuan, Su Yao brought out her most treasured vintage wine for the occasion.

    ……

“Young Master Gu, the banquet’s ready. Please come with me.” Su Yao approached the window with light footsteps, smiling softly at Gu Xiaoyao.

“Thank you, Miss Su.” Gu Xiaoyao lifted his wine jug and drained it in one go.

With Su Yao leading the way, Gu Xiaoyao walked toward the feast.

    ……

The others stood to greet them as they approached.

After Gu Xiaoyao took his seat, the group exchanged smiles and gathered around, raising their glasses. “Gentlemen, allow us to toast you both.”

Su Yao and her sisters—Su Wan, Su Xue, Su Qin, Su Ran, Su Xiaoxiao—took turns offering dishes and drinks to Gu Xiaoyao and Xie Jinxuan, the air full of warmth and harmony.

After several rounds, everyone started to feel the effects—flushed cheeks, dizzy heads, a pleasant haze settling over the room.

The Su sisters shared knowing glances and cheerful smiles, and as the evening wore on, they all rose to surround Gu Xiaoyao and Xie Jinxuan.

“Would you two gentlemen stay a while longer at Yangchun Lounge?” the sisters chimed in together. “We want to repay your kindness properly!”

“It’s true, if you two agree to stay longer—” Su Yao gave a gentle smile, “I’d happily offer you treasured rare items to show my gratitude.”

“Ladies, you really don’t need to do this,” Gu Xiaoyao and Xie Jinxuan waved their hands. “We only met by chance. You were in trouble today, so we helped—no reward necessary.”

Su Yao bit her lip, unhappy. “No, that’s not right. Without you, my sisters wouldn’t be here now. We have to repay you, so please don’t refuse us!”

Su Wan added softly, “Yes, if you stay a little longer, we promise to treat you well.”

“You mustn’t be so modest!” Su Xue stepped forward, looking at them both.

“If you two would be willing to stay,” Su Qin, Su Ran, and Su Xiaoxiao said together, “we’ll show you the beauty of the mountains and rivers and share all the wonders of the Monster Realm so you don’t leave with any regrets!”

Seeing everyone’s enthusiasm, Gu Xiaoyao and Xie Jinxuan didn’t push back anymore and agreed to stay a few extra days.

    ……

In the days that followed, Gu Xiaoyao and Xie Jinxuan explored the beauty of the Monster Realm, accompanied by Su Yao and her sisters.

They visited palaces and gardens, enjoyed music and dance performances, and sampled the realm’s unique cuisine.

They also learned about the realm’s political landscape, economics, and culture, gaining a fuller understanding of the Monster Realm.

The Monster Race was ruled by a wise and virtuous monarch, whose subjects were all noted for their warmth, hospitality, and kindness.

    ……

Meanwhile, Su Yao and the others asked Gu Xiaoyao and Xie Jinxuan about many things from the world of humans—poetry, painting, music, and more.

Gu Xiaoyao and Xie Jinxuan gladly shared everything they knew, hoping it would help their friends better understand the human world.

But all good things come to an end.

Before they knew it, their days in the Monster Realm were almost over. On the eve of their departure, Su Yao organized one final banquet to see them off.

At the farewell table, the Su sisters once again thanked their guests and presented them with gifts they’d carefully chosen.

Gu Xiaoyao and Xie Jinxuan promised, though they were leaving the Monster Realm, they’d never forget these wonderful days or the friendships they’d made.

The Su sisters accompanied them all the way to Demon’s Road, watching as their figures disappeared into the darkness before returning.

Long after, the Su sisters often reminisced about the days spent with Gu Xiaoyao and Xie Jinxuan, certain that those memories were the most unforgettable of their lives.
