Chapter 350: Unconventional Methods
by xennovel“Ah…”
Gecko’s mouth hung wide open his expression frozen.
It wasn’t just him; Chen Jing behind him was clearly stunned too.
The Ability Users from Central City stared wide-eyed at Lu Xin who stood atop the monster’s head feeling their worldview shatter.
Basically everyone’s thoughts fell into one of these three categories:
It actually worked?
You can do that?
He’s standing on that thing’s head!
…
In the momentary silence Gecko felt antsy like he didn’t know what to do with his hands before shouting desperately: “Be careful!”
“Whoosh…”
The monster reacted or rather Zhao Shiming reacted.
After all the way this person appeared how he landed directly on the monster yet remained unaffected by the Mental Force Field was far beyond Zhao Shiming’s expectations. It stunned him for a full two seconds before he realized what was happening.
“Get off!”
An exceptionally manic expression instantly appeared on his face his ten fingers flying.
Following his movements the Distorted Force Field around the monster instantly intensified. Its thick Claws and the octopus-like Tentacles dancing around it shot upwards simultaneously weaving together with ferocious barbs grabbing at the person on its head.
…
“Hm?”
Lu Xin had just been looking for where the ‘God’ was.
It wasn’t until the Tentacles were about to pierce him that he realized the ‘God’ he’d been searching for was right beneath his feet.
This startled him making him slightly flustered.
Fortunately Sister had been clinging to his back the whole time. Her figure instantly flickered and twisted dodging the monster’s Claws and Tentacles with movements exceeding normal human limits before somersaulting onto the Ceiling.
“Swish swish swish…”
He rapidly crawled along the Ceiling before dropping down in front of Gecko and the others.
“That was pretty scary…”
Looking at the frenzied monster he lightly wiped his forehead saying with lingering fear.
Behind him was a group of nearly petrified People.
Xia Chong stared blankly at him summoning great effort to ask in a trembling voice: “Aren’t you affected by it?”
“I am…”
Lu Xin glanced back at her saying: “As soon as I see it I get dizzy my vision blurs my ears ring and my mind gets chaotic…”
Xia Chong looked at his calm face her own Cognition starting to skew: “Is that how you look when you’re affected?”
Lu Xin paused for a moment before explaining softly: “I’m just not good at expressing myself…”
“This…”
A sense of absurdity filled Everyone’s minds: “Is this really a matter of being good at expressing things or not?”
Xia Chong pressed her lips together suddenly unsure what to say.
She just turned her head and glared forcefully at Chen Jing.
The Doctor further back had eyes slightly brightened seeming to feel a sense of kinship having found a Patient.
Chen Jing reacted the fastest. As soon as she processed it she instinctively reached out and grabbed Lu Xin’s arm:
“Are… are you confident?”
…
Lu Xin turned to look at Chen Jing noticing that this usually confident and rational Leader was actually showing the panicked expression of an ordinary Little girl. He could clearly feel the Hand gripping his arm trembling slightly.
“It’s alright.”
Lu Xin took Chen Jing’s Hand gently removing it from his arm.
It was dangerous right now; having the Leader grabbing his arm would hinder his performance.
But he knew the Leader needed reassurance so he promised: “I’ll take care of it.”
…
Chen Jing stared at Lu Xin’s smiling Face momentarily lost.
But in the eyes of Everyone else it wasn’t just being lost; question marks practically appeared above their heads.
Something seemed off exceeding their Understanding.
But undoubtedly this ‘off’ feeling was a good thing…
Xia Chong glared hard at Chen Jing again suddenly whispering: “Tell us how we should coordinate with you?”
…
“Creak…”
The grating sound of twisting Metal filled the Air.
Enraged by the failure to grab Lu Xin Zhao Shiming’s Face was now covered in Anger.
The monster he controlled took steps forward like a child learning to walk but it moved increasingly smoothly and quickly. The surrounding Mental Distortion Field expanded and intensified as it moved.
With each step the nearby Tables and chairs and various Metal objects severely deformed.
“Whoosh…”
Suddenly the monster looked up towards the Lab entrance.
An even stronger Mental Impact surged towards the Lab entrance like a tide rushing towards the Crowd.
This deliberate Mental Impact was much stronger than the unconscious emission when the monster first appeared.
At the same time countless thick Tentacles writhed and twisted in the Corridor behind the Crowd like grotesque serpents emerging from a Hole. They rushed chaotically towards Everyone with distorted ferocious movements.
Attacked from both front and back the Pressure felt like a Nightmare engulfing them.
…
Lu Xin frowned. Being interrupted mid-sentence felt very uncomfortable.
He abruptly turned towards the monster and a large Distorted Force Field appeared before him as well.
When the Mental Impact released by the monster reached him the two Force fields collided. Ripples in the Air became distorted and chaotic. The incandescent Lights on the Ceiling and the bottles and jars placed around simultaneously shattered.
Simultaneously his Shadow eerily bypassed the Crowd behind him extending directly into the Corridor.
“Swish””Swish””Swish”
Crisp cutting sounds echoed as thick Tentacles met the Shadow then shattered segment by segment falling to the Floor.
Blood splattered flesh bits expanded turning the entire Corridor dark red.
A moment later the Corridor was clear just covered in a thick layer of Blood that was rapidly solidifying.
This Blood transformed into a semi-solidified Crystal-like substance.
“It’s fine now…”
Lu Xin’s Gaze remained fixed on the monster but his voice was directed at the People behind him.
“I do need your Cooperation.”
Then he tried to explain using concise Language avoiding potential communication issues.
“What Cooperation?”
The Ability Users from Central City rushed to ask gripping their Guns tightly their faces set with determination.
But because they all spoke at once Lu Xin paused then said: “Leave this Place.”
“Don’t peek don’t get close and definitely don’t interfere!”
…?
The Central City Ability Users didn’t understand immediately clear Astonishment showing on their faces.
“Ah…”
But just then Gecko suddenly yelled: “I know this one…”
As he spoke he was already striding into the Corridor shouting: “Quick follow me…”
After running a few steps he realized the Crowd hadn’t followed frantically ran back pattering his feet and yelled: “Let’s go already…”
Saying this the warm-hearted Gecko went to help the most heavily injured Xia Chong.
Chen Jing also reacted suddenly yanking the Backpack off Gecko’s back and tossing it far towards Lu Xin’s Feet.
Then she turned smoothly pushing another injured Central City Ability User into Gecko’s Embrace while she herself supported Xia Chong striding towards the Corridor shouting: “Trust us leave immediately…”
Just moments ago they couldn’t escape through the Corridor because various Tentacles and Flesh monsters blocked all passages.
But now those Flesh monsters that inspired Despair at first glance had seemingly vanished…
Or rather not vanished; they were still in the Corridor.
They had just become that thick layer of semi-crystallized Blood covering the Floor.
“You…”
As Chen Jing helped her rush into a simple escape Tunnel Xia Chong finally couldn’t hold back.
She glanced at Lu Xin’s retreating figure about to disappear from view then turned her Gaze to glare fiercely at Chen Jing for the third time.
“This is the highly stable B-rank Spider-type Ability User with no Violation record you mentioned?”
…
Chen Jing remained silent then said: “Based on the current Information theoretically yes.”
The faces of the Central City Ability Users turned exceptionally strange.
The goth-style lady suddenly turned to Gecko: “Theoretically speaking your levels are the same?”
Gecko wanted to curse but looking at the person asking he held back.
Instead he hesitated nodded slightly and said: “Theoretically speaking… yes!”
…
“So you’re… God?”
At this point seeing that the Colleagues from Central City and his Colleagues from Qinggang had all escaped the Corridor and his Surroundings grew quiet he finally relaxed slightly. Then he looked up at the monster standing ten meters away observing it briefly.
Then he smiled shook his head and said: “You’re not.”
I’ve heard People say God should tend towards Perfection but you look like this…”
…
“What do you understand?”
Just then the ‘God’ remained silent but behind it Zhao Shiming in the Glass room roared furiously.
While Lu Xin observed the monster he was also observing Lu Xin. From any perspective an Opponent capable of directly withstanding the powerful Mental Impact of God’s Body was worth careful Observation. As a Researcher he understood this well.
At this moment influenced by various factors he was rapidly oscillating between Reason and Madness.
His voice lacked the restraint of a normal person sounding like the roar of a wild beast:
“How could someone with your level of insight and Wisdom possibly understand what true Perfection is?”
“Using human eyes to judge how could you possibly comprehend a higher form of Life?”
…
“He’s actually insulting Dr. Mo since he’s the one who came up with this theory…”
Lu Xin muttered inwardly then turned to Zhao Shiming in the Glass room sighed softly and said:
“I truly can’t understand your aesthetic sense but I know that creating things like this is illegal.”
“It even… breaks the bottom lines!”
“Chen Xun… my Relative he did wrong and I will handle him. But you ”
He looked at Zhao Shiming and the surrounding Lab personnel who were either dead or driven mad: “And all of you.”
“As his Companions you must also face the judgment of the law!”
After earnestly saying these words he looked at Zhao Shiming: “So are you prepared to surrender directly or what?”
His Attitude was sincere:
“I must tell you beforehand my Experience in handling such matters is insufficient. So if we absolutely must use force to resolve this then I might not be able to hold back. Everyone present here might potentially…”
…
“Mentally ill person…”
Zhao Shiming suddenly screamed madly. Following his voice the ‘God’ abruptly charged forward.
It was hard to imagine its massive Body possessing such terrifying Speed.
It stomped a large Hole in the Floor its sharp Claws reaching directly for Lu Xin’s Neck.
But the moment the monster charged at him Lu Xin’s figure fell backward sharply.
And in this absolutely unbalanced posture he slid half a circle to the left smoothly drawing a Gun from the Backpack Chen Jing had tossed him. Then defying gravity he ran onto the surrounding Wall striding forward rapidly.
“Bang””Bang”
Two Bullets flew one after another towards the Glass room.
There was already a spiderweb Crack Gecko had made earlier; the center point was extremely fragile.
“Bang”
One bullet accurately hit that point.
“Crack”
The other bullet precisely passed through the Hole blooming on Zhao Shiming’s Forehead.
Lu Xin holding the Gun flipped upside down hanging from the Ceiling.
Watching Zhao Shiming’s Head tilt hitting the Glass Wall on the other side he frowned slightly.
He finished the sentence he hadn’t completed earlier: “…die.”
