Chapter 10: From Apes to Humans!
by xennovelJiang Ping watched the birth of the first generation of Human Kings and nodded in approval.
“From apes to humans, this clan can now be called the Human Clan! This Human King isn’t half bad—his progress has indeed paid off. With the sharpness of the Spear of Destiny, he can even challenge the mighty dragons at the top of the food chain. However…”
Jiang Ping turned his gaze to the other side of the land. The rise of the Human Clan had put immense pressure on other magical beasts, and they were certainly no pushovers! Each was born with divine power, displaying extraordinary intelligence. In terms of combat prowess and cunning, they were on par with the newly emerged humans. Yet, their numbers were simply too few. Without uniting, Jiang Ping could almost foresee the fate of other creatures in the Original World—replicating the rise of the Earth’s apes! The mighty beasts that posed a threat had been slain, one generation after another tamed for their benefit. But looking at the voracious ants exploring the corners, Jiang Ping felt the Human Clan wouldn’t dominate so easily.
In the Original World, with the birth of the Human King, the blank pages of Genesis once again began to reveal their script. The Original Calendar: Middle Ages; glaciers melted, life awakened; divine-born creatures conquered the world; the ape leader Wuma received divine enlightenment and obtained three great treasures: Spear of Destiny, Spark of Civilization, and Stone of Truth.
By simulating the breathing techniques of various beings, he successfully slayed the evil dragon, bathing in its blood to gain a second life and become the first Human King. Deep underground, the Ant Queen, unsatisfied with darkness, began to venture above—showing the terrifying fierceness of the voracious ants.
After reading the texts of Genesis, Jiang Ping pondered, “It seems this generation’s main characters are the Human Clan and the Ant Clan.”
Though the Human Clan of the Original World was vastly different from that on Earth, essentially worlds apart, Jiang Ping still held a favorable view of them. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have taken action to help. However, the Genesis analysis showed that the voracious ants possessed tremendous potential; in the end, it was uncertain who would emerge victorious. “Perhaps the ultimate world conqueror will not be either of these two clans. It’s very possible,” he mused.
Jiang Ping observed the Original World, not intending to intervene further. He had already provided the Human Clan with a powerful advantage; it was best to let them develop on their own. Any interference might hinder their progress.
Although the Human Clan and Ant Clan currently seemed the strongest, who knew if stronger clans might emerge in the future? With the red dragon Fahos slain, the Human Clan established its position of dominance, and the power of King Wuma was shaking the earth!
The death of the red dragon also bestowed a great treasure upon the Human Clan. The dragon was covered in precious materials, its scales impervious to weapons and resistant to fire and water. Apart from the Spear of Destiny, they could find no weapon to penetrate its defenses! Undoubtedly, the dragon scales would be forged into the most formidable armor, while the dragon flesh was exceptionally tender. However, only a few of the strongest warriors could handle the energy contained within the dragon meat.
As for the dragon blood, it was far more aggressive. Even the Human King risked his life to merge with it; apart from him, no one could bear the power of the dragon!
There was no other choice; the Human Clan’s experts could only seal the precious dragon blood, waiting for the next Human King to use it. After bathing in dragon blood, King Wuma regained his youth, standing once again at the peak of his life, leading his people to continuously expand their territory and grow in numbers.
The earth was vast. As the Human Clan expanded, other extraordinary magical beasts began to resist! “Human King Wuma, don’t think we’re afraid of you!”
The Griffin King glared angrily at the Human King from the heights, surrounded by a group of griffins, with other ferocious beasts lurking beneath.
Human King Wuma raised the spear high, flanked by fully armed warriors.
“Kill!”
With a roar from the Human King, the two factions collided instantly, a fierce struggle of race against race. Not an inch could be surrendered! No matter how brave the Human King was, he still had a headache facing the airborne beasts; it was an inherent advantage!
As long as the creatures on the ground showed a hint of weakness, the aerial creatures could pounce. Fully armed, the brave warriors fell one after another. Wuma swung the Spear of Destiny with bloodshot eyes, but in the end, both sides retreated, carrying the bodies of their dead and leaving a trail of mutual destruction! Time passed swiftly, and Human King Wuma had grown old and gray. In all these years, he had been diligent, constantly leading his people in territorial expansion and fierce battles against other extraordinary beasts. He had spent most of his life in conflict yet increasingly felt overwhelmed.
Wuma gazed blankly at his white hair; all his peers were long gone, and he had buried his beloved with his own hands! He understood that if it weren’t for bathing in dragon blood, he would have aged long ago!
“This year I have turned 300. It seems I’m stepping into my twilight years,” Wuma said wryly.
“Oh Human King, don’t say such things! With the Spear of Destiny in hand, you will surely lead us to greatness forever!”
A wise man nearby couldn’t help but interject. Under Wuma’s leadership, the Human Clan had risen from precarious beginnings to one of the strongest clans today, his contributions earning the respect of every clan member. “Who in heaven and earth can escape death? I have lived two lifetimes, surpassing many; even the mightiest dragons, far outliving us, ultimately succumb to age within a thousand years,” Wuma said, chuckling and shaking his head.
“I have no regrets in this life for the Human Clan. It’s time to prepare for selecting the second generation of leaders!”
The nearby human wise men were shocked, but ultimately remained silent, retreating to summon the others.
Wuma gazed out over the land as the sun began to set, the golden evening glow illuminating his face; his life was akin to the setting sun, soon to enter eternal night.
Had he truly lived without regrets?
“Perhaps only you could achieve eternity in this world,” Wuma murmured, recalling the Creator God who once appeared in his dreams.
Over the years, Wuma had explored the land. After enduring countless hardships to reach the end, he found himself before an endless ocean. Was the Creator God somewhere on land? Or in the skies? Or perhaps in the depths of the sea?
“How I wish to see you again,” Wuma said to himself. He did not seek the Creator God to inquire about the secret of immortality but wished to know if he had completed the task given to him back then!
Wuma gently stroked the Spear of Destiny and quickly made a decision.
Upon returning to the Central Ancestral Land, the news of the Human King’s abdication shocked the Human Clan, leaving countless in sorrow and many formidable warriors sharpening their claws in secret.
The sacred tree, Laxir, still thrived with vitality, seemingly capable of living forever. Even as the Human King, Wuma still bowed respectfully to the tree.
He knew that without the tree’s protection, the Human Clan might have perished long ago! It was said that the Central Sacred Tree was as old as the heavens themselves. It was not only the first creature in existence but also a seed planted by the Creator God! Despite facing several calamities, the tree had survived. If anyone in this world knew about the Creator God, it would surely be her! Gazing at the towering sacred tree, Wuma felt a deep sense of reverence. He softly inquired about the whereabouts of the Creator God, and after a long pause, a voice finally resonated in his mind.
“Most of my life has been spent in slumber. After several rebirths, I have forgotten much. I know no more about the Creator God than you. He does not exist in this realm; all I understand is that whenever a great calamity falls upon an era, he may manifest in the world, bringing new life to the coming era.”
Wuma gratefully thanked the sacred tree. From that day forth, he set up a grass hut beside it and began to transport large stones, preparing to carve a statue of the Creator God! Everyone thought that the Human King was unwilling to succumb to death, hoping for guidance from the Creator God, just as he had received divine enlightenment in his youth! “All things rise and fall; it is the law of nature. Even the sacred tree has faced its own rebirth. Who can achieve immortality except for the Creator God?” an elder of the Human Clan shook his head, watching the brave king act foolishly, feeling a pang of sorrow.
