Chapter Index

    “So… this is the monster’s ability…”

    “It can control my body?”

“No, it’s invading my mind, fighting for control over my body…”

“If there’s a part of the brain that controls this kind of laughter, then this violin music directly invaded that part, making me laugh while trying to control me further.”

His thoughts raced as Lu Xin experienced a sensation unlike any before.

It felt like another consciousness was brutally forcing its way into his mind trying to expel his own. Paradoxically his own mind grew clearer yet his body felt heavier as if his consciousness was drifting away from his body.

He could even hear himself continuously sneering.

Nearby Gao Ting who had fallen to the ground also wore that same eerie smile. She stumbled slowly to her feet, her body moving like a puppet pulled by unseen strings, completely uncoordinated.

Her gaze caught Lu Xin’s attention—it was sinister, filled with ill intent.

Especially as she started reaching for her gun. From her posture it looked like she was about to raise the gun and aim it at him.

She was under the brain monster’s control…

Lu Xin’s thoughts were unusually clear now easily grasping the situation.

Since she was controlled like the madmen, she would very likely attack him like one too.

    That would be dangerous…

His vision doubled as if his consciousness was being crushed.

But through the blurring images Lu Xin saw Sister scrambling around beside him darting to the front. The two madmen closest to him were suddenly tripped by Sister, falling heavily with their legs twisted like pretzels.

He had already given his Sister his complete trust.

That’s why Sister could act freely against the surrounding madmen, uncontrolled.

Even if his own mind was affected it wouldn’t implicate her.

And knowing her personality if Gao Ting shot at him, Lu Xin wasn’t sure what Sister might do to her…

As he pondered this Lu Xin’s expression suddenly turned strange.

He saw a madman charge at Boss, lunging wildly. But Boss’s movements seemed wooden and slow yet she managed an awkward crouch dodging the attack. Then her actions became smoother. She didn’t raise the gun at him; instead she quickly tossed it aside. Her face still held that eerie smile and her eyes remained fixed on Lu Xin with a sinister glint.

But she did something else entirely.

She forcefully righted the motorcycle swung back onto it, and then violently twisted the throttle roaring away.

It seemed she had already scouted the area. After speeding several dozen meters reaching maximum velocity she yanked the handlebars. The bike leaped onto a wrecked car lying diagonally between her and the monster. The engine’s momentum allowed her to use the wrecked car as a ramp, launching her into the air like a cannonball aimed at the monster hanging above the street.

Although it only looked like she was heading for the monster the distance was still quite far.

The motorcycle quickly reached its apex and began to fall.

At that moment Boss stood up straight on the motorcycle letting go of the handlebars.

Using the airborne motorcycle as a foothold she leaped again.

This propelled her like a soaring bird directly towards the brain.

“How did she break free from the control before me?”

“No wait she didn’t break free…”

Lu Xin’s thoughts raced and he instantly grasped the answer.

This was the crucial proof he’d been observing and searching for—this woman was indeed polluted.

Her body showed clear abnormalities; her mind and body weren’t synchronized.

They even seemed to be fighting each other.

It was precisely because of this discord that even when her mind was affected her body continued to execute its prior command.

    “Hmm?”

Just as he understood this Lu Xin’s pupils suddenly contracted slightly.

He saw Boss already soaring towards the monster stretch out mid-air. Her long limbs gave her a graceful yet powerful form. As she neared the monster she tossed her gun yanked the black bag from her back to her front plunged both hands inside and pulled them out each gripping a…

    …small green apple!

Lu Xin suddenly knew what this woman intended to do.

    “Huu…”

Realizing Boss’s objective Lu Xin’s mind suddenly cleared.

With this returning clarity Lu Xin felt his consciousness snap back into his body.

All the surrounding sounds suddenly became sharp and clear.

It wasn’t just the violin anymore—the heart-wrenching music blaring from the speaker on Boss’s motorcycle handlebars, the cold laughter of countless madmen around him their scrambling footsteps as they rapidly closed in—all flooded his ears simultaneously.

Lu Xin took a deep breath then pressed a silver button.

    “Voom…”

Pressing the silver button Lu Xin knew the motorcycle’s speed would increase but he didn’t know by how much. This was his first time using it and he knew it would drastically consume fuel.

    “Whoosh…”

Flames suddenly shot a dozen centimeters from the exhaust pipes. In an instant the motorcycle rocketed forward carrying Lu Xin with it.

The intense wind created a powerful force threatening to push him off the bike. But under this almost uncontrollable power Sister dropped from above wrapping her small arms tightly around Lu Xin.

Lu Xin’s body moved like a flexible yet incredibly precise machine. His hands controlled the motorcycle with ease and precision shooting forward over ten meters in an instant rushing towards the building diagonally across from them looking like he was about to crash head-on.

Then Lu Xin yanked the handlebars and the motorcycle drove straight up the wall.

A silver motorcycle defying the laws of physics charged up the wall reaching a height of over ten meters in one go.

Then Lu Xin released the handlebars letting the motorcycle crash into the abandoned building across the way while he pushed off the seat launching himself backward towards Boss Gao Ting who was hurtling towards the suspended brain.

At this moment Gao Ting was only two or three meters away from the brain-like monster.

In each hand she held a small apple; she had already pulled the pins.

Her face still wore that eerie grim smile.

Only deep within her eyes could you glimpse her own weary relief.

It was as if she had long been waiting for this moment…

    “Sigh…”

Lu Xin sighed extending his hands.

He grabbed both her hands. Her fingers clenched tightly around the two little apples instantly twisted with faint cracking sounds completely disobeying her will. The two armed little apples naturally fell from her grasp.

Lu Xin flipped in mid-air performing an inverted kick to send the two little apples flying back towards the brain-like monster.

At the same time using the momentum from his leap he collided directly with Boss Gao Ting.

    Thump.

Lu Xin landed steadily from the height while Boss Gao Ting was knocked rolling away clearly taking a hard fall.

    Boom! Boom!

Immediately following were two massive explosions and a stunning heatwave spreading in all directions.

The two little apples he’d kicked towards the brain monster exploded with astonishing flames and force. At close range this power seemed capable of tearing everything apart. Even the distorted air around the brain monster’s surface rippled violently from the blast wave its soft leathery layer quivered like jelly even oozing red blood.

Although the bombs didn’t hit it directly they seemed to have dealt a significant blow.

Meanwhile a considerable amount of flame impact force and scattered shrapnel rushed towards Lu Xin whose back was turned.

    “Tshh” “Tshh” “Tshh”

But as the force and shrapnel flew near Lu Xin the air similarly distorted.

The impact force suddenly vanished into nothingness as if assimilated by some kind of force field while the shrapnel fragments became embedded in mid-air.

    “What’s so bad about living?”

Lu Xin glanced down at the fallen Boss Gao Ting shaking his head slightly.

    Then he slowly turned around.

He saw Mom standing right in front of him. She carried a delicate little satchel wore a black formal dress and on her feet were red high heels—something he rarely saw her wear.

Her back was to Lu Xin her slender beautiful hands pressed gently forward.

Centered on her palms the air distorted in layers trembling and expanding outwards.

This layer of distorted air blocked the impact force and the incoming shrapnel.

    “Grrr…”

A grinding sound came from beside Lu Xin—it was Sister clenching her teeth tightly staring ahead with intense alertness.

It was rare to see such an expression on her face.

To Lu Xin’s right the skinless dog had been watching leisurely.

Suddenly noticing the attitude of Lu Xin’s family it also put on a ferocious teeth-baring expression…

…without skin baring its teeth or not looked pretty much the same.

“So even you were affected by it? For about…”

    “Five seconds?”

Mom’s gentle voice sounded beside him. She turned around looking at Lu Xin with a slight question in her eyes.”
