Chapter Index

    “Hum…”

As Lu Xin stepped into the glow of the Red Moon, a sudden, dense surge of mental power enveloped the entire world.

Above, the Primordial force—and the countless mental tendrils that had cascaded from it—interwove with projections from the era preceding the Red Moon incident, growing so vast and clear as to border on reality, only to flicker off like a TV screen being abruptly shut down a moment later…

Then, every projection and image vanished into thin air, completely erased.

The stream-like mental power flowed slowly. The Doll, whose mental strength was nearly collapsing, was granted a brief respite as countless figures swiftly converged upon her, delicately and gracefully replenishing her mental field.

Clenching her teeth in defiance, she fought against the Primordial Father, the Fire-Thief, the Pale Abyss Worm, all of whom began to retract their mental power.

Some appeared bewildered, others exhaled in relief, while still others kept a wary gaze fixed upon the sky.

    ……

    ……

The sacrificial ritual was far from over – everyone could feel it unmistakably.

The Primordial Force still reigned: whether in the abyss or in reality, it was omnipresent, looming over everyone.

It could be said that the Primordial had already descended; just a fraction more and it would completely engulf reality.

Yet at that critical moment, the Primordial’s power suddenly contracted, as if another force had forced it to redirect all energy to counter an even more vital matter.

    “What’s happening?”

    “Is it all over?”

    “……”

From Qinggang to every corner of the world, countless people voiced that question simultaneously. Few could truly comprehend the situation at this moment. Even at the mental level, although many had witnessed Lu Xin stepping into the Red Moon’s light, not everyone understood what that moment signified—or what had just halted the calamity so abruptly.

Thus, panic ensued as people questioned each other, desperate to find a rational explanation.

And as countless people worldwide voiced their queries, tears suddenly began streaming down the Doll’s face as she floated in midair.

Standing amidst the surge of mental power, she sensed that nearly everyone in the world was asking the same question.

She knew the answer—but even she found it hard to respond.

    Because she was heartbroken.

She lifted her sleeve, wiped away her tears, and stared up at the Red Moon, hoping that he would appear before her very next moment.

    “Lu Xin…”

In Qinggang City, Teacher Xiao Lu, hiding in a basement, was suddenly overwhelmed by an indescribable sadness.

She was an ordinary person; her perception wasn’t that acute.

Yet for reasons unknown, in that moment, a grief beyond any Ability User’s could well up inside her—raw and weighty.

    “Is it Number Nine?”

“Number Nine… What did Number Nine just do?”

    “……”

Within the altar, the sacrificed power, forcibly controlled, trapped Number Two, Number Three, Number Five, Number Eight, and others as if confined in an invisible cage. Suddenly, they snapped back to clarity—as though emerging from a nightmare—and quickly returned from the mental realm. They found themselves back in their original residential building, looking upon a long table adorned with dishes and a cup that had once held wine.

Standing in that real yet hollow room, they exchanged glances and gradually pieced together the truth.

    “Number Nine… he actually…”

An indescribable shiver gripped their entire bodies; they suddenly felt their eyes burning.

    ……

    ……

    “Don’t be sad. I’ll be back soon…”

The Red Moon hung silently in the sky, and everything seemed so calm.

It was as if someone had gathered all the danger and despair into one place and was battling it.

His consoling voice echoed gently in the ears of every sorrowful soul.

On the mental plane, a faint shadow emerged from the depths of the abyss. With a smile, he tenderly embraced the Doll, who stood weeping in midair and stubbornly refused to descend. He lightly pressed his forehead against hers and gazed into her eyes, simply smiling.

“Guard our world well. Wait for my return…”

He whispered in her ear, “Also, don’t forget to get our money back…”

When I return, I’ll be able to retire – no need to work, and money will never be an issue. We can spend every day binge-watching dramas and classic films.

At the same time, this figure appeared in Teacher Xiao Lu’s dream.

Using his mysterious power, he gently pressed down on her back, reconnecting her spine with tender care.

    “I’m sorry…”

He murmured, “May you always be healthy, always able to run freely in joy…”

Nothing could ever stop little Xiao Lu, the joyful one, from running under the sunlight.

    That is beauty itself…

He materialized in an old building in Qinggang, kicking away a skinless dog before turning his gaze toward Heichao City—at the sight of a tear-streaked Sister and a pallid, unwilling Father. The figure reached out from a distance, grabbed their hands, and led them back into a room in that old building. They sat at a dining table as warm lights slowly flickered on amid the dark night.

By the window, a playing card with a mysterious pattern—an eye embedded in the design—was placed.

In that playing card, a faint shadow appeared, gazing tenderly at Family.

    “Everything will be alright…”

He reassured, “When I return, we’ll all sit down together for a proper feast.”

    “……”

    “……”

    “Hahaha, you still lost…”

In the City of Life, Number Seven—normally taciturn—suddenly smirked at the Old Director.

Her face brimmed with endless ridicule as she leaped up, snatched a bowl nearby as a weapon, and ferociously attacked the Old Director. Blow after blow raced across his body, leaving fresh scars, only to be flung away by the lingering Primordial force on him. She seemed utterly elated, exclaiming, “I’ve waited so long just to see how formidable you really are…”

“I feared you, because I dared not betray you — you’re the most frightening person in the world…”

“But now, look—you’re nothing like that at all…”

“I regret it so much… why did I ever follow you all these years…”

“Why am I the only one terrified of you, while they oppose you and yet find hope…”

“You make my every choice feel like a failure…”

    “……”

The Old Director’s lingering consciousness paid no heed to Number Seven’s words, nor did he wish to refute them. With dejection, he gazed into midair, his ever-present smile—the one that had adorned the Coronated Clown—now completely vanished.

    “Old friend…”

His voice trembled slightly as he murmured, “This outcome is not what I had hoped for…”

“It’s alright. You’ve given us an outstanding performance…”

High in midair, the Coronated Clown bent slightly and, with an exaggerated salute aimed at the Old Director, paid his respects.

“I just wanted to be the brightest star on the stage…”

He smiled as he consoled the Old Director, “I knew from the start that you could help me. And you did; you made me the lead for a fleeting moment. Though the spotlight was snatched away soon after, at least that wish was realized. So I won’t hold it against you, my old friend. It’s just that I think you’re no longer able to wait for the moment when everything becomes clear…”

The Old Director lifted his gaze and asked the Coronated Clown, “You’ll help me see it through, won’t you?”

    “I will…”

The Clown nodded gently, his playful smile betraying a hint of genuine earnestness.

“Just as you once chose to be my sole audience, I too am willing to be the one to see you off…”

    “……”

The world’s most dangerous man and the most perilous ultimate being looked at each other across a warped space as if gazing in a mirror.

No one expected that at this moment, there would be no frenzy—only calm and mutual respect.

“Are you ready to set off?”

Through layer upon layer of space, the Coronated Clown extended a white-gloved hand toward the Old Director.

    “My old friend…”

    “……”

    “……”

    “Great Huanhuan…”

The Dracula Doomsday Legion also watched from midair. After a long while, they sighed softly and then proposed an idea to the people in the Club, “Although in this doomsday ordeal, our Dracula Legion played a significant role – like when hope seemed all but lost and we gathered magnificent feasts and wines for a grand doomsday party…”

“But considering that the apocalypse was abruptly halted, I have a suggestion…”

    “……”

While speaking, he looked at Old Wang and said, “How about transferring your title as the strongest member of the Red Moon Club to him?”

Mad Old Wang paused and suddenly shouted in opposition, “I disagree!”

    “Objection overruled…”

Dracula waved his hand and glared fiercely at him, “If you disagree, I’ll kill you.”

    ……

    ……

    “Why is everyone so sad?”

Before a dilapidated Research Institute ruin, a Scalpel clad in a tattered white coat squatted by a fallen, broken wall, watching the dejected expressions of Director Xue Jia, Xia Chong, and Doctor An, as though unable to comprehend.

“You’re insane. What do you know?”

Xia Chong and the others were snapped out of their mood by his absurd reaction, and they scolded him irritably.

    “I do understand…”

The Scalpel scratched his head in confusion and said, “I just don’t get it. You recover so quickly – why the sorrow?”

    ……

    ……

“So, is it because the Tyrant has begun his battle against the Primordial, thereby halting this calamity for now?”

At the same time in Qinggang, at the Mental Power Research Base, Professor Bai, Mr. Su, Minister Shen, the old triumvirate, along with other researchers and mental power experts from around the world—as well as lab personnel spreading news on the Moon Eclipse Research—learned of the cause and outcome from the moment Lu Xin walked into the Red Moon and from the latest reports on the Moon Eclipse research.

They felt a surge of shock and sentiment hard to put into words, murmuring quietly.

    “Yes.”

Professor Bai replied softly, “He is resisting the Primordial with his own will. This has helped us temporarily avert disaster.”

“For him, there are only two outcomes.”

“Either he fails, his consciousness overwhelmed by the Primordial until the sacrifice resumes and everything returns to the old ways of civilization…”

“Or he succeeds – becoming the first ever complete…”

    “God!”

    “……”

“Are we doomed to just wait?”

Mr. Su trembled on the inside and asked tensely, “Lu Xin of Qinggang is in the midst of this fight while we’re left waiting?”

“No – precisely because of that, we cannot simply wait…”

Professor Bai shook his head and said, “This is a challenge no one can stop, yet each of us can lend a hand.”

    “The Tyrant isn’t Lu Xin…”

“I never thought he’d make it this far.”

“But I believe that when he does, he won’t be driven by despair but filled with confidence.”

“Because our Heaven’s Kingdom Plan, Phase Three, can help him. It can bring him back.”

    “Perhaps…”

He paused before continuing, “It was only when he saw Phase Three of the plan before departing that he found the courage to act.”

Those around him felt his resolve and lifted their eyes to look at him.

    What exactly is Phase Three?

    ……

    ……

“That genius researcher from the Moon Eclipse Research Institute who jumped from a hundred-story building is known as the most despairing person among us. When he neared the truth, he was monitored by the First Researcher, and his research brought him closer to the Primordial. Overwhelmed by despair, he ultimately chose to end his life. But was he truly a hopeless man?”

“Though he was always cloaked in despair, the plan he left behind for this world holds the greatest hope…”

    “Creating gods…”

Professor Bai clenched his fist, “Just as the Doll can awaken the beauty within people, we need such an ultimate.”

“The ultimate is the mirror of civilization—it embodies the emotions of our world.”

“All hope isn’t dependent on us being tainted by the ultimate, but rather on us tainting the ultimate…”

“So, starting with the Doll, if we remain steadfast and believe in beauty, the ultimate will, in turn, be purified—not the death knell for civilization, but its guardian.”

“We will rebuild civilization and order, stepping into a new era that refuses charity.”

“This is the plan of that genius researcher.”

    “……”

As Professor Bai spoke, a determined smile spread across his face, “We will succeed.”

“Because we already have the Doll and many ultimate allies on our side.”

“The beauty within people will be awakened, and the ultimate will be transformed by our unwavering hope into a protector.”

“Not many – just seven will suffice…”

“Then, when the seven guardians of civilization gather with hope in their hearts, they will welcome God…”

“…no, welcome the return of our Lone Soldier!”

    “……”

    “……”

Professor Bai’s voice, though soft, carried a deafening weight.

At that moment, everyone instinctively raised their eyes to the Red Moon in the sky.

They discovered that the Red Moon’s glow was gradually turning pure white, as if the shadows within human hearts were being banished.

    How wonderful…

They contemplated Professor Bai’s plan—the work of the smartest minds in the world and the collective effort of countless people.

It was a long-term plan that required everyone’s diligence.

Yet one could not help but admit that the future it described was truly beautiful…

    ------Afterword------

    The story ends here.

There will be an epilogue, but it’s merely an echo of the tale, inconsequential to the main events.

The ending’s pacing is key. As I wrote this, I felt that the story was complete. Everything I wanted to convey has been expressed. Yet, there remains regret—for instance, the storyline involving the Old Director and the Coronated Clown, as well as the dispute over rank between the skinless dog and the Coronated Clown. These were in the outline, but couldn’t be fitted in due to pacing, so they’re set aside for now.

In the future, there might be an extra chapter focusing on the relationship between the Coronated Clown and the Old Director. That would be an entirely different story.

For now, I need a break before writing the epilogue.

    End-of-Book Reflections

.la Hello everyone, the Red Moon has now concluded!

I, Old Ghost, am quite satisfied with the ending. I was initially worried if everyone could accept it, but it turns out that the reception far exceeded my expectations. Many thought the penultimate chapter was perfect.

But I hope there will still be a final chapter – one that embodies hope.

Some readers already noticed that in a previous interview, I mentioned that the core of Red Moon was clear.

The entire book chronicles one person’s journey out of repressive negativity.

After all, I began writing it just for fun to record that period of emotion. Later, while expanding the outline and setting, I naturally integrated that idea. And I believe it was truly meaningful.

The story has ended, but there is one extra matter to address.

For example, the friendship between the Old Director and the Clown was originally designed to deepen their characters…

But as I wrote, I dared not insert that portion, so as not to disrupt the overall pace. It will appear in an extra chapter for you all.

Of course, I need a break first.

Also, there will be an epilogue. Since this book has a prologue, it surely must have an epilogue.

But this epilogue is for those who prefer neatly wrapped endings. People who favor complete endings are kind-hearted, and Old Ghost would never break that kindness. Still, I hope you enjoy this ending. It isn’t open-ended, because everything has been made clear. I believe that Red Moon’s story, starting in despair and repression, should end with hope.

Red Moon spans 3.01 million words and reached 45,000 subscriptions upon completion. I hope it soon breaks 50,000.

It took over a year to write—it’s one of Old Ghost’s faster updates.

While fast, I never compromised on quality. This book isn’t perfect, but I genuinely poured my heart into it.

Thank you all for your support and for the success it has brought me.

Now, versions for film, animation, Simplified and Traditional Chinese have all been sold. This is Old Ghost’s most successful work.

During the creative process, I experienced confusion and exhaustion, yet with your company, I managed to complete over a year of creation.

Thank you for giving a niche story like Red Moon a chance to shine.

And thank you for taking the time to listen as I dissected and explained a person’s emotional journey.

Red Moon’s success is due to your tolerance. This isn’t mere politeness—it’s the truth.

Next, I’ll take a break to plan properly.

    Finally, thank you all again!!

I wish everyone good dreams every night.

    .la

Epilogue – To Those Who Will Eventually Embrace Happiness!

A bright moon hung atop the towering buildings of the city; though it couldn’t light every dark corner, it bestowed a radiant glow. Even when passing through cemeteries dotted with lonely graves, its presence emboldened one’s courage.

This plump, orange cat boldly leapt over a tomb, dashing beneath the pale moonlight.

It carried a black envelope in its mouth and sported a tiny armband on its paw bearing the characters for “Qinggang”.

Weaving through crooked tombstones, it startled a pack of stray dogs wandering among the graves.

Many of these fierce dogs even clutched bones with remnants of grimy, decayed flesh, their eyes gleaming like ghostly fire. Yet in the presence of this fat orange cat, even they felt an undercurrent of fear.

Before they could bare their fangs, one of them whimpered at the cat’s piercing gaze…

The plump orange cat sprinted lightly under the moon, until it reached a dilapidated villa shrouded in decay.

Inside, a dim blue light flickered—strange and somber.

On a worn-out sofa opposite the blue glow lay a girl barely 1.5 meters tall. Upon closer look, it became clear that she wasn’t a complete woman—her upper body resembled that of a girl, but her lower half dragged a large belly.

Bathed in that peculiar blue light, her body twitched subtly as she gritted her teeth and writhed.

The atmosphere was chilling and eerie, punctuated by ghostly sounds that were barely audible.

    “Smack…”

The fat cat leapt into the villa, scaling the wall and swiping at a wall lamp with one paw.

The blue light dimmed, and the girl on the sofa abruptly sat up, still holding half a chocolate bar in her mouth.

The orange cat crouched by the door, squinting as it watched her.

Though the cat couldn’t speak, its expression seemed to say directly:

“Aren’t you too old to be watching ghost movies with the lights off in the middle of the night?”

    “……”

At this, the girl on the sofa looked crestfallen; the chocolate bar fell to the ground as her mouth twitched repeatedly.

Why can’t one watch ghost movies at midnight?

If not ghost movies, what else is there to do?

After all, she was once the Queen of Happy Town, famous for her splendor…

But after that terrifying figure returned, everything in this world began to defy logic.

The living she had tainted were all set free—that’s one thing—but then Qinggang had the audacity to come back and claim that her pollution even affected the deceased, showing disrespect to the remains…

…Did this violate some Qinggang laws?

So, even the dead were buried, with proper headstones in a humane fashion.

But that left the Queen with not a single useful subordinate.

Surrounded by graves, she dared not dig arbitrarily.

Because now, pollution was a crime…

Thus, the once mighty ruler of the S-level Forbidden Zone, the proud Queen of Happy Town, now had to huddle in her villa, spending her days eating chocolate bars and watching ghost movies. Fortunately, Qinggang kept its contractual promises, continuously supplying her with ample leisure and daily necessities. They even employed a few D-level members as nannies to clean every few days.

Otherwise, the Queen had already thought of going out to find a real job…

So what brings her here now?

Life had become so comfortable that the Queen’s guard was lowered; after a while, she finally noticed the orange cat and fixed her gaze upon it.

    This was an official cat.

Nowadays, all the gathering points in the area were under Qinggang’s control—rogue Ability Users and even some deeply hidden individuals had willingly joined the Special Pollution Cleanup Department or enrolled in mental rehabilitation and reemployment programs. Among them was this orange cat, which had long hidden in Blackwater Town. It was said that it had attached itself to a prominent figure and now enjoyed a flashy life.

What was it doing at her quiet villa, where only ghost movies and chocolate bars kept her company?

The orange cat gently dropped the black envelope from its mouth and meowed at the Queen.

The aura of mental power made it easy for the Queen to grasp its meaning: “He’s getting married. I’m here to deliver the invitation…”

    “An invitation?”

The Queen blinked, noticing that the black envelope was stamped with a large character for “celebration.”

It also depicted a man in a suit and a doll-like girl exchanging a heart-shaped kiss.

The style was normal enough, and the invitation’s quality was impressive.

But they even printed the invitation in black—what an odd aesthetic…

The Queen lamented, thinking, I really am a monster. I can’t even fathom normal people’s thinking…

    “Yes…”

The orange cat meowed again—a short sound laden with meaning: “The great Tyrant, Mr. Lu of Qinggang, who has repeatedly been named one of the Top Ten Outstanding Youth and Model Worker by the Three Realms Alliance, is preparing to host his wedding. He has invited every old friend and explicitly stated that no red packets will be accepted from anyone…”

“Just attending is the best blessing.”

    “……”

Recalling the man with the gentle smile who had swallowed the Red Moon, the Queen shuddered involuntarily.

Well, if he’s going, then so be it…

Does she even have the right to refuse?

At least no red packets were accepted…

After all, though she had enough to eat, drink, and cleaning provided, she really was short of cash.

Just as that thought took root in her heart, a strange smile spread across the orange cat’s chubby face.

    “Meow…”

    Its meow suddenly turned sinister.

It was a reminder: “Of course, as the deterrent monarch, Mr. Hu—the Chief Preacher of Blackwater City and the part-time envoy of the Sevenfold Radiant Fairy (known for her kindness, cuteness, intelligence, wisdom, tenderness, and thoughtfulness)—has another friendly reminder for you all. As for Mr. Lu, he’s definitely not accepting red packets; blessings alone will do…”

    “But…”

Its tone turned cool, “Whether he accepts or not is his own affair—but it’s your matter altogether…”

The Queen stared blankly, “What does that mean?”

    “Just a friendly reminder.”

The orange cat explained, “The entire Lu family is reasonable—they’d never make things difficult or be greedy over such trifles. I was merely passing on a word from the great Mr. Hu, so that you all have a heads up. Whether you understand is entirely up to your own conscience.”

With that, it left a menacing look, turned lightly, and ambled away.

The Queen remained stunned in the blue glow of the television, trying hard to puzzle it out with her little head…

    What did it really want?

Even if she did want to, what could she possibly offer?

    Sell the villa, maybe?

    ……

    ……

At the same time, in various places across the world,

    different people received the invitation.

In Central City, Security Squad Leader Xia Chong and the Scalpel were delighted.

They decided to prepare a top-notch gift for Mr. Lu, for after all, one is his adopted sister and also a good friend of his. Family means showing up with a meaningful gesture at his wedding.

So, months in advance, Xia Chong collected over a thousand bullet casings to craft a huge heart-shaped plastic object for delivery.

The Scalpel, watching from the side, said in confusion, “Why not just give him money directly?”

Xia Chong rolled her eyes at the Scalpel, “This idiot wouldn’t understand the value of a carefully crafted gift. With our close relationship, directly giving money would seem too impersonal.”

    ……

    ……

    “Huanhuan is getting married?”

Deer-like Miss Dracula, having gotten wind of the explosive news through her channels, immediately posted in her chat group:

“The Tyrant of Qinggang, our world’s guardian, is about to marry another guardian of this world. On that day, all seven ultimates will extend their blessings, and the most influential figures in the world will attend to offer their congratulations.”

    “So…”

“Hurry up and pay – first come, first served.”

“For just 30 million, you can purchase an entry ticket to the wedding from Sister Dracula. Snap a photo with someone and it’ll be an heirloom worthy of bragging rights! You’ll be among those who attended the highest caliber banquet in the world!”

    “……”

The message in the group chat sparked widespread amazement, with Mad Old Wang the first to cheerfully sign up.

    ……

    ……

Many others also received the notice – including a sleep-inducing psychological therapist, a politician running for the hall chief of the Third City in Soda City, the gospel of New World Men in the form of Ms. Wu, and the Alliance’s Chief Lawyer, among others. They all prepared to attend the wedding; even the distant, bewildered Pale and the dumbstruck Abyss Worm were found.

In short, everyone was coming to the wedding – rest assured, no red packets would be accepted.

But must you insist on giving… hehe.

Even the Black Queen, who had been sentenced and now fallen in rank—known as Miss Jealousy—had been granted parole.

It was because her sister wanted to see her and reminisce.

    ……

    ……

“Oh no, the bride is throwing a tantrum…”

Yet as the most influential people in the world prepared to attend, in the bustling old building of Qinggang, suddenly bad news spread that set everyone on edge.

“What’s wrong? What’s making her angry on such a joyous day?”

    “……”

Facing the inquiries, the girl with the thermos in hand excitedly explained, “They say—and I’ve only heard it from someone, so don’t spread it… that Mr. Lu, our little soldier, shortly after his return, was told by Mr. Hu that the pressure over the years had become unbearable. He needed a therapeutic outing, so they took him to a proper bar…”

“And what happened there? Nobody knows…”

“Anyway, the bride won’t be able to see it. Though she can see the entire world, she cannot see where Mr. Lu is.”

“But apparently some rumors reached her ears… then…”

    “Hehehe…”

“Oh, now it makes sense why the bride is angry…”

Those nearby listened with growing excitement—especially the gentle Godly Woman munching on sunflower seeds, Red Serpent, and the stern Watchdog. Even a little unnoticed creature squeezed at the outskirts, waving its tiny tentacles excitedly.

Everyone chattered simultaneously, asking, “What about Mr. Hu?”

    “He bolted…”

The girl with the thermos waved her hand, “He left in a hurry last night without even packing his things—wearing just his underwear as he dashed out of the city…”

“Hahaha, no, don’t laugh. This is serious…”

“So, how do we solve this now?”

    “……”

    “We honestly don’t know…”

A tall, short-haired woman passing by couldn’t help but laugh. Since it was a joyous occasion, she had on a pink suit. Suppressing her laughter, she casually remarked, “Anyway, Madam Zhang and the Sevenfold Radiant Fairy will handle it.”

“But for some reason, the more they persuaded, the angrier she got…”

    “……”

“Come on, cheer up, will you?”

By the time the matter had spread everywhere, Mr. Lu himself was helplessly trying to pacify the girl in front of him, arms crossed and pouting in frustration, “I really didn’t do anything. I just had a few drinks, chatted for a bit—haven’t seen him in so long, so I talked about the past few years. Next thing you know, I got too drunk…”

The most beautiful bride in the world pouted silently, turning her face away.

    Unable to hear a word.

    Mr. Lu was sweating profusely.

He could conquer gods, swallow the Red Moon, and usher in a new moon within every mental entity’s heart.

But when it came to the angry girl before him…

A gentle, elegant lady nearby smiled contently as she watched the quarrel, her expression pleased.

The adorable little Queen, dressed in a kaleidoscope of colors and touted as the cutest in the world, hung upside down from the ceiling clapping her hands.

Even a pair of sullen eyes in a dark corner watched the carnage with keen interest.

The family was reunited, and they all seemed to cherish this scene.

    “Alright, enough…”

Mr. Lu resorted to his ultimate move: he kicked away a skinless dog wagging its tail and, from his lower back, produced a bank card which he tenderly shoved into the bride’s hand, saying, “This is something I never dared to part with when I left reality…”

    “Here, it’s yours now.”

“You see, from now on, even if I want to do something, I won’t have any money…”

    “……”

The bride glanced at the bank card, her color slowly returning as she reluctantly forgave him.

The elegant lady, the darling little Queen, and those sullen eyes in the dark corner all felt a profound disappointment.

“Alright, let’s go out and welcome the guests, shall we?”

Mr. Lu finally exhaled deeply, taking the bride’s hand as he stood up with one hand and slipped a few more cards from his back.

    ……

    ……

“Thank you all, thank you for coming from so far away…”

When Mr. Lu and his bride stepped into the hall and met the guests, they were showered with a flurry of lights and applause.

A gentle elementary school teacher, accompanied by a group of children, presented a vibrant bouquet of flowers to Mr. Lu and his bride. Everyone raised their glasses, wishing the most adorable and dependable couple eternal happiness… and greater strength.

Mr. Lu, holding his bride’s hand and gazing at her shy yet charming smile—and the enthusiastic, beaming faces around him—felt his burdens ease. The hardships of past years seemed to fade away in those smiles.

“You waited for me. I will return.”

Everyone basked in the unchanging sunlight. What a wonderful thing that was!

Just as everyone had come from afar upon hearing of his wedding.

And even after initially refusing, each person sincerely insisted on giving him a huge red packet…

    ……

    ……

“Alright, enough. Let’s witness the union of the newlyweds…”

Someone cleared their throat with a laugh, signaling that the ceremony was about to commence. Then, a long line of elderly master wedding celebrants stepped onto the stage—so numerous that among them were the world’s most revered Chief Expert in Mental Mutation, Professor Bai; Director An from the Moon Eclipse Research Institute; retired success lecturer Xue Jia; and of course Mr. Su from Qinggang, along with Minister Shen from the Alliance Defense Department.

It’s said that they had argued for nearly half a year over who should serve as the master celebrant, and finally decided to share the role.

But leading the procession was Mr. Su.

Because he secretly sent a gift…

They all stepped onto the stage together, took the microphone, and delivered their speeches with heartfelt warmth. Since there were so many, to save time, they spoke for about an hour in total—finishing before all the guests had drifted off to sleep—and the final speaker wrapped up his address. Then, a group of elderly dignitaries in crisp suits waved goodbye, inviting the couple to walk toward the end of a black carpet.

The guests clapped, as six beams of luminous, sacred light—formed by mental power weaving through the air—surged in from the left, intertwining with dark, desolate energy from the right, enveloping both sides of the carpet.

Twelve ultimates positioned themselves on either side, silently watching the newlyweds.

Mr. Lu led his bride, and with the company of the groomsmen and bridesmaids, walked slowly toward the end of the carpet.

Among them were Little Nineteen, a child; Little Zhou from Red Leaf City; Young CEO Xiao Yuan of Qinggang’s Xiao Group; and the popular singer Li Mengmeng from Qinggang. Originally, there was an equal number of groomsmen and bridesmaids, but now the groomsmen were two short—after all, the chief groomsman had fled, and another in a pink suit was habitually overlooked.

Music began as a band from the Red Moon Club struck up the piano and played the suona.

Outside the hall, a dance troupe invited from afar commenced a performance. On stage, a street dancer marked by innumerable scars performed in an eerie yet stunning manner.

Her dance was both strange and breathtaking, drawing endless admiration—even world-renowned dancer Red Dancing Shoes was effusive in praise.

    ……

    ……

“Shouldn’t a wedding be conducted under the watchful gaze of the gods?”

As the newlyweds passed along the carpet, hand in hand ascending the steps, a cute child asked,

    “The gods’ gaze?”

An adult nearby shook their head with a smile and said, “The gods won’t be watching over this wedding…”

“Because the gods are part of the wedding…”

    ……

    ……

Under the witness of countless people, Lu Xin turned to the Doll—whom he found both refreshing and amusing—and, prompted by Han Bing’s cue, began to ask:

    “Will you marry me?”

    “Mm…”

“Then, may I kiss you now?”

    “Mmm.”

    “Mmm mmm mmm…”

My friends, my new book “Crimson Descent” has reached 200,000 words.

.la I hadn’t promoted it before for fear it would seem derivative, lacking freshness, as though I were rehashing old work. Now I can confidently say it’s different from Red Moon – and just as exciting. If you haven’t had your fill yet, come and enjoy it.

Though it’s also a story of a proper person, different proper people have their own splendor, right?
