Chapter 248: Whispers in the Rainy Retreat
by xennovelOn the other two beds, Han Wenwen and Heqing also sat up in their pajamas.
Still sleepy, Heqing gazed at Lin Zheng Ran standing in the doorway with the front desk staff.
She tugged at the blanket and asked blankly, “What are you talking about?”
The front desk attendant smiled and repeated:
“I was saying our hotel on the first floor has the curator’s personal collection—models of various animals’ reproductive organs. If you’re interested, you can buy tickets to check it out downstairs.”
Han Wenwen’s fox-like eyes froze for a moment.
Heqing’s face turned bright red in an instant; she even wondered if she’d misheard.
How could those three words be said so directly?
“Reproductive organs…” she repeated, her voice even more dazed.
The staff member smiled: “Yes, exactly, models of reproductive organs.”
Lin Zheng Ran grabbed lunch, and the staff left.
During the meal, Lin Zheng Ran noticed the three had different expressions; Lily and Heqing were utterly embarrassed, while the little fox remained unfazed:
“After we eat, let’s go take a look.”
The three girls nodded as they ate their lunch.
They changed clothes and headed together to the hotel’s collection hall on the first floor.
The ticket price was surprisingly affordable—forty per person, not bad at all.
The collection hall was much larger than they expected, probably around 1,200 square feet.
It was filled with all sorts of cabinets and shelves holding various jars and clay models.
There were probably over a hundred kinds.
The models were fake, but the things in the jars were real, preserved specimens according to the staff.
They even had them sorted by size.
For example, the cat’s was only one centimeter.
And it had spines.
The gorilla’s was four centimeters.
There were also slugs’, dogs’, cows’, horses’, and the largest was the elephant’s, a meter long.
Lin Zheng Ran viewed it all with a scholar’s curiosity—it was quite interesting.
But the three little ones felt differently; Lily kept her lips pressed tight, her face flushed, and even the usually composed Han Wenwen had a hint of red on her cheeks.
She had thought it was no big deal, just small animal stuff, but once inside, it oddly reminded her of last week’s events and Lin Zheng Ran.
The most amusing was Heqing; since entering, she’d kept her head down, letting Han Wenwen lead her by the hand, her face red beyond words.
“This is way too much…”
Without someone guiding her, she’d probably bump into things left and right and not even finish browsing.
They left after a short while.
Outside the hot spring hotel, the rain poured harder than yesterday, a relentless downpour.
Even the packed Snack Street from yesterday was completely cleared out, deserted.
Lily stood at the hotel entrance, staring at the widespread rain; it felt more intense than in the city, with rain pounding the endless trees and the earthy scent thick in the air:
“What a heavy rain—looks like we can’t go out and play today.”
Lin Zheng Ran said, “Let’s head back to the room. We’ll rest there today and see about tomorrow.”
The three agreed in unison.
On the way back, no one spoke; they were all awkward from those so-called exhibits.
If the girls had come alone, it might have been fine, but viewing those artworks with Lin Zheng Ran made them feel shy.
Still, Han Wenwen gazed at Lin Zheng Ran’s back and bit her lip for no reason.
Back in the room, Lin Zheng Ran stood by the window watching the rain.
Heqing and Lily lined up for the restroom, while Han Wenwen sat on her bed, looking at Lin Zheng Ran by the window.
Suddenly, she clenched her fingers and let out a long sigh.
Then, clutching her stomach, she turned to Heqing and Lily: “Heqing, Lily, my stomach hurts a bit. I’ll use the public restroom outside.”
Heqing had just come out of the restroom and asked curiously, “Stomachache? Did you eat something bad from yesterday?”
Han Wenwen shook her head and chuckled, “I don’t know, but using the restroom in the room feels awkward. I’ll go to the public one.”
Heqing replied, “Go quickly then.”
Han Wenwen grabbed a pack of unopened tissues and hurried out of the room.
Her face flushed, she walked down the long hallway.
The little fox entered the public restroom; since all rooms in this hot spring hotel had private bathrooms, the public one was empty.
It was quiet and clean.
Han Wenwen stepped into a stall.
She locked the door and sat on the toilet.
But she didn’t actually go; instead, she sat there, hands covering her face, lost in thought.
Her face, already a bit red, slowly filled with a deeper blush, even more intense than Heqing’s in the collection hall.
Her cheeks burned.
“What am I even thinking… my mind is full of…”
She found the collection items pretty ordinary and only felt a little shy while browsing, mostly because they reminded her of Lin Zheng Ran.
But on the way back from the collection hall, as Han Wenwen watched Lin Zheng Ran’s back.
Watched his straight figure standing by the window, gazing at the mountain rain.
It vividly brought back that scene from last week in the hotel, when she knelt to help him.
Her heart raced, but not from excitement or fear.
It was more like a tingling sensation deep inside.
Now, Han Wenwen bit her lip, trying to steady her breathing.
But she couldn’t calm down.
Her breaths grew heavier instead of easing.
Each one carried the little fox’s unique scent.
Her chest rose and fell, and her eyes shimmered like they held their own light.
She knew she couldn’t settle her thoughts.
“Brother Zheng Ran…”
Han Wenwen leaned her head back against the stall wall, closed her eyes, and slowly ran her hand along her thigh.
As stories and movies say, every girl’s first time changes her, and Han Wenwen truly believed it now.
Because of that wonderful experience last time, she’d been craving it again these days.
Even if she forgot sometimes, a little trigger easily stirred those desires, making her want Lin Zheng Ran for real.
“Brother Zheng Ran… Wenwen wants you…”
After about ten minutes, Lin Zheng Ran in the hotel room received a message from Han Wenwen—just five words: “Come find me, quickly.”
At first, Lin Zheng Ran didn’t understand.
But then she sent another: “Brother Zheng Ran, hurry, please come.”
Lin Zheng Ran realized what might be happening and thought to himself, what is she up to?
He told Heqing and Lily, already sitting on their beds, “You two stay here; I’ll step out for a bit.”
Lily asked curiously, “What’s up, Zheng Ran? It’s raining hard outside—where are you going?”
Lin Zheng Ran said casually, “I’m heading downstairs to ask if there are any fun spots on the mountain. Otherwise, we’ll waste time looking tomorrow.”
Lily agreed and didn’t think more about it.
Heqing didn’t either; she was still embarrassed from the collection items, wondering how anyone collects such things.
She glanced at Han Wenwen’s empty bed and thought, even the usually flirty Wenwen must have felt awkward just now.
Pulling out her phone to check the time, Heqing suddenly remembered something:
“Wenwen’s been gone a while. Lily, how’s your stomach today?”
Lily leaned against the headboard, playing on her phone: “I’m fine, but with all the rain and food yesterday, an upset stomach is normal.”
Heqing blinked her innocent eyes: “True, though Wenwen usually has a strong stomach.”
