Chapter Index

    Military training was almost over.

That evening, during rest time, Lin Zheng Ran headed back to the dormitory as usual, parting from the Three Little Ones.

In the future, he’d definitely move out with those three little guys, so he wasn’t sure how many more days he’d spend in the boys’ dormitory.

Lately, he could start looking into finding a place to live, and there were Wen Wen’s live streaming competition and Lily’s music contest, both happening later this year.

Lin Zheng Ran pushed open the dormitory door, thinking his roommates wouldn’t bother with him—after all, during military training, he’d become public enemy number one among the guys.

But to his surprise, the once spacious four-person dorm was now crammed full of people.

Glancing around, he saw at least twenty or thirty guys packed in, all chattering away.

    “When’s he getting here?”

“No idea, but he should be soon.”

    “Yeah, probably on his way.”

When they spotted Lin Zheng Ran walking in, he blinked in confusion. “So many people?”

    Their eyes widened in shock.

Suddenly, everyone lined up neatly in the dorm and bowed in unison:

“Father! Teach us how to win over beautiful girlfriends and make the girls we like fall for us! Please, Father! We’ll buy your meals, fetch your water for the next few years—you won’t have to lift a finger. Just show us the way, Father!!!”

    They all bowed deeply: “Father!!”

Their voices boomed in perfect harmony, strong and full of energy!

Once Lin Zheng Ran caught on, he marveled at how only top students truly understand that the most abstract things in the world often come from fellow scholars.

University was nothing like high school.

In high school, everyone was buried in studies, and they really ignored him because they had no time, but in university… extremes had flipped.

So, a few minutes later, Lin Zheng Ran sat on his bed.

Two guys on either side massaged his back with grins. “Comfortable, Father? How’s the pressure?”

Another brought over a basin of foot-washing water. “Father, test the temperature. I’ll add some rose petals later.”

Someone else held up a stack of instant noodles, smiling wide. “Father, what flavor for your midnight snack? I recommend the shrimp and fish cake one—it’s my favorite.”

Sweat beaded on Lin Zheng Ran’s forehead, and instantly, someone wiped it away with a towel, yelling in panic, “Quick, turn on the AC! Father’s sweating!”

A group scrambled for the remote. “I’ll do it! Let me!”

One guy even climbed up to the AC unit to adjust it manually. “Back off, I’ll handle the temperature!”

Lin Zheng Ran paused. “Look, what are you all really after? What do you want to ask me?”

They all gasped and crowded around, faces full of devotion, like meeting a living saint.

“Father, we just want to know how you managed to attract all the campus beauties in our freshman class. We’ve spent years just being good at studies, with no other advantages, and we’ve never even had a girlfriend from childhood.”

One guy was crying, wiping tears:

“Forget girlfriends—I accidentally touched a girl’s black, silky hair when I was fifteen, and I didn’t wash my hands for a week! It was so soft, with a faint shampoo scent. I still dream about it.”

“Me too! In high school, a girl bumped into my arms during a scuffle, and for that whole month, I felt like I was floating. My studying even doubled in speed.”

“Same here! I’ve never had a girl like me growing up. They call me a bookworm, always buried in books, but it’s not true!

I was just too shy to talk to them, so I acted like a top student to hide how awkward I am. That’s how I ended up here. Boo-hoo.”

Another bespectacled scholar pulled out a cherished talisman from his pocket and said seriously:

“This has the sugarcane bits chewed by a girl I once liked. I’ve kept it as my lucky charm all these years—it’s helped me ace every exam. Even though she has a boyfriend now,

I know my feelings weren’t just for her; it’s for that invisible youth, that ideal first love. I want a real girlfriend too!”

    Everyone shared their heartbreaking stories.

One said to Lin Zheng Ran, “So, Father, during military training, we saw how girls flock to you every day, bringing water, snacks, even getting jealous for you. What a life to envy!”

Another clutched his chest. “Seeing that shocked us to our core! We’ve never even imagined such things.

If a girl did that for us in real life, like bringing water with her lipstick on it, I’d eat braised beef instant noodles for a month straight and give up my favorite shrimp and fish cake flavor without a second thought!”

“Father, we’re begging you—teach us a few tricks, even just one or two. From now on, we’ll support everything you do in this school! You’re our idol, our god!”

They all raised their hands, gazing at Lin Zheng Ran. “Lin Zheng Ran, our god! May you guide us!”

Lin Zheng Ran cleared his throat. “This feels like some cult ritual. I mean, no one even talked to me during training.”

    Everyone fell silent.

    Then they quickly defended themselves:

“That’s because we were so jealous of you back then that it clouded our minds. But after cooling down, we realized the only way to find light is to follow your path!

As the saying goes, follow the good and change the bad!

We’ve come to our senses. Facing the ultimate scholar and romance king like you, our god, we should draw close, not ignore you! We’re sorry for the past few days; we regret it! We feel guilty!”

Lin Zheng Ran waved his hand. “Alright, alright, I get it. Hold on, let me soak my feet first and think about what to say.”

A guy checked the water temperature with his hand and shouted in alarm, “It’s dropped two degrees! Heat it up quick—Father’s sacred feet deserve the perfect warmth!”

Lin Zheng Ran chuckled, and that night, he pondered briefly. Since they were so sincere, he shared a few simple tips with them.

Truth be told, when it comes to dating, nothing else matters—it’s all about one thing: courage.

With courage, anyone can find love.

Even though Lin Zheng Ran didn’t say much, they all scribbled notes in their little notebooks, utterly amazed.

Before bed, as they left, they bowed to Lin Zheng Ran one by one, in perfect sync: “Oh great one, may you have sweet dreams tonight. Lin Gate~”

    Lin Zheng Ran: “.”

    What a bunch of oddballs.
