Chapter 87: The Emerald Godfall Bow
by xennovelIs it because of that beautiful woman from earlier?
Hearing Xilin’s determination to fight to the death, Obi speculated that the bond between the two clearly hadn’t formed overnight.
“Are you talking about Yani?”
At the mention of her name, a gentle look appeared on Xilin’s face, almost unconsciously. “She’s the daughter of the lord of my first city-state, and she’s supported me all these years, standing by my side. That’s certainly part of it.”
As Xilin spoke, Obi realized he couldn’t change Xilin’s mind. “Everyone has their own aspirations; it’s not fair to impose mine. Luckily, in this game, dying won’t have any real-world consequences.”
As they chatted, both men laughed, drifting away from the somewhat heavy topic.
“What brings you all the way out here?” Xilin asked, puzzled.
The surviving players were all busy individuals now, each one hard to track down.
Obi chuckled, “Well, I heard you were gearing up for a massive battle. The outcome of this fight is bound to stir up quite a storm, catching the attention of countless spectators, either in the Middle Garden world or the Forum.
No telling how many people are watching; I’m just here to see if I can lend a hand. I initially intended to bring another swordplay player along, but they decided against it, thinking it wouldn’t matter.”
Xilin gave Obi a curious glance. “You seem like just a top-tier Gold-ranked fighter. While that places you among the strongest, it won’t do much here against a holy-tier expert.”
“Haha!” Obi laughed.
“Don’t underestimate me just because I’m not the strongest; I have this!”
Saying that, Obi unfurled the cloth wrapping a longbow from his back. The tattered fabric slowly revealed it, casting a green glow that illuminated the entire room.
The green light flashed before quickly fading back into the bow.
Xilin stared in shock at the longbow; its green body resembled the finest jade, smooth and inviting. It was hard to see it as just a weapon—it appeared more like a stunning piece of craftsmanship.
The ends of the bow were unembellished, only occasionally reflecting a glint of white light to catch the eye.
“Is this really an Artifact?”
Xilin exclaimed. Although there were artifacts within the alliance, they were so rare that he could count them on one hand, each one acquired after tremendous effort at great cost.
The tales surrounding artifacts could fill a book, so it was shocking that Obi had managed to find one all on his own.
“This Artifact is called the Emerald Godfall Bow!” Obi declared with a grin.
Xilin was taken aback. “It’s actually left behind by the Elven Goddess! Obi, you truly are full of surprises!”
“It’s not just me who stumbled upon fortunes; Rixiang has a divine sword! None of the remaining players are ordinary!” Obi replied earnestly.
Xilin nodded. After all, they were chosen among the best by the game creators. Surviving all this time undoubtedly meant they all possessed remarkable qualities.
“What are these?”
Observing as Obi presented three arrows that resembled branches, Xilin asked curiously.
“Given that this is a major event affecting the Middle Garden, I’m bringing out my most precious items to assist you. These three arrows were left behind by the Elven Goddess.
It’s said they were crafted from the branches of her Divine Tree and hold unimaginable power!
It’s precisely because I have these three arrows that I dared to come help!”
Xilin quickly clasped his fists and bowed, “I can’t thank you enough! After this battle, if you need anything, I, Xilin, will go through fire and water without a second thought!”
He then pondered, “I thought I was the greatest player, but clearly, you’ve faced incredible trials too. I bet you’ve received the Elven Goddess’s inheritance, right? It’s quite surprising that she’d bestow it upon a human!”
Obi shook his head, looking pained. “Receiving this Artifact wasn’t easy at all, and for the full inheritance, I still need to visit the strange world and talk to the Elves.
You are indeed currently the top player, but the others are formidable too. Rixiang is nearly becoming the Sword Saint, and the renowned literary figure Xián Yú has made quite a name for himself in the Middle Garden.
Not just humans—many famous formidable beings from other races have become his fans.”
Upon hearing the name of the famous literary figure Xián Yú, Xilin smiled. This writing virtuoso had been diligently producing works all these years.
He’s brought countless legendary stories from Earth into the Middle Garden world, so much so that many in the alliance are now discussing the fantastical tales of Earth, giving him a strange sense of time distortion.
“He’s seeking to gather followers to ignite the Divine Flame and ascend! But that path won’t be so easy!” Xilin concluded.
Obi nodded, acknowledging, “In this world, no being has ever ascended to godhood through followers; there must be difficulties involved.
Even the Elven Goddess only achieved consciousness for her life tree through devotion from her own kind—she took form and became a deity!”
Each player has their own path, and Xilin understood that he was currently in the lead but wondered what rising stars might catch up later.
Suddenly, he remembered, “It’s been a while since I heard news about Tianjiao—didn’t he reach the Giant Kingdom? His screenshots showed buildings that were increasingly rugged and grand!”
Thinking of this player, Obi laughed, “He seems to be busy mining and building now, and there are talks of him improving. He’s got a bit of recognition among the Dwarves and is even getting to manage a small quarry by himself.”
Laughter echoed through the hall. “Achoo!”
On the distant edge of the Giant Kingdom, a person entirely cloaked in black sneezed loudly, prompting the Dwarves nearby to comfort him.
Ning Tianjiao urged them to focus on their tasks. “It must be that fellow mentioning me again.”
He raised a hand to wipe the dark layer of dust from his face, revealing a bright smile as he admired his creation.
A massive figure, three meters tall, rounded and balloon-like, with its cap constantly bobbing.
Ning Tianjiao decided to name it: Prototype Magic Engine!
This world possesses peculiar rules; Ning Tianjiao struggled to create technological products here. The magic engine he produced is less a scientific machine and more an efficient magical tool! In the Middle Garden world, the two players spent countless hours exchanging insights.
Laughter filled the hall intermittently. The Guards were astonished; ever since Gilgamesh’s appearance, Xilin hadn’t been this joyful.
Time passed slowly. Thousands of warships lay on the ocean like giants, and waves of elite soldiers, armed to the teeth, boarded the ships.
In the distance, troops kept converging as legendary warriors followed Xilin into the largest flagship—the Royal Ark.
The Royal Ark stretched 500 meters long, with a statue of the Goddess of Love standing at its bow, and the hull was inscribed with countless powerful magical arrays!
Not to mention the ten powerful magical cannons forged from rare magic stones—everything added to the coalition’s confidence! Today, the Qina Sea was calm, with the sky clear and cloudless. Beautiful melodies occasionally drifted across the waters, sung by the Sirens, who often bewitched passing sailors.
White seagulls soared across the sky, their cheerful calls blessing the warriors setting out.
Xilin contained his excitement and, under the gazes of the crowd, began his pre-battle declaration!
On the other side of the Qina Sea, a dazzling array of silver armor shone brighter than the surface of the sea. Soldiers, neatly attired, stood at attention under the watchful gaze of King of Gold.
Gilgamesh, clad in golden battle armor and wielding the Disruptor Sword, surveyed the soldiers.
He stared at the indomitable hero-king.
Soldiers gazed up in admiration, their voices roaring with confidence, “Kill!” Their powerful shouts shattered the clouds in the sky.
Thus, a battle destined to be etched in history began!
