Chapter Index

    Xu Zhiquan: “What’s this?”

Xu Chen: “Tomorrow when you meet Fang Jun, it’s essentially a two-way interview. He’ll be judging whether our company is worth joining, too.”

    “These sheets have two parts.”

“The first part lists questions you can ask during the interview.”

“Sometimes how professional the boss’s questions sound also shapes the candidate’s view of the company.”

    Xu Zhiquan chuckled:

“Perfect! I was just worrying—I had no clue how to interview a college grad!”

Xu Chen: “I’ve drafted questions focused on finance and accounting. They test both skills and thinking.”

“Dad, if you don’t know what to ask, just stick to these.”

“Ask them and they’ll think you really know your stuff.”

“As for their answers—if you can’t follow the technical details, focus on their thought process and logic.”

“See if they get stuck, get nervous, or can’t answer.”

    Xu Zhiquan nodded:

“My son really is the specialist! I honestly don’t get any of this!”

    Xu Chen continued:

“The second part has scripts I prepared to showcase our strengths and vision—basically painting a big picture.”

“You can casually mention these during the conversation to help them understand our company and build confidence in our future.”

“The goal is to avoid sounding like a small-town nursery. We want them to see potential.”

Xu Zhiquan flipped through the pages, visibly moved.

He suddenly laughed, picked up the teapot on the table, and poured a full cup for Xu Chen:

“Mr. Xu, you really are my lifesaver!”

“Don’t worry, son. I’ll stick to the script!”

    Wednesday at noon.

After class, Xu Chen headed straight out of school.

Li Rui was already waiting at the gate.

Seeing Xu Chen, he called, “Chen,” and handed over a McDonald’s order.

8th floor, Jin Feng Commercial Building.

As soon as Xu Chen stepped out of the elevator lobby, he saw rows of tall congratulatory flower stands.

【East Morning Star Co. Relocation—May Wealth Flow In…】

    【Chenxin Nurseries Prosperity—Thriving Business…】

【Congratulations: East Morning Star Co. & Chenxin Nurseries Relocate…】

Xu Chen looked closely and realized those were gifts from others.

They were probably from friends and partners of his father, Xu Zhiquan.

One big yellow stand was from Boss Huang Furen…

As the glass door slid open, Xu Zhiquan emerged grinning.

He hooked his arm around Xu Chen’s and led him inside:

    “Come take a look!”

A receptionist stood by the entrance while several new metal signs hung on the feature wall.

    【East Morning Star Co.】 【Chenxin Nurseries】【Chenfeng Technology】【East Morning Star Advertising】…

    Xu Chen smiled:

“Dad, you even put up ‘Chenfeng Technology’ and ‘East Morning Star Advertising’!”

    Xu Zhiquan laughed:

“I took your advice—can’t let people think we’re just seed growers.”

“I had those signs made overnight!”

    Xu Chen half-joked:

“I have to admit, those signs really give a big-company vibe!”

Xu Zhiquan laughed heartily, tugging his son deeper inside.

“Take a look. It’s not huge but bright and open.”

“I checked the feng shui—it’s excellent.”

“The interior was arranged for prosperity.”

This office on the eighth floor was about 120 square meters.

A reception room, work area, meeting room, lounge…

    Small but fully equipped.

For now, the reception room will see the most use since there won’t be many employees.

    Its layout was clearly meticulous.

Sofas, tables, chairs, display shelves, tea set, tea leaves, potted plants…

Understated yet fitting for important visitors—nothing feels out of place.

Obviously Xu Zhiquan studied every detail.

He often visited clients, built relationships, and knew what leaders and partners would like…

“It’s empty now and close to your school. You can use it anytime.”

“The general manager’s office is quiet—good for studying.”

“There’s also a lounge with a bed and sofa. If you don’t like the dorm, feel free to sleep here!”

Xu Zhiquan explained to his son, clearly delighted.

Though the new office was empty, it sparked many hopes for the company’s future…

Soon Li Rui knocked on the glass door.

“President Xu, Chen, Fang Jun…is here.”

At that, father and son turned.

    Both froze for a moment.

A petite, upright figure stood behind Li Rui.

    It was Fang Jun.

    Father and son were surprised.

    It wasn’t ‘him’ but ‘her.’

    They hadn’t expected a woman…

The name ‘Fang Jun’ sounded so masculine.

    Xu Zhiquan chuckled self-deprecatingly.

When he spoke with Director Yang from the Mechanical Factory, he’d asked many questions about Fang Jun—but never about gender…

    Xu Chen glanced up.

This 25-year-old finance professional wore a high ponytail—befitting the ‘Jun’ in her name.

    Her outfit was plain.

A white polo shirt and camel khaki pants.

Simple and gender-neutral—no flashy colors or decorations.

Single eyelids, high nose bridge, small face, no makeup.

Not overly glamorous, but her features were clean with a scholarly air.

Her gaze was calm and composed—no nervousness or flattery.

Hearing she came from a good family and once exposed flaws at the Mechanical Factory…

It actually matched her image perfectly.

Behind the ‘simple’ exterior was ‘confident pride,’ just like that high ponytail.

Staring people up and down is impolite, so they quickly looked away.

Xu Zhiquan greeted her with a smile:

“Hello, Ms. Fang. I’m Xu Zhiquan.”

He stayed polite since she was a finance professional.

    “Hello, President Xu.”

Fang Jun responded with steady confidence and shook his hand.

Xu Zhiquan deliberately studied her and laughed:

“I’m sorry—I assumed you were male.”

Fang Jun: “Before I was born, my parents thought I’d be a boy and gave me a masculine name.”

It seems her parents favored sons over daughters.

Xu Zhiquan pointed aside and introduced:

“This is my son, Xu Chen.”

Xu Chen politely: “Hello, Ms. Fang.”

On paper, Fang Jun was seven years older, so calling her ‘Ms.’ made sense.

But in Xu Chen’s mind, this 25-year-old was just a junior—a ‘little girl.’

    Chapter Summary
