Chapter 146: Intimate Moments and Hidden Ambitions
by xennovelHan Wenwen took the hair dryer and stepped in front of Lin Zheng Ran, but since she wasn’t tall enough, she had to rise on her pink toes and crane her neck to dry his forehead.
That was exactly what Han Wenwen wanted—it let her rest one hand on Lin Zheng Ran’s chest.
Her slender, pale hand gently touched his solid muscles, the feel making her heart race; biting her lip, she felt a thrill of satisfaction from her sneaky victory.
Still, she had to focus part of her mind on drying his hair properly.
Lin Zheng Ran noticed her tense, awkward posture, like she was juggling two things at once.
“Aren’t your toes getting tired like that?”
Han Wenwen shook her head slightly: “Not at all~ Serving Brother Zheng Ran is never tiring. I’m meant to take care of you.”
Lin Zheng Ran had no idea where this little fox picked up all her flirty lines.
A minute later, Han Wenwen tried to reach his top of his head, but even on tiptoes, it was impossible.
She grinned awkwardly: “I’m not tired, but you’re just too tall—I can’t reach. My arms aren’t long enough. How about you sit on the bed? I have an outlet there too.”
Lin Zheng Ran reached for the hair dryer: “Let me handle it myself. Otherwise, any hair that falls will end up on your bed, and that’ll be a mess to clean.”
But Han Wenwen refused to hand it over, hugging it close.
“No way~ A couple of hairs on the bed? I’d love that. I want pieces of you staying with me so I can sleep easy.”
“Does that sound normal to you?”
Han Wenwen tilted her head, biting her lower lip, her fox-like eyes full of allure: “What can I say? I like you~ I’d never turn away anything from Brother Zheng Ran.”
In the end, they moved the whole scene to the bed.
They’d gotten back early, so it was only just past two in the afternoon.
Outside, the day was bright, and on this Saturday, sounds of kids playing, dogs barking, and cats meowing drifted up from the residential area below.
Lin Zheng Ran sat on the bed, leaning against the covers, while Han Wenwen plugged in the hair dryer and knelt beside him to start drying his hair.
This made things much easier.
Her hand drifted from his shoulder to his chest now and then.
The hair dryer’s steady hum turned his damp strands smooth and dry.
Lin Zheng Ran casually noticed the silk stockings on this little fox’s legs.
They hugged her skin so perfectly, outlining her curves in a fascinating way—maybe a bit early in the day for them, but now that he looked, they suited her just right.
It was as if they were made exactly for her.
Han Wenwen, always sharp, caught his gaze and teased while drying his hair: “Brother Zheng Ran, you’re so naughty~ Staring at my legs like that. Are they really that captivating?”
Lin Zheng Ran shot back: “You’re one to talk. You’ve been eyeing my upper body the whole time. Is it that mesmerizing?”
Han Wenwen faltered, glancing at him awkwardly and huffing: “How can you say that about a girl? It makes me sound so unladylike. I haven’t been staring—at least not right now.”
She focused on the top of his head.
Lin Zheng Ran looked down to see her hand on his stomach.
“So you’re not staring now, but you’ve gone straight to touching? Tell me, why’s your hand on my stomach while you’re drying hair?”
Han Wenwen dropped the act, feeling his muscles: “What do you mean touching? This is just holding on. I need something to steady myself while I work.”
When Lin Zheng Ran moved her hand away, she panicked.
Lin Zheng Ran said: “You can hold the blanket behind you or my shoulder. Just don’t touch me.”
“No! I won’t~ I like holding your stomach. And what do you mean don’t touch you? You’re mine, so I will touch!”
Han Wenwen pulled her hand back and placed it on his stomach again: “Besides, everyone’s different. My style just fits holding your stomach best.”
Lin Zheng Ran tired of the back-and-forth, pulled out his phone and saw a message from Jiang Jingshi.
Jiang Jingshi: “The paperwork’s almost done—just the last two approvals coming soon. But next week, you need to stop by and sign a few documents; they require both our signatures.”
Lin Zheng Ran replied: “Got it, Jiang Jie. I’ll head over next week. Thanks for handling all this.”
Jiang Jingshi: “Handling paperwork’s no big deal. Oh, and I just thought of something—the New Star List rankings are about to drop. Does Lily have her own video account? We could ride this wave and set one up; it might boost her earnings a lot.”
Lin Zheng Ran: “I mentioned videos to her before. I’ll talk to her again next week.”
Jiang Jingshi: “Alright, then. I’ve got to get back to work. Call me if you need anything, Zheng Ran.”
“Will do, Jiang Jie.”
Lin Zheng Ran put his phone away, only to find Han Wenwen leaning forward, her chin on his shoulder, peering at his screen. She’d only caught the last couple of lines and was curious: “Jiang Jie?”
Han Wenwen stared at him and asked: “Who’s Jiang Jie, Brother Zheng Ran?”
Lin Zheng Ran turned to see her intense gaze, the hair dryer still buzzing.
This little fox’s eyes were full of suspicion, jealousy, and a hint of protectiveness.
Lin Zheng Ran answered: “Didn’t I tell you before? I know this older sister. You even smelled her on me last time. Lately, we’ve partnered up for a business venture and are sorting out the paperwork.”
“Business?” Han Wenwen turned off the hair dryer and sat back on her knees beside him, surprised: “Brother Zheng Ran’s starting a business now? What kind? Are you selling something?”
“Not exactly. I’ve been nurturing Lily and Heqing’s talents for years, but they needed platforms to compete, so they joined other studios. I think the time’s right now—we can’t keep relying on outsiders. So, I teamed up with Jiang Jie to start our own company.”
“Hmm~ I don’t fully get it, but does that mean Brother Zheng Ran’s already making a lot of money?”
Lin Zheng Ran replied: “The paperwork isn’t even finished yet, so no earnings yet. Maybe down the line.”
Han Wenwen blinked and smiled: “Oh, it’ll happen for sure. I’ve always known you’d be amazing. I can’t believe you’re starting a company while still in high school! My secretary dream might come true soon!”
She raised an arm: “Long live Brother Zheng Ran!”
Then she added: “By the way, do you need money right now? If not, I could give you some. I’ve got a few thousand saved up.”
“No need—you keep it for yourself.” Seeing her eager expression, like she wanted to contribute, Lin Zheng Ran added: “If I ever really need it, I’ll ask.”
That cheered up the little fox:
“Okay! We’re in this together—all for one and one for all. If Brother Zheng Ran’s running a company, I’ll be your capable secretary. Even if you end up begging on the streets, I’d hold the bowl right beside you. Wherever you go, I follow; whatever you do, I support unconditionally.”
Lin Zheng Ran sensed a blind spot in her words, but he patted her head and asked:
“What if I did something bad?”
Han Wenwen answered without hesitation:
“Then I’d do bad things too. I’m no saint—I’m your little fox. I only care about you, not right or wrong.”
Her personality meant she wasn’t joking; this fox’s future hinged on the person she adored.
Lin Zheng Ran knew that, so he touched her face: “Don’t worry. Things will only get better from here, not worse.”
Han Wenwen’s eyes lit up: “Right, Brother Zheng Ran, where’s your company? Can you take me to see it sometime?”
“Sure, when I get the chance, I’ll show you.”
Han Wenwen hugged his neck, but the conversation had moved on.
Lin Zheng Ran’s phone buzzed with another message.
It was from Jiang Jingshi.
Two pictures of different earrings.
Jiang Jingshi: “What do you think, Zheng Ran—which pair of earrings looks better? Or should I just get both?”
Now both Han Wenwen and Lin Zheng Ran were looking at the phone.
Han Wenwen blinked her fox-like eyes.
Jealousy hit her hard, and she puffed out her cheeks in annoyance.
