Chapter 315: Unexpected Campus Guidance
by xennovelJiang Jingshi elegantly adjusted her glasses with her ring finger: “This pair has no prescription; it’s just for style.”
She explained: “I was tempted to try that teacher look with a female suit, but I thought it might be too formal for the first meeting with students, so I skipped it. Maybe I’ll wear it for you in private sometime. If I do, I can pair it with stockings.”
Lin Zheng Ran gave a meaningful nod.
He said: “Sure, that works.”
Jiang Jingshi hadn’t expected Lin Zheng Ran to agree so quickly. So, he actually likes this style.
Lin Zheng Ran got to the point: “So, Jingshi, how did you end up as a counselor? And my counselor at that?”
She replied gently:
“It’s a mix of reasons. First, because of my sister. She caused that scene at the banquet recently. I don’t think she’ll make much trouble, and I know you don’t like her, but even so, I don’t want her hanging around you all the time.”
“Second, now that you’re in university, I’ll see you less often. I miss you a lot at the company, so I’ve been thinking about ways to spend some time with you temporarily.”
Jiang Jingshi smiled:
“Then it hit me—I used my own money to donate a little to this school. Plus, my dad is already one of the school’s board members. Ever since our family started making money, my parents have been keen on investing in education and giving back to society. So, I became a counselor.”
“Board member?” Lin Zheng Ran finally understood. “I see.”
She added:
“But this counselor role is temporary, not in the official records. So, I might stick with it for a month or two, or maybe half a year.
It depends on my mood. Anyway, once Qian Qian loses interest in you, I’ll head back to the company.” She blushed and said apologetically: “Is that a bit selfish?”
Lin Zheng Ran thought to himself that rich girls really do things differently.
It sounded so carefree.
Lin Zheng Ran smiled: “Not selfish at all. If you’re interested in teaching, go for it. But what about the company?”
“Oh, don’t worry about that. Things are stable there lately. Minor issues handle themselves, and for bigger ones, Pan Lin will send them to me and you. I can deal with them after work or on weekends.”
“Truth is, ever since you signed that contract with me, my work efficiency has skyrocketed, leaving me with tons of free time. It’s amazing—I still don’t know how you pulled that off.”
Lin Zheng Ran nodded: “Got it. So, for a good while, Jingshi, you’ll really be my counselor.”
Jiang Jingshi hummed in agreement, then coughed lightly into her hand to sound serious:
“That’s right. From now on, you’re my student. When you see me, say hello to your teacher and call me Teacher Jiang. Don’t cause any trouble, and in return, I’ll help you out with yours.”
“No problem, Teacher,” he replied straightforwardly.
Jiang Jingshi said softly: “I was just kidding around. Don’t take it too seriously. The counselor thing is only temporary. Being your girlfriend comes first—I’ll always be your woman.”
Seeing no one around, she stepped closer, and Lin Zheng Ran understood, wrapping his arms around Jiang Jingshi.
He held her waist, her scent drifting into his nose.
Jiang Jingshi nestled her blushing face against his chest: “It’s the same as always, but now that I’m a teacher, it feels a bit odd being held by you.”
“Especially with cameras everywhere. I’m a student now, so sneaking around like this is different from being open about it.”
Jiang Jingshi looked up with a smile and gently kissed Lin Zheng Ran’s lips.
After a light touch, she rose on her high heels, and their lips met again in a slow kiss.
Once they pulled apart, she pulled a card from her pocket and handed it to Lin Zheng Ran.
“This has my current address. I live near the school. If you want to come over after classes or on weekends, just let me know. Your teacher will be waiting.”
“Okay.” He took the card, glanced at the address, memorized it, and handed it back. “I’ve got it.”
Jiang Jingshi said approvingly: “Your memory is still as sharp as ever.”
She leaned in for another kiss, but suddenly, the sound of high heels echoed from a distance.
Startled, Jiang Jingshi and Lin Zheng Ran quickly stepped apart.
A young teacher with a ponytail walked over. She seemed to be another counselor.
Seeing the two of them talking,
Jiang Jingshi straightened up and said seriously: “Alright, Lin Zheng Ran, remember what your teacher told you?”
Lin Zheng Ran responded: “Yes, Teacher, I’ve got it.”
“Good. Head back to class and try the school’s cafeteria food at lunch.”
“Will do, Teacher. See you later.”
Before leaving, Lin Zheng Ran nodded to the ponytail teacher and returned to the classroom.
Watching Lin Zheng Ran go, Jiang Jingshi had a curious look in her eyes. It seemed like he had something to say earlier.
Probably about those three girls, right?
If no one had interrupted, he would’ve told her about his relationship with them.
The ponytail teacher approached: “Teacher Jiang, was that our top student from this year? Lin Zheng Ran?”
Jiang Jingshi replied: “Yes, that’s him. His demeanor and speech set him apart from the other students.”
The ponytail teacher nodded, gazing after Lin Zheng Ran: “You’re right. He doesn’t seem like a typical peer. With grades like his, it’s surprising he chose our school. Teacher Jiang, it’s almost lunchtime—want to grab a meal together?”
“Sure, let’s go.”
The two teachers walked off down the hallway together.
Back in the large classroom, Lin Zheng Ran hadn’t even sat down when he noticed Heqing, Han Wenwen, and Lily staring at him with suspicious eyes.
Lin Zheng Ran sighed: “What’s up with you three now?”
Lily crossed her arms, looking like she was catching him red-handed: “What did the teacher talk to you about?”
“Nothing much.”
The little fox, Han Wenwen, said in a jealous, sarcastic tone: “Brother Zheng Ran~”
He sat down with a sigh: “Alright, I get what you three are thinking. After all, Lily and Heqing have met Jingshi a few times before.”
In the cafeteria at noon, the four of them sat at a table after getting their food.
Lin Zheng Ran gave them a quick rundown: “Her dad is on the board, and the company isn’t busy right now, so she’s trying out being a teacher for a bit. That’s it.”
Lily eyed him skeptically: “Trying out teaching? That’s just an excuse. She’s really here for her boyfriend.”
He nodded: “Obviously.”
Lily puffed her cheeks, still jealous: “Hmph!”
Heqing exclaimed: “Money really makes anything possible. You can just become a counselor on a whim.”
Han Wenwen opened a pair of disposable chopsticks for Lin Zheng Ran:
“Heqing, being a board member is a big deal. That means the Jiang Group has poured a lot of money into this school.
And a temporary counselor isn’t a formal position, so it makes sense. If I were that rich, I’d find ways to stick with Brother Zheng Ran every day.” She handed him the chopsticks, her fox-like eyes full of jealousy.
Lin Zheng Ran patted the little fox’s head.
Heqing blushed: “So, does that mean Teacher Jiang is one of us now? Like, we’re all in this together?”
The other two suddenly fell silent.
Lily blushed and looked at Heqing: “Heqing, you sure have a way with words. Next time, don’t be so blunt—it’s embarrassing!”
