Chapter 5: Choosing the Initial Pet Beast
by xennovelA beautiful girl suddenly lifts her skirt with an ethereal voice and an indifferent expression, asking if you think it looks good.
Those who are close enough can smell a serene and elegant fragrance, akin to that of a mandrake flower, beautiful but dangerously poisonous.
Moreover, she has white hair and red pupils.
Is this a test for the cadres?
Lu Yu felt his blood surge.
Stiff!
His fist stiffened.
Actually, if he could say this sentence with a disgusted face, it would look better.
Lu Yu reluctantly shifted his gaze away and sighed:
“President, you shouldn’t randomly lift your skirt in front of boys…”
“Ok, I’ll put on safety shorts later.”
The girl’s cool voice rang out, conveying definite intent.
Later is still later’s problem, huh!
But your lace pattern is pretty nice, cough cough cough…
If it wasn’t for knowing the personality of the girl in front of him, Lu Yu might have thought it was a beautiful confession.
However, he knew it was impossible because he was aware of the true identity of the girl before him.
Red Moon Dream!
Talking about Dayuan City’s First High School, most people might not know who the principal is, but if it comes to beauties, you absolutely cannot bypass three people.
The three sisters of the Red Moon family!
The eldest sister, Red Moon Hong Lian; the second sister, Red Moon Xi; and the youngest sister, Red Moon Dream!
The three of them all have white hair and red pupils, ravishing looks, hot figures, and they carry a certain charm that makes one unconsciously indulge.
There was once a rich second-generation antagonist, brainless and rich, who wanted to use power and threats, but the next day, he transferred out of the school.
Rumors say it seemed like a dignitary spoke up, and then a group of jackals and hyenas eager to please him pounced and effortlessly crushed the rich second-generation’s family business into dust.
Any later and there would have been only one path left—death.
Later on, some even saw the headmaster of Dayuan City Pet Beast High School, a master pet beast tamer, treating the three sisters amiably and closely, adding a layer of mystery to their already enigmatic presence.
Their stunning appearance coupled with their mysterious backgrounds naturally made them the center of attention.
However, contrary to their sexy appearances, their personalities are extremely aloof, and they reject anyone’s attempt to come into contact with them—even girls.
They are like flowers on high cliffs, out of reach of ordinary people.
This has led to rumors suggesting the sisters’ unusual appearances might not be human, but the emergence of the Pet Beast Space dispelled all rumors.
After all, only humans have the Pet Beast Space!
Lu Yu and Red Moon Dream’s acquaintance was also an accident. Lu Yu often went to the library to research, trying to find records of abnormal solar activities because he doubted the reality of the world.
One time, he happened to encounter Red Moon Dream deep in thought, watching her step into the air on a staircase and fall forward. Lu Yu instinctively grabbed her hand, only to realize the Abyssal Demon Eye had been gnawing on the hem of her dress.
Even without his help, she would not have fallen!
Lu Yu let go and apologized, but Red Moon Dream’s look was even more complex, with an indescribable excitement, asking him what it felt like when he touched her.
Lu Yu isn’t a pervert; although her touch was very smooth, he couldn’t just say that and shook his head, denying any peculiar feelings.
Red Moon Dream didn’t pursue further, just simply added his contact information.
He thought they wouldn’t meet again, but then Red Moon Dream suddenly became the Student Council President, and she was responsible for interfacing with his Taohua Pig project, thus the two had topics to discuss. They often interacted for work and chatted casually, becoming friends.
Through their conversations, Lu Yu learned that Red Moon Dream was not as cold as the legends suggested, but rather straightforward in personality, only calmer in expression.
If one were to describe it, she’d be like the expressionless girl often found in anime.
So in Lu Yu’s view, this was probably because Red Moon Dream was too well-protected and didn’t understand social ethics.
Lu Yu did wonder whether she liked him or not. After all, his own appearance was indeed top-tier; if not for the “sun incident” and his voluntary pig farming, he probably would have had his drawers stuffed with love letters every day.
However, after indirectly probing a few times, Red Moon Dream only looked at him calmly, her gaze pure, more like she saw him as a friend, which led him to wryly joke about life’s three great illusions.
But perhaps this was for the better.
Compared to a romantic daily life, he was more eager to have the power to protect himself.
The girl saw that Lu Yu had no reaction. She tilted her head, and a touch of confusion appeared in her crimson eyes.
Isn’t it said in the comics by sister…
Apologies or confessions should flash underwear, and the other party will be happy?
But why can’t the emotion still be conveyed…
No matter how urgent, she can’t express her true feelings…
Just as she was about to continue lifting her skirt, a juicy peach peeked out from beneath.
Lu Yu, afraid he couldn’t resist the urge to eat the peach, changed the subject:
“President, what did you want to see me about?”
“Aren’t you going to use the Golden Medallion?” Red Moon Dream loosened her grip and her skirt fluttered, covering the purple charm.
Lu Yu frowned: “Are you here to persuade me?”
The Nightmare Beast could attack at any time; this was the only path he could take now.
If she really was there to hinder him, he would give up school as an option and go through the process to apply.
“No, I believe in you.”
Red Moon Dream’s expression was calm, as though stating a well-known fact, and she continued: “As the Student Council President, I will accompany you.”
“Accompany me?”
Lu Yu was initially taken aback but then delighted.
With the mysteriously originative Red Moon Dream’s help, and being well-regarded in relationships himself, getting a good pet beast would be a breeze with the Eye of Truth.
Red Moon Dream looked at the excited young man, silently extended her delicate fist into the air, and in his puzzled gaze, she softly said:
“Good luck!”
“Oh… okay!”
Lu Yu recalled that in the past, online chats mentioned celebrating with a fist bump when cheering, and didn’t anticipate she’d remember.
He closed his fist and gently touched her fine fist, feeling the malevolent gaze of the Abyssal Demon Eye.
It seemed angry that this stupid human dared to touch its master!
In response, Lu Yu simply smiled and took his hand back, meanwhile taking out a sour plum candy from his pocket to refresh himself, unwrapping it and tossing it to the covetous Abyssal Demon Eye on the side.
The latter flicked its tail and caught the sour plum candy, approaching to sniff it like a little dog.
Sour and sweet…
How dare a mere human try to bribe me!
Though it wanted to act reserved, the Abyssal Demon Eye could not resist the temptation of the sour taste and opened its mouth to swallow it.
Its big eyes narrowed into slits.
Like a cat being stroked under the chin, its body trembled slightly!
Delicious!
You humans are somewhat sensible, I’ll turn a blind eye today.
“As expected, just like the Eye of Truth said, it can’t resist sour food.”
Lu Yu chuckled inwardly and turned to ask the school for leave.
Meanwhile, Red Moon Dream stood in place, savoring the temperature from the touch of her hand, her eyes moistening, murmuring:
“I can be touched without being consumed by my essence, a man… the first man I can contact…”
Her crimson pupils turned into hearts without notice as she watched Lu Yu’s retreating figure, and her legs subtly drew closer together. A tail with a heart-shaped tip peeked out beneath her pleated skirt, wagging with her master’s delight!
By the time Lu Yu looked back, Red Moon Dream had already caught up, her demeanor as serene and elegant as ever.
Next, with Red Moon Dream’s assistance, combined with Lu Yu’s own good name, everything went smoothly at the school. They even provided a school bus to take them to Dayuan City’s special barracks location.
Passing through the bustling downtown, the vehicles became scarcer towards the center, and numerous checkpoints manned by troops inspected passing vehicles’ identities.
After submitting their information, Lu Yu’s party was able to pass without trouble and soon arrived at a giant white tower at the base, the tallest building in the city.
At the top of the white tower was a large spherical crystal bathing the city in a silver glow under the sun’s light.
The tower’s body was engraved with a hundred animal reliefs, strange and various, facing all directions, each with closed eyes and numerous blue lines spreading from the crystal, connecting all the reliefs.
For some reason, Lu Yu always felt that these reliefs seemed alive.
However, with the sun-staring lesson in mind, he didn’t dare to use the Eye of Truth recklessly.
While Lu Yu was lost in thought, Red Moon Dream’s voice echoed beside him:
“This is Dayuan City’s wonder—the Star Beast Tower, which can detect whether there are skinned, parasitized, or psychically controlled monsters that have infiltrated the city; and if so, it will issue a warning and directly annihilate them!”
Lu Yu nodded, not unfamiliar with it, as the white tower’s continuous operation day and night was what had allowed Dayuan City to stand tall and undamaged near the Great Abyss.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say…
It’s the guardian deity in the eyes of Dayuan City’s citizens!
Lu Yu followed Red Moon Dream up the marble staircase, across the white stone plaza, and into the tower.
The first level was the office area without the expected mystery, but rather spacious and bright, with many green potted plants in the corners, giving a modern feel.
Inside the glass counters, staff members were busy dealing with many municipal projects.
Lu Yu was about to get a number and queue when Red Moon Dream directly paid extra for a scalpers’ ticket, giving him a glimpse of the power of money.
The process was smooth with the school’s documentation, skipping the queuing phase and surprising the service lady.
A Golden Medallion owner could face dangerous tasks in the future, but for now, that’s a future concern—presently a potential star.
She wanted to get to know him, but then glanced at Red Moon Dream’s piercing stare.
Stare——
On that beautiful face that could make any woman withdraw in defeat, her calm gaze was like that of a tiger protecting its food, ready to pounce on any beast that coveted its prey!
The temperature seemed to drop a few degrees.
Finally, Lu Yu had to pull her away for the service lady to sigh in relief, unable to help remarking:
“Are young girls nowadays this scary when they get jealous?”
The two stepped into the elevator, scanning their identity information and a one-time pass card, the elevator descending automatically until stopping on the third floor below ground.
When the elevator door opened, countless roots spread out, and before they could react, they were entwined and dragged out into a magical place.
An amalgamation of quirky environments blended together, with rivers, grasslands, forests, and bizarre rock-strewn caves.
Among them lived numerous extraordinary beings, sustaining a variety of ecologies, harmoniously coexisting under their influence.
At the sky’s ceiling were rocks adorned with glowing crystal flowers.
Below, crows with three eyes emitted soul-shaking calls, while black and red wolves dashed across the land, leaving scorched traces as they pursued mossy and vine-covered burrowing rodents, creating a bizarre ecosystem.
Upon reaching their destination, the roots that tangled around them dispersed, and before Lu Yu could inspect the surroundings, a raspy voice rose from behind:
“Welcome to the belly prison of the Mysterious Prison Flower!”
