Chapter 28: The Strongest in Human History
by xennovelIt wasn’t just the news of the Alliance Master’s fall that weighed heavily; the last line of defense of the Sacred Alliance had been breached, and the Ants surged forward, poised to reach this place in half a day.
With no defenses left to hold, the human race had nowhere to retreat!
A grand sage clad in a magnificent battle robe led several top-tier experts into the fray.
“You all?”
“We have exhausted our life force to set up a grand sacrificial formation, aiding you in merging with the imprints of the previous Human Kings!”
With that, the sage and his companions centered around Gai Feng and commenced the mysterious formation.
He had made a name for himself a century ago, initially retreating to the mountains to wait for old age. But with the emergence of the Ant King, he reached out to an old brother for immediate assistance!
Streams of vibrant, diverse energy surged from them, and runes appeared in the formation, purifying the alien energy and continuously pouring it into the center, Gai Feng.
Gai Feng closed his eyes to absorb the immense energy, his mind fully immersed in the divine artifact in his lap. Meanwhile, the sages visibly aged at a shocking speed, their once-black hair turning white, their skin becoming loose and cracked.
One hour passed, and one by one, powerful beings fell to their eternal rest.
“We have given our all. How far you go depends on your fate! You must slay the Ant King and save the world!”
Gai Feng’s momentum surged rapidly, his clothing rustling. The tightly shut door suddenly burst open with a loud crash, and the towering trees outside were knocked back by the overwhelming aura.
“What’s this?”
A guard grasped a beam tightly, watching Gai Feng excitedly from within.
Gai Feng abruptly opened his eyes, a myriad of human battle figures flashing through his gaze.
He had extraordinary talent, enough to surpass the ancient Human Kings, and now, with the sacrifice of numerous mighty beings, he integrated the imprint of the Ninth Generation Human King.
At that moment, he broke biological limits, growing stronger than anyone could imagine! “The strongest in human history has been born!” Those who had rushed over marveled.
A verdant leaf appeared before Gai Feng’s eyes.
“What is this?” Gai Feng felt a flicker of realization in his heart.
This green leaf’s legend still flows through the oceans, nearly becoming the foremost artifact of the new era.
“This is the fortuitous treasure bestowed by the God of Luck during the youth of the seafaring king, Lu Fei!”
“Now, in the direst moment for humanity, the descendants of the Sea King willingly offer it!”
Gai Feng silently observed the surrounding mighty beings; their eyes glimmered with deep hope.
Lastly, he glanced at the bodies of the sages who had assisted him in cultivation and actively offered their sacrifices.
“Even if I have to shatter my own bones, I will slay the Ant King and fulfill their trust!”
Gai Feng solemnly accepted the green leaf, rising to wave his hand:
“Implement the Fallen King Plan!”
…
Jiang Ping hurriedly sat upright, preparing to watch this monumental battle. Could humanity manage to turn the tide as before?
“Even though Gai Feng has inherited the Ninth Generation Human King’s legacy, making him the strongest in human history, there remains a significant gap between him and the Ant King. The outcome of this battle is still uncertain!”
Jiang Ping took out some chips with his right hand, pinching one between two fingers and smiling as he popped it into his mouth. “In ancient times, the human sages successfully held back the Ants. What about this time?”
This unknown was the most captivating thing. Jiang Ping couldn’t help but speed up, eager to see the story’s conclusion. After all, regardless of who won, he wouldn’t lose.
“You all go ahead and fight; if I intervene personally, consider it my loss!”
In the Original World, the atmosphere was tumultuous. A storm was brewing, and the overwhelming Ant Army, led by the Ant Queen, advanced toward the last pure land of the world.
In this central ancestral land, countless offspring from various tribes stared blankly at the distant army. They were the last seeds of the myriad races! The kings of the races had already led all their elite to remain steadfast at the customs with the Alliance Master.
The frontline soldiers gripped their spears tightly, tears glistening in their eyes, but not a single sound of weeping escaped their lips.
The captain had long told them: would you prefer to be a coward for life or a hero, even if only for three minutes? Even in death, one should take a bite out of the Ants! In the heart of ten thousand soldiers, three Ant Queens reverently offered the Ant King homage. Beou sat ensconced on a throne made of dragon bones, ruling over all.
As the throne advanced, it was carried by four heroes of the Ant Clan! “My King, if we can conquer this last piece of land, the world will be under your control! You will accomplish what even the ancient Ant Queen could not!”
One Ant Queen couldn’t suppress her excitement.
Domination of the world was now just one step away! While another Ant Queen was excited, she remained level-headed.
“In ancient times, Belsha pressed humanity into a corner repeatedly, yet they turned the tables. Since the beginning of this new era, humanity’s alchemy technology has advanced rapidly, so my King must tread carefully. What else might they have hidden up their sleeves?”
Seeing Beou’s calm expression, the Ant Queen breathed a sigh of relief. The king’s aura was overwhelmingly strong; even an Ant Queen could lose her life over a misplaced word! She continued, “Just in case, we can have our sons deploy the entire army and use numbers to force out their last defenses!”
Ant King Beou smirked dismissively, “Aside from the divine weapon, the Spear of Destiny, I hold no regard for anything else in the world!”
The three Ant Queens exchanged glances, realizing that saying any more might provoke the King’s displeasure, quickly ordering an acceleration of the army’s advance.
Boom! The soldier Ants ahead had reached shooting range. The explosive sound ignited the battlefield, and countless deafening explosions erupted in an instant.
The smoke from the cannon fire engulfed the heavens and the earth. Within a minute, a hundred thousand soldier Ants perished, their severed limbs littering the ground. Yet behind them, massive waves of soldier Ants continued to pour forth, like an endless tide of despair.
The Ant army advanced through death, but this time their gains were minimal.
There was no retreat behind them; the human race was fighting with their backs against the water! Every dreadful weapon was brought forward!
In fact, even the experimental weapons still under development were rolled out, along with many morally repugnant and taboo artillery.
These cannons, terrifying in power, could wipe out all life within a thousand meters with a single shot. Humanity would only deploy them in dire circumstances!
They were on the brink of extinction; who cared about the floods of catastrophe afterward! Suddenly, a deafening roar echoed across the chaos of the battlefield.
“Is the Ant King there!”
Beou slammed his armrest forcefully, “How dare those on the brink of death be so disrespectful!”
A massive surge of energy shot skyward as the Ant King was enveloped in swirling black energy, his figure emanating a terrifying killing intent as he fixed his gaze on the silver figure across from him.
Gai Feng donned the divine leaf around his neck, gripped the Spear of Destiny firmly in his right hand, and clad in the strongest battle armor, he pointed his spear at the Ant King, “As the engulfing Ants sweep through the land, exterminating the myriad races, do you truly intend to carry out an act of total annihilation!”
The Ant King’s blood-red eyes finally turned serious. He focused intently on the silver spear.
“Just like the aura of the Stone of Truth; it truly is the Spear of Destiny!”
The Ant King didn’t respond to the strongest human’s question, as it seemed to him that apart from the Spear of Destiny, nothing else warranted his attention.
Gai Feng continued to reprimand, “You must know everything has a destiny; you lead the engulfing Ants to annihilate all life, yet you too shall walk the path to annihilation. At the end of the ancient era, the heavens sending disaster to destroy the Divine Tree is the precedent!”
Ant King Beou snapped back to reality, casting a cold glance at Gai Feng, “Why should I explain my actions to you? Survival of the fittest is the way of kings! The weak races should be exterminated, leaving only the Ants to dominate the world! Moreover,”
Beou swept a dismissive gaze across the heavens, “Who dares to bring calamity upon me? If the heavens dare to strike me with thunder, I will tear the heavens apart with my own hands! I determine my life, not the heavens!”
