Chapter Index

    Swish!

The moment Chen Jing’s face morphed into Gecko’s likeness Lu Xin shot to his feet.

When the Gecko-like Chen Jing suddenly raised a handgun from beside her and fired at him Lu Xin’s head snapped sideways as if his neck had broken barely dodging the bullet. Simultaneously his hand shot forward.

He grabbed Chen Jing’s shoulder forcing her towards the ground while his eyes darted around scanning her.

He needed to memorize her features in the shortest time possible.

But he hadn’t expected that when his hand pressed down on Chen Jing’s shoulder it collapsed as if boneless. At the same time she pushed off the ground with one hand flipping into the air and kicking towards Lu Xin in an inverted position.

Perfectly utilizing one’s body could unleash terrifying power.

Chen Jing demonstrated this perfectly. She instantly broke free from Lu Xin’s grasp her kick whipping up a gust of wind.

This instantaneous reaction and counterattack channeling her full body strength was characteristic of the Spider-type.

Chen Jing wasn’t a Spider-type so how were her skills this good?

Or was the Gecko before him not actually Chen Jing at all?

As thoughts raced through his mind Lu Xin swiftly retreated dodging Chen Jing’s attack.

But at the same time he heard the whistle of a blade cutting through air. His left shoulder and ribs suddenly retracted inward dodging a slash from behind. Then his hand moved with incredible speed grabbing towards the attacker’s neck from an impossible angle.

    “No…”

Just before grabbing the person’s neck his hand abruptly pulled back.

At that moment at least three ‘Geckos’ were attacking him some shooting some using knives. In the chaos he could no longer tell which one was the real Gecko nor could he be sure if in Gecko’s eyes he still looked like himself explaining the knife attack.

He couldn’t just kill randomly now.

    Swish swish swish!

With several bizarre twists of his body he evaded three bullets and a dagger thrust.

Amidst the chaos he glanced over and saw two Gecko-like figures fighting near the ornamental rock.

They were firing guns at nearly point-blank range almost face to face.

Muzzles flashed near cheeks and vital points flames spitting out. Bullets whizzed past faces like common stones. It looked tense and thrilling; either could be killed by a bullet at any second yet they still pushed their attacks relentlessly.

This unique style of Spider-type combat had a heart-stopping beauty.

But because of this Lu Xin couldn’t tell which Gecko was Chen Jing.

The entire courtyard had descended into chaos. Some fought each other some charged at him while others caught stray bullets meant for someone else. The bizarre charges of countless Geckos filled the courtyard with danger.

Lu Xin quickly made a decision rapidly retreating. His body continuously bent and twisted dodging attacks as he put distance between himself and the battlefield.

He needed time to sort through the chaotic thoughts in his mind…

*”Why has everyone turned into Gecko?”*

*”Why did even Chen Jing who was right beside me suddenly turn into Gecko?”*

*”Is the pollution affecting Gecko Chen Jing or me?”*

Were Chen Jing and Gecko both assimilated by the strange person in the courtyard desperately fighting him? Or was it that in their eyes *he* had changed becoming one of the monsters frantically attacking them?

Simply put in the same courtyard the three of them were now fighting alone.

Watching familiar teammates turn into killing machines of a different form?

Lu Xin’s heart leaped into his throat.

Dodging one attacker and shoving him away he suddenly reached out again grabbing a slender arm.

    It was Sister.

She seemed extremely excited wanting to rush into the chaotic crowd and treat everyone like toys.

But Lu Xin couldn’t let her do that now.

Because those she turned into toys could very well be his teammates.

*”Since you hate each other why not take this chance to kill them?”*

The slender voice echoed for the third time in the alley filled with eyes.

Standing in the alley watched by countless eyes the three members of the Doctor’s team seemed to have their last shred of reason shattered by the voice. They suddenly turned revealing sinister glints in their eyes.

The scalpel in the Doctor’s hand reflecting a faint cold light under the glow of the eyes pressed against the neck of the dazed Patient whose gaze wandered. The wandering-eyed patient drew a gun.

He pointed the gun at the forehead of the patient whose head was completely wrapped.

This wrapped-head patient suddenly shot out a large hand bulging with blue veins clamping down on the Doctor’s neck.

The scalpel neared the carotid artery. A finger hooked around the trigger.

The large veiny hand squeezed the Doctor’s neck causing it to crackle ominously.

    Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Meanwhile in the underground parking area Xia Chong’s team fired unhesitatingly at the monster on the ceiling.

    They were using special bullets.

Each bullet erupted into a burst of blue electric arcs upon impact.

The smell of burnt flesh filled the air. Splattered pieces of flesh rained down sizzling on the ground.

    “Waaah…”

The infant’s cry grew sharper piercing their eardrums.

The huge infant crawled rapidly across the ceiling its limbs hooked inversely dodging the bullets as blue arcs blossomed around it.

The flesh covering the entire ceiling frequently had large chunks blown out by the special bullets. But fueled by its cries the flesh grew and writhed constantly filling the craters covering them restoring itself.

The speed at which they inflicted damage couldn’t even keep up with the speed of the flesh’s growth.

    “Retreat…”

Xia Chong reacted instantly. She suddenly fired but aimed at the wall.

That was where she had opened the door earlier.

Now the door was covered in flesh. She needed to clear it to escape through that door.

    Bang! Bang!

The bullets blasted away the flesh revealing the doorknob.

Xia Chong rushed towards the door calling out in a low voice: “Be careful! Don’t get injured! No wounds allowed…”

But as she gave the loud warning she felt a sharp pain in her fingers as she grabbed the doorknob.

Snatching her hand back she saw that sharp teeth had grown on the hidden underside of the doorknob.

Blood was already oozing from her fingers.

Simultaneously her two teammates cried out in alarm.

While running one was suddenly bitten on the calf by a ‘mouth’ that grew out of the ground.

The other spun around grabbing a tentacle that shot towards her from the darkness. Her reaction was extremely fast catching the tentacle aimed at her eye but she hadn’t expected the sharp barbs on it which tore open her palm.

They looked at each other their hearts sinking. Everyone was injured.

    “Come down!”

In the north side of the City the large man in black tactical gear took a step forward looking at the girl on the rooftop.

His face was like stone his fists clenched radiating only cold hard sharpness.

The girl on the rooftop stood silhouetted against the crescent Red Moon appearing particularly small her features lost in the darkness.

Facing the challenge from below she didn’t speak but suddenly leaped down.

Her figure plummeted rapidly through the mid-air her dining knife held high reflecting an eerie cold glint.

    “Huu…”

The large man didn’t wait for her to land. He took a deep breath.

Then his body shifted and he threw a punch straight up at the girl in the air.

As he threw the punch his eyes turned a ghastly white.

    The air around him twisted.

On the buildings on either side layers of already shattered glass were completely destroyed by this distorting force exploding upwards layer by layer. Shards rained down into the surrounding air creating a spectacular scene.

It was like an invisible tide surging upwards directly towards the girl who had nowhere to dodge in mid-air.

Anyone seeing this large man’s physique would assume he excelled at physical combat.

But in reality his specialty was mental impact.

    “Crash…”

Against his mental impact even a three-centimeter thick steel plate would be warped into a wave-like shape.

But the girl jumping from the building with no leverage suddenly scattered her form.

Limbs head and small body split apart simultaneously.

Extremely fine threads of blood connected the pieces of flesh turning her entire being into something like a net.

The force of the mental impact merely caused some of her blood threads to twist unnaturally before passing harmlessly through her body striking towards the Red Moon in the sky. Meanwhile she had already descended enveloping the three-person team below.

    Swish!

The sharp dining knife reflected a bewitching red glow instantly slashing towards the Clown’s neck.

Faced with this terrifyingly bizarre speed the Clown couldn’t even react.

    “Get back here!”

But in that instant the dining knife suddenly stopped a centimeter from the Clown’s neck then rapidly retreated.

    It was the large Captain.

His arm shot up grabbing the constantly writhing blood threads. A vortex-like void abruptly appeared beside him.

This mental void created a powerful pulling force. Combined with him gripping the blood threads and yanking backward he actually managed to forcibly pull back the little girl who had already lunged at his teammate. Then his massive fist smashed towards her face.

    “Crack…”

The little girl’s head snapped around in mid-air a vacant light flashing in her eyes.
