Chapter 33: The Divine Altar of Sacrifice
by xennovelUh, this is, of course, the divine gift—the Spear of Destiny.
Bean-sized droplets of cold sweat streamed down the Ant Queen’s forehead.
She feared that a careless answer would lead this tyrant to strike at her.
“Then do you know what material it is made of?”
The Ant Queen recalled the many ancient texts she had perused.
“According to the records of human history, the Spear of Destiny and the Stone of Truth are composed of unknown materials. After a million years of research by humanity,
they found that no substance in the world can compare to those artifacts; not even mixed metals bear a semblance to them.”
“And what is above us?”
The Ant King raised his spear toward the sky and pressed for an answer again.
The Ant Queens looked up, piercing through the magnificent palace, their gazes landing on the brilliant sun and the many stars that couldn’t be seen in daylight.
With a flash of inspiration, the Ant Queen replied, “The stars! The starry sky!”
“Correct.”
The Ant King nodded. “You aren’t completely foolish after all.”
Another Ant Queen spoke up, “My liege, I once ordered our strongest flying ant hero to ascend into the sky with all his might. But he reported that when he reached about 100,000 meters above the ground,
he felt as though he had encountered a barrier of the Deep Ocean, preventing any further ascent. Though he could see the starry sky, he probably couldn’t enter it!”
“Indeed,” another Ant Queen chimed in. “I consulted the ancient texts of various races. Some wise ones speculate that while the stars exist, they are likely projections of another higher realm,
just as the Genesis God isn’t found in every corner of the world; He likely resides alongside the stars in the Divine Realm!”
The Ant King tapped his fingers. “Our journey is towards the starry sea! Relay my orders: the warriors of all clans must engage in fierce battles against each other so that stronger warriors may emerge. At the same time, dispatch our greatest ant heroes to explore the four corners of the earth,
as well as the Deep Ocean and the high skies, to seek out the limits of our world and draw up the most complete map of it, depicting its barriers!”
Yes! Yes! The Ant Queens couldn’t contain their fervor. The Ant King’s ambitions were clear; he wanted to break through the barriers of the world and reach other realms!
The Carnivorous Ants stirred once more, and the unsheathed blades aimed at their fellow kin began to fall.
Meanwhile, the strongest batch of ant heroes hurried to various corners of the world. When Jiang Ping, returning from a meal, saw the scene, he chuckled, “You always manage to surprise me with something new.”
He had vaguely guessed the Ant King’s intentions; this truly bold demon king seemed set on causing trouble for him!
“Heh, you’ve devoured nearly everything in your world, and now you wish to find the stars outside the realm, feeling trapped within your world?”
Jiang Ping smiled as he looked at the bustling ant colony.
It appeared the Carnivorous Ants were aiming to develop towards the interstellar insect race, trying to break through the dimensions of space in order to seek him out!
“Genesis, do you think the Ant King has gotten a bit too inflated with power?”
Jiang Ping asked Genesis with a smile; he didn’t dislike this unexpected twist.
Genesis replied, “The Ant King’s emergence is indeed a defiance of fate. By all accounts, a creature of his caliber shouldn’t exist, surpassing the ordinary combat strengths of this world. His power differs entirely from other beings,
disrupting the balance of this realm, leading to the once-thriving era of myriad races being shattered, resulting in a singular dominance of one tribe. In the final confrontation, I expected you would intervene secretly, allowing the Carnivorous Ants to confront the myriad races and challenge each other’s potential—
that would have yielded the greatest benefit for you.”
Jiang Ping raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything further.
Within the Original World, a massive map depicting the complete barriers of the world was slowly drawn by the Ant Queens.
Originally, the world was round and square; at the end of the last era, war raged endlessly as the Supercontinent crumbled, and fragments of land scattered across the globe.
Over the years, the Ant King, wielding a black spear, frequently traversed the barriers of the world, attempting to find spatial flaws. The Ant King had exerted all his strength several times.
Divine light shone upon the world—too glaring for the Ant Queens to behold—yet the barriers rippled without showing any signs of breaking.
In truth, such spatial ripples had never appeared in history.
The hardness of the world barriers rendered the arrogant Ant King silent; he couldn’t even take the first step on his journey of ten thousand miles!
Moreover, with the ant colony turning against one another, though many elite heroes emerged, resources were drained completely, preventing the creation of new troops. The strength of the Carnivorous Ants was actually regressing!
It was as if they were at their strongest just after annihilating the myriad races!
“Does my tribe really have to face extinction?”
One Ant Queen said anxiously. At that moment, she suddenly recalled the words spoken by a wise human before his death.
The relentless slaughter by the Carnivorous Ants, leaving no trace of life, would ultimately lead to their own graves!
This time, the Ant King did not strike down this Ant Queen.
“I refuse to accept this!”
In the dead of night, an Ant Queen heard this voice coming from within the central palace.
Unable to break free from the bonds of the world, and with the resources of the world drained, the cycles were broken; the Carnivorous Ants were weakening day by day.
A thousand years later.
Carnivorous Ant tribes betrayed each other, devouring their kin and even slaughtering opposing Ant Queens to ensure their own survival!
The entire world became riddled with wounds; black fog obscured sunlight, and even the last rays of energy, sunlight, ceased to illuminate the ground.
The Ant Queens and the Ant heroes were in despair. At this rate, the Carnivorous Ants would surely be wiped out! “Is this our punishment? To devour all things and slay myriad races, only to sever our own lifeline?”
A powerful Ant hero despaired as he recalled leading an army to siege the human race on the front line, mercilessly slaying all living beings across the continent decades ago.
“My Lord! Are you really going to just watch our tribe perish?”
Some fearless Ant heroes began to rush at the Ant King and, inevitably, were struck down by him in a single move.
The crowd’s fury was palpable; the Ant King had to take action now! This was the moment of life and death for the Carnivorous Ants!
“Use the strength of our entire tribe to build the Divine Altar of Sacrifice!”
Countless Ants erupted in jubilation. There’s nothing more terrifying than despair. When there’s hope, miracles will be created! With a command from the Ant King, the Carnivorous Ants worldwide were mobilized, and countless precious materials were yielded, forming the center of the world, exactly where the sacred tree was once planted.
A stunning altar, towering a thousand meters high, was gradually constructed, with an even more magnificent and imposing statue at the front.
The statue represented the creator of all things—the Genesis God.
His stature was so grand that even the rising sun was obscured by Him; no praise in the world could capture a fraction of His glory.
In the face of extinction, the Carnivorous Ants shone their brightest. This miraculous world structure was completed in just ten years.
On the day of its completion, the Ant King issued the highest order for the entire clan. Millions of Carnivorous Ants poured in from around the world, gathering around the Divine Altar of Sacrifice.
Presided over by the Ant King himself, dozens of Ant Queens stood to the sides, leading thousands of Ant heroes in a grand ceremony.
The largest sacrifice in history began!
And the supreme offering at the top was actually a fossil bearing a footprint!
