Chapter 284: Remedies and Family Ties
by xennovelAfter getting Lin Zheng Ran’s approval, Xiao Heqing nodded at her mom.
“He said it’s okay to call.”
Aunt He beamed with joy as the phone connected, and Heqing handed the phone to her mom.
Lin Zheng Ran’s voice burst from the phone first: “Aunt He, it’s been ages since I called you. How have you been?”
“Ran Ran, it’s true, it’s been so long since we talked. I’m doing just fine.”
Aunt He settled slowly onto the sofa and shushed her daughter and mom, signaling them to stay quiet as she put the phone on speaker.
Aunt He felt oddly nervous as she asked, “Ran Ran, how’s it going with you taking our Heqing out? Has she caused you any trouble?”
Adults always start with pleasantries, and Lin Zheng Ran was used to it. Meanwhile, Xiao Heqing sat there thinking, where did I cause any trouble?
Lin Zheng Ran replied, “Of course not. Heqing’s very well-behaved and doesn’t give me any hassle.”
Xiao Heqing’s face flushed, remembering how Lin Zheng Ran always said the same thing in bed on her birthday.
“It’s really kind of you to look after Heqing. Oh, Aunt He has one more thing to ask—do you know medicine, Ran Ran?”
“Yeah, a bit. You know I read a lot, so I dabble in all sorts of odd things. When I was young, I didn’t have the means, but now that I’m older, I’ve started experimenting more.”
The other day, I heard from Heqing that Grandma wasn’t feeling well—hurt her waist—so I whipped up some stuff and made medicine. I wonder if it helped after she took it?”
Aunt He was stunned to hear he made the medicine himself—something most people couldn’t pull off.
From the side, Grandma overheard and spoke up, her voice aged but full of delight:
“Ran Ran, you’re amazing! Grandma’s feeling great now, no pain in my waist at all. The doctors here said it was an incurable old problem, and I never thought I’d recover.”
It was Lin Zheng Ran’s first time talking to Heqing’s grandma: “Grandma, you’re there too? As long as you’re better, that’s what matters. I made that medicine just for you. After you take it,”
At that point, Aunt He and Grandma exchanged a look, and Grandma said into the phone, “Ran Ran, hold on a second—Grandma needs to grab some paper to jot down what you’re saying!”
Xiao Heqing quickly grabbed paper and a pen for Grandma.
Lin Zheng Ran smiled: “No need, Grandma, I’m just giving a simple reminder.”
Once they had the paper and pen, Aunt He set the phone aside and held the pen with utmost seriousness, as if chatting with a top expert: “Okay, go ahead, Ran Ran. We’re ready to note it down.”
Lin Zheng Ran felt a bit awkward on his end:
“The medicine I made can help with your waist injury and other minor issues, Grandma, but you’re getting on in years. Don’t go overdoing it just because you feel better.”
You can do some light exercise, handle easy tasks, or take walks and stroll around town, but don’t jump into heavy lifting—that could cause more damage.”
When Lin Zheng Ran refined that alchemy pill, he had checked it thoroughly, and it worked like the one he gave Jiang Jingshi.
In other words, the pill can treat illnesses and fix damaged parts of the body, which might extend life a bit in a way, but it doesn’t truly reverse aging or add years.
Even with the pill, the body still ages and weakens over time.
Unless it’s through intimate moments with me, Heqing, Wen Wen, and Lily—that’s what really boosts their lifespan, slows aging, and improves their skin.
Simply put, the effects of being together like that far outstrip the pill! After all, my body is full of spiritual power from cultivation, so when we share that, it’s like they’re absorbing pure spiritual essence, which is way stronger than a little pill.
Plus, I always give the three girls plenty each time.
Aunt He listened to Lin Zheng Ran’s advice, jotted it down, and nodded, then shot her mom a stern look: “Mom, see? Ran Ran said not to overdo it right away!”
Grandma was at a loss for words, thinking to herself that she hadn’t moved much in years, and now that she felt like new, she just wanted to get active again.
Grandma chuckled: “Got it, Ran Ran. I’m so grateful to you. Without that medicine, who knows how long I’d have been stuck in bed.”
“Don’t mention it. Just take it easy, stay active, and keep healthy.”
“Alright.”
Aunt He went on: “Aunt He is truly thankful. By the way, I heard Heqing say there’s one for me too. What kind of medicine is it?”
“Right, I sent Heqing two pills total—one for Grandma and one for you. Just take yours; it’s a tonic that will make you stronger with no side effects.”
Aunt He smiled: “I see. Lately, I’ve been working overtime, and my neck’s been bothering me, and…” She rubbed her neck, feeling a bit embarrassed, picked up the phone, and stepped aside to whisper.
“Aunt He stepped away with the phone; this is a bit embarrassing to say. I was thinking of going to the hospital this week, but since you know your medicine, Ran Ran, I’ll ask you. Lately, my lower body…”
Lin Zheng Ran heard it out and realized it wasn’t a big issue: “That’s minor. Just take that pill I sent, and it should help you out.”
Aunt He nodded with a smile.
She picked up the phone again and returned to the living room.
Lin Zheng Ran then reminded them over the phone:
“But Aunt He, Grandma, I have to warn you about something—the medicine I gave you, keep it quiet. It’s hard to make, takes a lot of time, and you can’t buy it anywhere. There’s only a few,
so if word gets out, I might have to give some away, and then you won’t have any when you need it. So, don’t tell anyone.”
In reality, now that Lin Zheng Ran was skilled, he could make one in seconds, but to avoid complications, it was best to say it was limited. That way, no one would spread the word.
Aunt He and Grandma nodded, understanding how precious the medicine was.
They figured something that effective had to be rare.
“I get it, Aunt He. Don’t worry, we won’t breathe a word. We don’t want to cause you any trouble.”
But then Aunt He thought of something else: “Though, since it’s so valuable…” She glanced at her daughter nearby:
“Ran Ran, what if I give my pill to Heqing instead? You said it has no side effects and builds strength. I’m doing okay, and my little issues could be fixed at the hospital, so maybe…”
Lin Zheng Ran laughed: “No need, Aunt He. I made that one specially for you. I get what you’re saying, but since Heqing’s with me, I’d never hold back the good stuff from her. So, you take yours and don’t worry about Heqing.”
On the sofa, Xiao Heqing blushed and bit her lip.
Aunt He relaxed at that: “Okay, okay! Aunt He feels so much better hearing that. We’re so grateful for something this precious—I don’t even know how to thank you!”
