Chapter 359: Shadows Over Water Buffalo City
by xennovelSwish!
The ‘God’ seemed somewhat surprised as Lu Xin abruptly charged right in front of it.
No panic showed on its face, or rather its head, but its six eyes darted rapidly. Its right arm shot out instantly, the color and surface of the thick limb changing rapidly, developing a stone-like layer as ferocious bone spurs pierced through the skin.
The enhancement of its flesh and blood seemed to have brought about a qualitative change in some sense.
The thick arm with its stone-like surface looked like it could deflect even bullets. Its immense strength seemed to punch a hole through the air itself. The surface of the massive fist bristled with sharp bone spurs as it struck directly at Lu Xin’s face.
Lu Xin simultaneously raised his arm reaching forward to grab.
*Crack…*
The ‘God’ struck Lu Xin’s body its sharp bone spurs sinking into the black shadow covering his form.
But Lu Xin grabbed its arm and tore it off with the momentum.
It was surprisingly easy like his Sister tearing apart a toy. The tough material seemed utterly useless.
Swish! Swish!
The ‘God’ seemed enraged. Its other arm lashed out violently. At the same time the tentacles behind it flew up like serpents stabbing chaotically towards Lu Xin. The tip of each tentacle extruded a bright bone spur sharp as a dagger.
Its speed was already astonishingly fast but Lu Xin suddenly appeared to its left. With a twist and a pull he ripped off its other arm. The next moment Lu Xin slithered along its body tearing off its tentacles one by one. Then came its left leg and before its body could fall he reached for its right leg…
The parts of this creature fell off one by one like a dismantled puppet.
*Omm…*
A distorted Mental Force Field emanated from around the ‘God’ apparently trying to push Lu Xin away.
But the black shadow around Lu Xin ignored this force field continuing its meticulous work of dismantling and tearing.
After tearing off the limbs he suddenly reached out and grabbed the ‘God’s’ head.
Anger appeared on the ‘God’s’ face its flesh and blood writhing and merging ceaselessly.
From within its body and the flesh beneath it monsters resembling pythons suddenly drilled out rushing rapidly towards Lu Xin. But Lu Xin used the momentum to leap high grabbed the ‘God’s’ head and yanked upwards forcefully.
*Splat…*
The ‘God’s’ head was torn from its neck pulling out flesh blood and the spine along with it.
“God? Heh heh…”
Lu Xin looked at the six dimming eyes and smiled with pleasure.
Turning sharply he saw Little Nineteen not far away staring at him wide-eyed.
Her little face held an expression of worship just like before.
Lu Xin sighed helplessly hid the ‘God’s’ head behind his back and gestured with his fingers ordering her to turn back around again.
*Gurgle…*
The moment the monster’s head was ripped off the fleshy body beneath Lu Xin’s feet suddenly collapsed downwards.
It was like a sea floating in the sky plummeting down. At the same time a distinct bulge appeared on the flesh. It moved rapidly along the flesh travelling across its massive body which filled nearly half the city rushing towards the distance.
“Not dead yet…”
Lu Xin wasn’t surprised. He already understood the essence of this monster.
The mental entity codenamed ‘Life’.
It possessed high vitality and could pollute other flesh and blood.
So of course it wasn’t so easily killed. The true god wasn’t this little thing whose head he had just torn off.
The true god was the countless mass of flesh and blood pressing down on the entire city.
So seeing that monster escape within its vast body he didn’t even twitch.
“Go on!”
Lu Xin whispered seeming to talk to himself, “The first time truly unleashing your power you won’t disappoint me right?”
“Hehehehe…”
Father didn’t answer directly but the shadow wrapped around Lu Xin suddenly sank.
The shadow on Lu Xin grew thinner but the black shadow beneath his feet swelled instantly spreading rapidly.
Soon the shadow merged with the other omnipresent black shadows in these ruins.
Within the black shadows starting from beneath Lu Xin’s feet the swelling writhing flesh rapidly crystallized and solidified at a visible speed turning into the things he had killed in the courtyard earlier those that could transform into gecko-like shapes.
A strange atmosphere gradually began to emerge throughout Water Buffalo City.
…
“What is that?”
Far away the Doctor in the joint team suddenly shivered looking up warily.
“It feels like… something even more terrifying than the monster has appeared…”
At the same time Chen Xun whose hands were pinned watching his blood drain quietly suddenly felt a tremor run through him. It felt like the hairs on his body stood on end for no reason. The sensation even made him forget the pain. His body shuddered violently and he looked up in a certain direction. He couldn’t see anything only endless darkness but he thought of something terrifying.
“It can’t be…”
He muttered unable to believe his own hypothesis.
…
“Has it been released?”
“That power he hid in the shadow?”
In the City Center area inside the only building still intact Chen Xun sat in the candlelight.
He felt the earth tremble and saw the stopwatch beside him begin to vibrate erratically its pointer shaking as if malfunctioning influenced by some power. This indicated that some powerful Mental Radiation was already affecting this parasitic item.
“It’s useless.”
His face glistening with cold sweat still held his pride. Facing the darkness he announced his victory.
“True life cannot be killed!”
“No matter how strong the Tyrant’s power is it’s the only mental entity that doesn’t possess the pollution trait!”
“Faced with the God’s Body which can exceed the size of a city even the Tyrant will be helpless…”
“Just like even the strongest poison cannot change an entire sea…”
He shouted excitedly this excitement temporarily making him forget the increasingly unbearable agony from his hands.
Until he suddenly felt a pair of eyes land on him from the darkness.
…
*Zzzzz…*
In the outer city area of Water Buffalo City the tissues of nerves and blood vessels had already neared the residential area spreading rapidly.
“What is this?”
Someone saw these things by the light of an oil lamp and screamed in terror.
Swish!
All the nerves and blood vessels raised their heads like a nest of snakes and lunged towards them rapidly.
*Whoosh…*
But at that exact moment the oil lamp in the room suddenly extinguished.
People panic when they can’t see especially when they just saw such terrifying things squeezing through the cracks in the room.
The panic in their hearts made them scream wanting to rush out the door but they didn’t. Because the moment the oil lamp went out a chilling sensation like a knife’s edge scraping against hair suddenly filled the dilapidated small hut.
Immediately following were sounds of violent collision the thud of a sharp knife chopping into bone.
The people inside the room had no idea what was happening only feeling that indescribable fear.
Similar sounds of chaos were clearly not limited to this small hut. Similar commotions came from elsewhere. He heard someone exclaim in the distance someone scream someone shout loudly, “Amao run! Forget about the sheep…”
But without exception all the sounds lasted only a moment before falling into dead silence.
It was as if everyone had a knife pressed against their throat abruptly silenced.
*Boom…*
A loud vibration suddenly came from the surroundings. Some houses abruptly collapsed halfway.
Something unknown suddenly caught fire its flames momentarily illuminating the surroundings.
By the light filtering in from outside this person saw the scene inside the room clearly and his eyes widened in terror.
He saw in his small hut a tall gloomy man wearing a transparent raincoat pinning a monster against the wall. With a sharp knife in hand he was repeatedly stabbing it into the monster’s body. The man turned his head slowly and glanced at him.
He didn’t know if this scene was a hallucination.
Because the flames outside flickered and when the room lit up again the scene he had just witnessed was gone.
Only in the depths of the black shadow covering more than half the floor something seemed to be moving erratically or rather twitching and screaming.
A crescent Red Moon hung over the city.
The entire city was filled everywhere with black shadows.
Shadows had always been quiet and silent but now the shadows seemed to have come alive.
Everyone who saw these shadows had a feeling like something was moving through them.
They could even feel gazes within the shadows assessing them quietly.
Boundless fear arose spontaneously making them forget everything their bodies becoming like statues.
…
“Mental entity codenamed ‘Life’. Can parasitize flesh and blood causing monsters.”
“Weaknesses: High temperatures various weapons capable of destroying the parasitic mental entity and high-intensity pollution.”
“Due to its powerful regrowth characteristic all weaknesses are non-fatal.”
…
Standing atop the crystallized body of the flesh monster this was now the highest point in the entire city.
He looked down at the pitch-black city sensing the danger within the shadows.
Then a happy smile appeared on his face.
This flesh monster was indeed terrifying because it could grow almost infinitely ignoring all kinds of fatal damage.
And with the High Table’s careful preparations the entire Water Buffalo City served as its ‘materials’.
A Pollution Source that met the pollution requirements could grow into a monster in a short time.
What’s more this Pollution Source was one of the thirteen abnormal mental entities?
This was probably why the Black Table was so confident right?
However since the problem could be solved through high-intensity pollution traits things became simple.
Father would satisfy them very well.”
