Chapter 74: The Holy Sword of Original Sin
by xennovelThe Great War of the Hill World has begun, led by the Ancestor Deity and his three children as they assault the Crown of Heaven, while Uriel defends with four colossal giants.
This battle shook the very heavens and earth, branches swaying and leaves flying.
In the end, both sides retreated, swollen and bruised. The Ancestor Deity gained no advantage this time; the Crown of Heaven still belonged to the Titan giants.
The five giants celebrated their victory atop the World Tree, while Ancestor Deity Carl brooded, gently caressing the trunk of the tree.
“Mother, you gave birth to both Uriel and me. Why am I so much weaker than him?”
Rahil sighed deeply; it was hard to remain neutral when she should be, but she still took action.
At the very tip of the World Tree, a branch that had been nurturing for millennia suddenly broke off and fell!
As it fell, the branch gradually transformed into a holy sword! The hilt glimmered golden, with a green heart of the tree embedded in the center, and upon grasping the hilt, one could see the silhouette of the World Tree entwined along the silvery blade — countless verdant branches spread out, wrapping the sword in a regal, mysterious, unimaginable aura.
That night, Ancestor Deity Carl raised the holy sword, transformed from the tip of the World Tree, embodying all the rules and light of the world; it was the strongest artifact in existence. No competition!
The emergence of this sword sparked countless future disputes. Its birth introduced the concept of ‘weapons’ to the world.
The holy sword shone with a white light as dazzling as the sun, piercing through layers of leaves, even allowing Uriel atop the Crown of Heaven to catch a glimpse of its brilliance.
The God of the Sky, the God of the Sea, and the Earth Goddess stared at the artifact in their father’s hand, an instant shift in the world’s fabric. This moment would be etched in the annals of history! “Alas, Rahil was too soft-hearted!”
Jiang Ping sighed, knowing what would follow even without access to power.
With the existence of weapons, came slaughter, then war, and ultimately desires.
As Jiang Ping expected, the next day, Ancestor Deity Carl wielded the holy sword and challenged the progenitor giant yet again. This time, Uriel’s massive head was severed by the holy sword.
Crimson blood spilled from the severed neck. Boom! Uriel’s head, filled with disbelief, tumbled into the endless ocean of Chaos.
He never imagined his brother Carl would kill him, nor did he foresee that anything could pierce his defenses so easily!
Ancestor Deity Carl was drenched in blood, the splattering crimson, even hitting his face. He was stunned, having intended to merely teach Uriel a lesson! “Father!”
The giants of Earth, Water, Wind, and Fire roared, madly attacking Ancestor Deity Carl. Still in shock from mistakenly killing his brother, the Earth Giant Bell struck him with a furious blow! Ancestor Deity Carl fell!
The God of the Sky, Ura, with bloodshot eyes, snatched the holy sword, leaping onto the giant arm of Bell, wielding it with all his might! Whoosh! The head of Earth Giant Bell fell, his body turning to soil.
A chaotic battle was inevitable; this conflict marked the beginning of the world’s turmoil! The progenitor giant Uriel had fallen, his head sinking into the ocean of Chaos, while his body transformed into three worlds.
The Earth Giant fell, turning into boundless land; the Wind Giant perished, while the Fire Giant, Gil, and the severely wounded Water Giant, Mil, fled with deep hatred.
Ancestor Deity Carl fell, merging with countless rules in the newly born world.
On this day, the God of the Sky stood atop the giants’ corpses, brandishing the strongest holy sword, heralding the dawn of the Divine Era.
A faint sigh echoed across the ocean of Chaos, yet Ura, who wielded the strongest power, was oblivious.
In the newly created world, at the highest point of the World Tree, abundant in spiritual energy and principles, capable of surveying all worlds below, this most powerful realm was occupied by the Three Gods, known as the Divine Realm.
Among the leaves below was a battleground for the gods and giants, with many territories claimed by the Elves born from the corpse of the Wind Giant.
Sadly, while these little fellows were strong, they could only shiver before two titans. It’s said this is why they cherished peace.
Even lower down amongst the branches was the giant’s kingdom, occupied by the Fire Giant Gil, who proliferated with the Water Giant, leading to more and more powerful giants, including Cyclopes and Hecatoncheires.
Each one a warrior capable of resisting heaven, yet against the holy sword, they still fell short!
After acquiring the holy sword, Ura became arrogant, forcibly occupying Gaia. His brother, the God of the Sea, dared not voice his anger.
Gaia birthed the Twelve Ancient Gods, growing stronger. Every millennium, gods and giants clashed in the elf world, shaking the heavens and sending beautiful elves fleeing in terror.
The giants were constantly beaten down; eventually, they had to resort to enslaving the elves, using them as cannon fodder.
Only then could they barely maintain a status quo with the gods. Yet even so, the giant’s kingdom was always on the brink of annihilation.
After all, the gap between the Elves and the gods was too great; they could only make the gods put a bit more thought into slaughtering giants to first eliminate the elves.
Finally, one day, the wise giant among them began to secretly contact the God of the Sea. While the God of the Sky and Gaia were engaged in their affairs, the Sea God Toth stealthily took the holy sword! Toth had long harbored dissatisfaction, and with one swing of the sword, the first generation of God King Ura fell instantly, his divine body transformed into the sky. Meanwhile, the giants seized the opportunity and invaded the Divine Realm!
On this day, the gods nearly perished due to infighting. When the Sea God Toth realized he had been used, it was already too late.
Ultimately, in their resistance, he and the Fire Giant Gil perished together. Before dying, the holy sword was thrown to the third generation of God, Ark.
Ark was the God of Space, especially after the first generation of God King perished; he inherited part of the Sky God’s divinity. He raised the holy sword and bravely expelled the giants from the Divine Realm.
Afterward, the second generation God Ark could no longer resist seizing Gaia and his sister. To avoid repeating history, he banished the other ten siblings from the Divine Realm and let them seek refuge on the World Tree.
Together with Gaia and his sister, Ark birthed the Fourth Generation Gods, and along with the other ten deities intermingling, the pantheon grew increasingly large, continuously waging war against the giant’s kingdom.
The elf world fell under the gods’ control, and the giant kingdom suffered immense losses, eventually descending to the foot of the tree! If attacked again by the Divine Realm, they’d be expelled from the World Tree, lost in the ocean of Chaos, consumed by the rampaging waters! Facing death, the wise giant acted once more, uniting with a third-generation giant who had long been displeased with the God King, birthing the hybrid being possessing the ultimate talent — Yuer.
Yuer wielded the lightning principle, and with his father’s assistance, successfully seized the holy sword, slaying the second generation God King Ark. It’s said even Ark’s reproductive organs were severed, transforming into a new god.
The only surviving second generation goddess, Gaia, lost interest in the world and had no desire to remain a goddess. She chose to become the embodiment of the earth, eternally sleeping, her soul forever accompanying Mother Nature Rahil.
The third generation God King Yuer became terrifyingly powerful, wielding the strongest holy sword, killing indiscriminately. Yet, having giant blood, he still spared the giant kingdom.
From that day forward, the giant kingdom fell to the lowest edge of the World Tree, never to bask in light again.
They constantly longed to retaliate against the Divine Realm and return to the Crown of Heaven, as the third generation God King ascended. However, he was not a true deity; even after marrying a goddess, challengers continually arose.
The holy sword soaked in the blood of brethren, eventually even striking down the Father God!
On this day, the World Tree Rahil trembled, three worlds shaking. The giant king of the giant kingdom, the Water Giant Mil, turned pale:
“Mother of All Things, Rahil is angry!”
On this day, the strongest holy sword transformed into a streak of light and flew from the God King’s hand, returning to the very tip of the World Tree.
Rahil’s voice echoed through the world: “The King of the World can only conquer all with his own strength!”
This strongest holy sword is known as the Holy Sword of Original Sin, the Sword of Victory, the Sword of the God King, or the Sword of the Tree.
It carries countless titles and honors, the holy sword all people in the world yearn for.
It is also the starting point for all disputes; it’s the origin of weapons. Its disappearance marks the end of the Old God Era. In the next chapter, we witness the birth of our human race.
