Chapter 361: Campus Whispers and Secrets
by xennovelOne week after implementing the lottery system.
This morning, in the counselor’s office at Qingbei University.
Jiang Jingshi, wearing high heels and half-rimmed glasses with a knee-length skirt, sat at her desk. With nothing pressing in the morning, she picked up a small mirror from the table and carefully examined her mental state.
Her slender, pale fingers traced her skin. Yesterday, the lottery had landed on her again, and she and Zheng had spent half the afternoon together in that way.
Waking up today, she felt full of energy, her skin smooth and flawless, her whole body light and refreshed.
“It’s just incredible… better than any high-end cosmetics,” she murmured with a slight smile. “Even my teeth look whiter.”
She muttered to herself, and the female teacher next to her looked on with envy:
“Jiang, I’ve always wondered—what cosmetics do you use? Your skin is always so perfect.”
Jiang Jingshi brushed it off. “Oh, nothing special. I’ve just been making sure to get to bed early lately, so I look a bit better.”
“Is that it? Does early sleep really work that well?” the female teacher asked curiously.
Jiang Jingshi thought to herself, of course not.
But it wasn’t just her skin. Ever since Han Wenwen and Lily told everyone about what happened with Zheng last week,
she’d noticed improvements in skin texture, mental state, fatigue from the previous day, even dandruff, foot pain from wearing high heels for long periods, and issues like poor digestion, lack of appetite, and insomnia—all of it vanished quickly after that.
Everything improved right away!
Honestly, after discussing it with her three friends, they were all stunned. They had no idea why it was so miraculous.
Han Wenwen even came up with a theory:
“Do you think Zheng might be like that ‘Pure Yang Body’ from novels? You know, the kind where girls get benefits just by being close. Otherwise, how else do you explain it? It’s like he’s some ultimate tonic.”
Everyone agreed it probably had nothing to do with his medical skills. There are plenty of guys who know medicine—does that mean they’re all like this? Never heard of such a thing. Even if Lin Zheng Ran is skilled, he couldn’t be that amazing.
Han Wenwen’s idea actually made more sense.
Why else would there be talk of a ‘Pure Yang Body’? Whatever the real reason, the facts were clear.
Zheng was truly one-of-a-kind for girls.
Thinking about it, Jiang Jingshi started to miss him.
She glanced at her phone—Zheng should still be in class. Maybe she’d go see him.
Grabbing some files, she stood up and told the female teacher nearby, “I’m going to check on my students.”
The female teacher nodded.
Jiang Jingshi adjusted her half-rimmed glasses and quickened her steps in her high heels toward the large classroom where Lin Zheng Ran was attending class.
As she approached, she slowed down and peeked through the window to watch him.
Lin Zheng Ran wasn’t paying attention to the lecture; as usual, he was reading some book no one else could understand.
Suddenly, his phone in his pocket rang, startling Jiang Jingshi. She looked up and saw that Zheng had noticed her. They shared a warm, awkward glance, and he smiled at her.
Lin Zheng Ran smiled back in the classroom.
She answered her phone, her tone turning serious: “Hello? What is it, Pan Lin?”
Pan Lin said, “Boss Jiang, sorry to bother you, but I noticed on the private list you sent me for this month, you removed all the cosmetics and skincare items. You only added lipstick and eyeshadow… Did you mean to?”
Jiang Jingshi smiled and replied, “No mistake. Just skip the skincare expenses from now on. Only get what I specified.”
“Oh, okay… But Boss Jiang, you haven’t had a fight with Mr. Lin, have you?” Pan Lin worried, thinking that giving up on skincare felt like Jiang was neglecting herself.
Jiang Jingshi shot back, “What are you thinking? Zheng and I never fight. Just do as I say. I’m feeling great lately, so I don’t need those products anymore.”
“Alright, that’s a relief. Got it.”
After the call, she lingered a bit longer watching Lin Zheng Ran, looking like a counselor checking on discipline.
But to someone in the classroom—his own sister—it seemed almost obsessive.
Jiang Qian kept her cool face as she listened to the teacher, then casually glanced outside.
She wondered why her sister kept showing up. Even if Lin Zheng Ran was her boyfriend, did she need to check on him so often?
Jiang Qian let out a cold huff of annoyance.
Sitting next to her, Fang Meng spotted the eldest miss in the hallway and smiled.
But soon, Jiang Jingshi left the hallway. She enjoyed watching, but not too long—or she’d get noticed.
Fang Meng then whispered to Jiang Qian, “Qian Qian, I’ve almost finished investigating everyone except Han Wenwen. She’s not really open to talking, so it might take a little more time.”
Jiang Qian just hummed in response.
“No rush, take your time.”
Fang Meng noticed a hint of joy in Jiang Qian’s usually cold expression and asked, “Qian Qian, you seem in a good mood today?”
Jiang Qian pressed her lips together, thinking of last week’s surprise, her cheeks flushing slightly. “I’m fine. Just figure out how to talk to Han Wenwen, then report back once you’re done.”
“Don’t worry, Qian Qian, I’ll hurry it up.”
During the morning class break, the three little ones sitting with Lin Zheng Ran—Han Wenwen linked arms with Heqing and asked with a grin, “Hey, Xiao Qingqing and Lily, want to head to the restroom together?”
Heqing agreed, “Sure.”
Lily stood up, “Let’s go.” The three told Lin Zheng Ran, “We’ll be right back,” and left the classroom together.
Lin Zheng Ran kept flipping through his book.
Not far away, Jiang Qian bent over her notes. After the three left, she slowly looked toward them.
Looks like after I stayed away from Lin Zheng Ran for so long, they’ve dropped their guard around me. Their vigilance is way down.
And with last week’s fluke, it seems luck is on my side…
She rose gracefully, her long hair swaying, and walked elegantly through the large classroom to stand in front of Lin Zheng Ran.
“Lin Zheng Ran.”
Lin Zheng Ran looked up. “Jiang Qian?”
Jiang Qian kept her composed expression, though her slightly curled fingers betrayed her nerves.
“What you said last week still holds, right?”
Lin Zheng Ran smiled. “Of course. I owe you a favor.”
Hearing that, Jiang Qian relaxed, her cool demeanor softening a bit. “I said it’s not a debt—just a meal together. When are you free this week? I’ll prepare.”
“Hmm, how about tonight? I don’t have anything on.”
“Tonight? Great! I’ll pick the place. See you then—no backing out.”
“No backing out.”
They exchanged smiles.
“I’m off.” Jiang Qian turned sharply and left, her eyes sparkling with excitement and shyness.
“What should I wear for my date with Lin Zheng Ran tonight?”
