Chapter Index

While handling affairs in the Imperial City, you encounter difficulties with the Demonic Cult Enchantress’s adoptive relative, and with a casual move, you resolve the trouble and uncover the corruption within the Imperial City, cleaning it up.

From these events, your Spiritual Energy level increases by two.

Your Spiritual Energy Control level improves, rising from level two to level three.

At level three, Spiritual Energy Control isn’t just about simply picking up objects; it can now repel them for attacks, and the range and speed of control are greater.

    Your current attributes are

Spiritual Energy level eighty-three [Divine Transformation Stage]

Spiritual Power Control: Level three [Enhanced control with repulsion ability, allowing you to walk on water across rivers]

Spirit Gathering Body: Level one [Lifespan limit breaks two hundred years, injuries heal slowly over time; fatal wounds reduce to severe, severe to minor, but can’t reduce consecutively; physical strength doubles]

Heaven-Earth Resonance: Level two [Items you create are at least epic quality, side effects removed, crafting time eliminated, materials halved]

All Things Affinity: Level three [Your affinity with all attributes reaches a great figure’s level, no longer confined to genius ranks]

On the way back to the company, Lin Zheng Ran heard the system’s voice emerge.

He had leveled up twice unexpectedly, and gained new abilities.

Though in this world he rarely needed abilities, gaining them sparked his curiosity—he had to test them out.

He said to Jiang Jingshi, “Jingshi, you go back and get busy; I have something to handle and need to step out for a bit.”

Jiang Jingshi asked curiously, “Step out? Where to? Do you need help?”

“No need, I’ll be back soon. When Wen Wen returns, have her make some tea in the office for me. I also want to ask how her secretary training is going today.”

Jiang Jingshi agreed somewhat puzzled, and Lin Zheng Ran turned and left, with no one knowing where he was headed or what he was up to.

After he had walked far away, Jiang Jingshi pondered in her heart: Zheng seemed to do this occasionally since she had known him—though not often, he would sometimes slip away to a place alone to think quietly, not wanting anyone to disturb him.

She wondered what he was doing; Jiang Jingshi figured everyone in the world had their little habits—she cooked, and maybe Zheng’s habit was just to be alone sometimes.

It made sense; as the head of the household, he dealt with so much every day, and even if Zheng could handle everything, he must still feel pressure. She needed to pay more attention to him.

    Help him relieve that stress.

Thinking of this, Jiang Jingshi unconsciously pursed her red lips, the sensation still fresh.

    Her eyes softened.

This week was almost over; next week’s draw would start anew.

When her turn came, she’d serve Zheng more often, letting him release his stress on her.

After venting, he could sleep well.

Jiang Jingshi turned to Pan Lin: “Pan Lin, Mr. Lin has reviewed some files this morning; the rest aren’t many, so move them to my office. Let Mr. Lin rest this afternoon.”

    Pan Lin nodded.

“Okay, I’ll handle that right away.”

The two returned to the office, while Lin Zheng Ran headed alone to an unused warehouse at Zheng Shi Company.

Lin Zheng Ran knew every part of Zheng Shi Company inside out.

This unused warehouse was one he had specifically arranged before; it was spacious and normally empty, serving as a backup to outsiders.

In reality, he stored various odds and ends there, big and small, just to experiment with skill upgrades on the spot.

So Lin Zheng Ran entered the warehouse and locked the door.

    He flipped on the lights.

The warehouse was cluttered with tables, sofas, chairs, filing cabinets, cups, and other items all lined up against the walls.

“Level three Spiritual Energy Control strengthens speed, range, and intensity, plus it adds a repulsion ability?”

He glanced at a cup on the floor; before, his Spiritual Energy Control could easily manipulate such small items to any position.

But they didn’t fly into his hand that quickly.

Now, as Lin Zheng Ran reached out and drove his Spiritual Power, the cup shot straight into his palm, and he gripped it firmly.

Its flight speed was over four or five times faster than before.

    “That fast?”

Lin Zheng Ran set the cup aside and grabbed a solid wooden sofa, weighing at least several dozen pounds.

Previously, his Spiritual Energy Control couldn’t handle something so large and heavy, but now as he extended his hand and channeled Spiritual Energy,

that several-dozen-pound sofa began to sway and slowly lift into the air.

Following his thoughts, it changed positions effortlessly in mid-air.

“It’s stronger for sure, but what’s the limit?”

Lin Zheng Ran didn’t lower the sofa; instead, he manipulated other items one after another, sending objects in the warehouse flying up around him.

Until about eighty percent of the items were airborne, he felt that was his limit.

    Roughly around one ton.

“Not bad, way stronger than before—at least in speed and strength. Now for range…”

Lin Zheng Ran opened the warehouse door and focused on an item two hundred meters away, making it float without being seen.

He tried three hundred meters, four hundred, and finally pinned the limit at five hundred meters.

That’s a quarter more than the length of the entire playground.

He was quite satisfied with the range.

Back in the warehouse, he tested the new repulsion ability.

Lin Zheng Ran picked up the cup out of thin air and clenched his fist slightly.

Immediately, the cup seemed to feel pressure from all sides—an invisible force crushed it, deforming and shattering it.

In the end, it compressed into a round glass ball.

With a casual flick, Lin Zheng Ran repelled the glass ball; it sped toward the warehouse wall and smashed into pieces, scattering everywhere.

    He felt surprised.

Then he turned to the sofa in the warehouse; with a sharp creak, the wood groaned under pressure as the several-dozen-pound sofa compacted toward the center.

It turned into a mangled mess of wood, breaking at the core.

Ten minutes later, Lin Zheng Ran left the warehouse, now clear on the repulsion ability’s specifics.

He found a warehouse staff member, who spotted Lin Zheng Ran and greeted him immediately: “Mr. Lin!”

Lin Zheng Ran smiled: “Hello, I had someone smash all the items in the rightmost warehouse. Get people to clear it out and throw them away, then put some new miscellaneous items in and lock the door.”

The staff member nodded without a second thought: “Sure, Mr. Lin, I’ll get on that right away.”

Lin Zheng Ran turned and left.

When the employee entered the warehouse, he couldn’t help but widen his eyes: “What on earth smashed all this? How did all the miscellaneous items in here turn into junk?”

He picked up a piece of wood fragment; such pieces littered the floor, and nothing in the warehouse was left intact.
