Chapter Index

That morning, while Lin Zheng Ran was on the phone with Pan Lin from the lab asking about any incidents at the company over the past couple of days, he picked up on her worried tone and guessed something had happened.

Sure enough, after some questioning, Pan Lin told him about Jiang Jingshi’s hospitalization a few days earlier.

Lin Zheng Ran simply asked, “Which room is she in?”

Once Pan Lin gave him the location, he replied, “Got it, I’ll go check on her,” and hung up.

In the hospital room at that moment, Jiang Qian and Fang Meng were worried because Jiang Jingshi had just experienced a brief dizziness, but then the door swung open.

Everyone turned to look at the doorway.

They expected it to be a doctor or nurse making rounds, but instead, the familiar figure that always brought a sense of security left all three slightly stunned.

Especially Jiang Jingshi, who never imagined he’d show up so suddenly.

Her tired eyes lit up in an instant, widening with surprise.

She even forgot about her illness and sat up.

Seeing the three of them there, Lin Zheng Ran greeted them: “You’re all here? How’s Jiang Jie’s health?”

Jiang Jingshi felt like she was in a dream. Over the past two days, the person she’d most wanted to see was Lin Zheng Ran—not just because he was searching for a cure, but because his presence calmed her heart and brought peace.

    “Zheng Ran…”

Lin Zheng Ran moved to Jiang Jingshi’s side and first checked her pulse with his hand. Now, his diagnostic skills were on a whole new level.

The third-level All-Encompassing Mastery gave him a detailed insight, allowing him to fully understand Jiang Jingshi’s current physical state.

After examining her pulse, he let out a breath of relief:

“The condition has worsened a bit, and she’s a little weak, but it’s nothing serious for now.”

“Lin Zheng Ran,” Jiang Qian said, looking at him. She knew her sister had been waiting for him these past few days, but she wasn’t sure exactly why.

Fang Meng was staring at Lin Zheng Ran too, holding back what she wanted to say.

In everyone’s eyes, his appearance always turned the impossible into possible.

Lin Zheng Ran turned to the two of them: “You’ve both been here for days, and you look exhausted. Go get some rest; I’ll handle things here.”

Neither of them spoke; all three just kept watching him.

    Lin Zheng Ran reminded them:

“Don’t worry, I’m not just visiting—I’m here to treat her. If you trust me, go rest and come back tomorrow. Maybe Jiang Jie will be recovered by then. Otherwise, you’ll just get in my way.”

Fang Meng’s eyes widened at his words. So, Lin Zheng Ran had been researching the Eldest Miss’s illness these past few days?

Jiang Qian’s cool eyes widened slowly, her voice shifting from doubt to excitement: “What do you mean, maybe my sister will recover tomorrow? Does that mean there’s a cure? Lin Zheng Ran, do you have a way?”

Lin Zheng Ran didn’t answer; he just smiled.

Jiang Qian stared into his confident eyes as always, and in a daze, she quickly responded:

“Alright, Fang Meng and I will leave now! If you can cure my sister, the Jiang Family will owe you a huge favor!”

Seeing the spark of hope return to Jiang Qian’s eyes, which had been full of despair, Fang Meng quickly added: “We won’t disturb you then. What time should we come back tomorrow?”

Lin Zheng Ran thought for a moment: “After noon, around twelve.”

They nodded, glanced at Jiang Jingshi one more time, said a quick goodbye, and left without hesitation.

Jiang Jingshi called after them: “You two be careful on your way home.”

In that short minute, the conversation between Jiang Qian, Fang Meng, and Lin Zheng Ran didn’t cover much—Lin Zheng Ran didn’t even explain how he’d treat the illness or what method he’d use—but in their eyes, they knew he wouldn’t make empty promises.

After Jiang Qian and Fang Meng left, Jiang Jingshi gazed at Lin Zheng Ran’s profile.

Her pale face carried a faint blush: “You’re here.”

She wanted to hug him, but Jiang Jingshi, who had never been in a relationship, didn’t dare.

Instead, she clenched her fists and stared at him intently.

Lin Zheng Ran looked back at Jiang Jingshi and casually sat on the edge of the bed: “Yeah, I just called Pan Jie, and she told me you were in the hospital, so I came straight over.”

Jiang Jingshi smiled from the heart: “I’m fine, you don’t need to worry too much. I even told her not to let you know, so I wouldn’t disturb you, but she did anyway.”

“I was the one who called her. How could she disturb me? Besides, I’ve already figured out a way to cure your illness, so that’s why I came.”

    “Hmm?”

Jiang Jingshi’s face was full of disbelief, as if she’d misheard.

After all, it had only been a few days?

This illness, deemed incurable by so many experts, couldn’t possibly be solved by Lin Zheng Ran in less than a week.

    Lin Zheng Ran repeated:

“I said I’ve developed something to cure your illness. It’s a bit unusual—probably no one’s ever taken it before—so after you take it, try to lie flat and stay calm. I’ll observe how your body reacts to the medicine.”

He was cautious because he wasn’t sure how a pill infused with spiritual energy would affect a normal person.

Jiang Jingshi barely heard the rest; she just said in disbelief: “You’re saying you’ve already made the medicine? So fast? Really, in less than a week?”

Lin Zheng Ran nodded: “Let’s just say our luck was better than expected.”

Luck? Jiang Jingshi didn’t buy that for a second.

She looked at him with a mix of wonder and awe, marveling at what kind of genius he was.

As her pupils trembled, tears she couldn’t hold back slipped from the corners of her eyes.

Lin Zheng Ran asked, puzzled: “What’s wrong?”

Jiang Jingshi, not understanding, replied with a shaky voice: “What do you mean, what’s wrong?”

She hadn’t even realized she was crying until she touched the tears on her cheeks and quickly wiped them away.

Mumbling to herself: “Why am I crying? I’m not sad at all. I just… I never thought you’d really find a way in such a short time.”

Lin Zheng Ran watched as Jiang Jingshi’s tears kept flowing, even as she wiped them and stared at him.

He realized that although her gentle expression seemed the same as always, and she believed he could find a solution,

deep down, she must have been terrified about her future life.

In a way, Jiang Jingshi was truly afraid of being bedridden for the rest of her life.

But Lin Zheng Ran’s words were like a beacon, turning her inner fears into hope for the future.

Seeing her so emotional, Lin Zheng Ran reached out to wipe her tears.

Just like last time in the car, the moment his hand touched her face, Jiang Jingshi couldn’t hold back and threw herself into his arms.

Lin Zheng Ran held her as she sobbed uncontrollably, comforting her: “Don’t cry; didn’t I tell you I’d find a way?”

Jiang Jingshi managed a teary smile and hugged him tightly.

Lin Zheng Ran stroked her long hair: “After a moment, we’ll get started on the treatment.”
