Chapter 924: The Green Dragon King’s Sister, Descendant of the Azure Dragon
by XenHalf a month later, in the ten-thousand-fathom deep sea.
Sitting cross-legged on the back of the Abyssal Sea Dragon Whale, the Turtle Immortal Patriarch sent a voice transmission to Lu Changsheng, who was resting in the stomach chamber: “Master, we’ve entered the Forbidden Sea.”
Lu Changsheng opened his eyes, dusted off his robe, stepped out of the stomach chamber, had Lu Lingjing take human form, and sped toward the Green Dragon King’s island.
The Forbidden Sea belonged to the Demon Race, where many demon kings lurked.
If the Abyssal Sea Dragon Whale rushed through too fast here, it might draw a demon king’s attack.
They feared no demon king below late fourth rank.
But since the Abyssal Sea Dragon Whale was half wanted in the Starry Sea, they preferred to avoid trouble, delays, and wasted time.
Another half month passed. The three arrived smoothly at the Green Dragon King’s Green Dragon Island.
The island spanned about three miles, towering and grand.
Unlike the islands, powers, and Immortal Cities of human cultivators,
it looked like an unclaimed island with only a faint demonic haze drifting about, protected by no formations or wards.
With a glance, Lu Changsheng saw the island was a grand entrance connecting layered spirit veins, seafloor rifts, and the boundless ocean.
There had to be some kind of restriction methods within those rifts.
“Green Dragon King, I’ve come to fulfill the favor I owe and keep our appointment.”
He didn’t advance, but cupped his hands toward the island and called out as a Nascent Soul aura spread from him.
“A cultivator, a human?!”
Though the island was the Green Dragon King’s, many demon beasts and demons dwelled there.
Sensing Lu Changsheng’s Nascent Soul aura, they trembled and roared in unease.
Then the sea within a hundred miles began to boil and roll.
A terrifying demonic aura rose, like a dragon’s roar ripping the sky.
The demon beasts and demon kings on the island and in the surrounding sea prostrated and trembled, welcoming their king.
A tall, burly man appeared, two ferocious dragon horns crowning his head, blue scales covering his cheeks, neck, and arms, a thick reptilian tail trailing behind him.
His vertical pupils gleamed with a cold metallic luster as he looked at Lu Changsheng, surprise in his gaze.
Then he grinned. “Human cultivator, you’re truly unusual. You just broke through to Nascent Soul, yet you wield such power.”
Lu Changsheng hadn’t fully released his pressure.
But as a demon, the Green Dragon King’s senses were sharp.
He could tell Lu Changsheng’s force far exceeded that of a typical new Nascent Soul.
He glanced past Lu Changsheng at Lu Lingjing and the Turtle Immortal Patriarch.
One look at Lu Lingjing told him she was a newly advanced fourth-rank shapeshifted demon king.
The Turtle Immortal Patriarch was running his innate ability, Turtle Breath, looking like an old servant. Even the Green Dragon King couldn’t read his depth.
Still, as a top demon king, he realized at once the old turtle was not simple.
His regard for Lu Changsheng rose another notch.
Freshly broken through to Nascent Soul yet stronger than most.
With a fourth-rank demon king at his side and an old servant even he couldn’t see through. No ordinary man.
He felt no fear, only pleasure.
After all, ordinary folk could never save his “sister.”
He had helped Lu Changsheng before to earn a favor only because of the prophecy from Dreamless and his wife.
Otherwise, back when Lu Changsheng was only at Core Formation, even with a fourth-rank spirit pet and a fourth-rank puppet, he would never have mattered.
“My breakthrough delayed me a bit. I ask the Green Dragon King’s pardon.”
Lu Changsheng cupped his hands politely.
“It’s fine,” the Green Dragon King said grandly.
To a fourth-rank demon king, a few years were just a nap.
As long as it wasn’t decades, he wouldn’t feel deceived.
“Where is your sister, and how is she now?”
Sensing the Peach Blossom Gu stirring in his sea of consciousness with hungry eagerness, Lu Changsheng’s face twitched, but he asked seriously.
He had zero designs on the Green Dragon King’s sister.
He came to repay a favor.
“Follow me.”
The Green Dragon King’s voice rang like hammered steel as he led the three into the island.
As Lu Changsheng had seen, Green Dragon Island was only an entrance. The true cave abode lay in a faulted undersea canyon.
They passed through layered fissures and corridors and arrived at a vast palace.
The whole palace was stacked from natural abyssal cliff rock, with countless demon bones, sea-stone, blood coral, and luminous pearls set into the seams.
Pale blue demon power flowed along the walls, linking with twelve dim pillars to form mottled, lightning-like dragon shadows.
Lu Changsheng was surprised by the sight.
The palace looked rough and simple, with no hint of luxury.
Yet the jumble of materials and the formations and restrictions were exquisitely done, nothing like a typical demon king’s cave.
Demons were born with strong bodies and, as they grew, awakened bloodline inheritance and innate abilities.
So most demons disdained studying divine abilities, artifacts, or the hundred crafts of cultivation.
Even fourth-rank shapeshifted demon kings, with sharp minds and long lives, rarely studied artifact forging, architecture, or formations.
So Lu Changsheng admired the Green Dragon King’s construction and array work.
He realized the Green Dragon King was even more unusual than he had thought.
“My King!”
“Greetings, My King.”
Other demon kings were present in the palace.
Two of them were fourth-rank. They bowed with respect, then eyed Lu Changsheng and the others in surprise.
Stern as ever, the Green Dragon King gave them a slight nod and led the three to the deepest chamber.
It felt like the ocean depths, dim and hollow, everything fading to nothing except formation nodes like whirlpool shadows.
The scene set Lu Changsheng on edge.
He felt he’d have to use the 【Sun-Moon Yin-Yang Mirror】 to blast open a gap here.
Even the Turtle Immortal Patriarch couldn’t help his astonishment.
He had long heard of the Green Dragon King in the Forbidden Sea.
He hadn’t expected the king’s cave to hide such methods.
Stooped and expressionless, he looked like a withered servant without the least threat.
But the instant things went awry, he’d strike and reveal the might of a top demon king.
After entering the palace, Lu Lingjing instinctively sidled closer to her master, a bit afraid.
Partly because the Green Dragon King himself felt dangerous.
Partly because the bones piled around and the formations gave off a nameless threat.
Especially the arched gate from the fissure corridor to the palace. She sensed it was a giant whale’s jawbone.
A token appeared in the Green Dragon King’s hand. The whirlpool shadows interwove, countless lights flared, and space rippled.
Then, on a massive concave couch carved from gloomy blue sea-marrow jade, a woman lay sealed in ice.
She was very tall, nearly ten feet.
Her graceful figure wore a blue-violet dress woven like dragon-scale gauze that traced every proud curve.
Snow-white shoulders and delicate collarbones were bare. Her arms looked slender yet strong, sheathed in translucent blue-violet dragon scales like sleeves, folded over her flat abdomen.
Her legs were long. Unlike the pale lush softness of most female cultivators, they were sheathed in dusky blue and moon-white scales.
Her feet were unlike a human’s, more like dragon claws bound with dark silver chains. Blue-violet luster shimmered on her toes, strangely beautiful.
Her face was cold as frost, brows and lashes lowered. Dark red lips were slightly parted, exhaling a breath that glittered with icy light.
Two slender spiral coral horns on her brow glowed with the deep blue of a deep-sea pearl.
Blue-violet hair drifted behind her like a jellyfish’s veil, crystal bright.
“This is the Green Dragon King’s sister?”
Lu Changsheng stared at the woman on the jade couch, then glanced at the king’s ferocious scaled face. These two were siblings?
They didn’t look alike at all.
Not just their faces.
Even their scales and horns were different.
Obviously different dragon bloodlines.
The Peach Blossom Gu in his brow sea had long since awakened and now clamored at him.
It urged him to seize the chance. If he formed a bond, he’d reap a massive tide of peach-blossom luck.
“Fellow Daoist Wang, this is my little sister.”
The Green Dragon King addressed Lu Changsheng without explaining her condition.
If the other man couldn’t even see what was wrong, talk of treatment was meaningless.
In that instant, Lu Changsheng’s late-stage Nascent Soul spirit-soul sensed a trace of respect in the king’s gaze toward this “sister.”
At the same time, the Turtle Immortal Patriarch sent him a voice transmission: “Master, this woman is definitely not the Green Dragon King’s sister. She is likely a descendant of the Azure Dragon!”
Lu Changsheng had only felt they looked unlike and bore different bloodlines.
As a demon, the old turtle instantly sensed from her a bloodline not inferior to his own.
Such a bloodline wasn’t something a low-tier True Spirit like the Green Dragon King could compare to.
“A descendant of the Azure Dragon?” Lu Changsheng kept his face calm.
“The strongest force in the Eastern Sea Cultivation Realm, the Dragon Palace, was founded by the Azure Dragon Clan.”
“From my bloodline memories and the Yuhai Mountain records, her horns match the Azure Dragon lineage.”
The Turtle Immortal Patriarch explained.
Though he hatched in the Starry Sea,
his bloodline memory and Yuhai Mountain’s inherited texts still gave him plenty of knowledge about the Eastern Sea.
Much of it was fragmentary though, not fully certain.
“Dragon Palace, Azure Dragon Clan…”
Lu Changsheng murmured. He hadn’t expected her background to be so grand.
He activated the Fiery Eyes of Truth and sent his divine sense over her.
In moments he found the problem.
She wasn’t unconscious.
She was straining to suppress a rampaging force inside her.
That force was terrifying and had thrown her state off balance.
Besides that, she seemed poisoned.
The toxin coiled around her body and spirit, leaving her half awake and half asleep.
“Green Dragon King, was your sister poisoned and cursed?”
Lu Changsheng asked after a pause.
“Since Fellow Daoist Wang can see her condition, do you have a way to treat her?”
Seeing Lu Changsheng diagnose so quickly, the Green Dragon King grinned.
“I need to examine her further to be certain,” Lu Changsheng said.
His quick read came from his late-stage Nascent Soul spirit-soul.
For details, he’d need to break the ice and inspect her body.
“Good.”
If Lu Changsheng had been an ordinary Nascent Soul who couldn’t even identify her state, the Green Dragon King wouldn’t have agreed to further examination.
Now that he’d shown his skill, he was worth trusting.
The Green Dragon King used a divine ability to melt the ice from her.
At once, a searing, tyrannical aura surged from her body, full of destruction and ruin.
So the ice had been helping suppress that violent heat.
“What a domineering force. What level is she? Poisoned like this, yet she can still endure and press it down?”
Lu Changsheng was amazed. Her strength was no weaker than his or the Green Dragon King’s.
He drew a deep breath. Blood thundered. His mid-fourth-rank physique fully awoke. Light shimmered under his skin as he stepped forward to examine her.
“Hm?” Surprise flickered across the Green Dragon King’s brutal, blue-scaled face at Lu Changsheng’s blood and body.
This human actually had a physique on par with a mid-fourth-rank demon king?
Humans did have body refinement.
But no matter how they tempered themselves, it was hard to rival demon kings.
And hadn’t Lu Changsheng just broken through to Nascent Soul?
How could his body be this strong?
The Green Dragon King grew increasingly curious about him.
He watched Lu Changsheng intently, waiting for the next assessment of his Master.
With each display that defied common sense, he hoped more for Lu Changsheng to save his Master.
With his mid-fourth-rank physique, Lu Changsheng ignored the scorching aura spilling from her. He set a finger on her wrist to check the riotous power and the poison.
A toxin immediately crept from her body into his finger.
With a mid-fourth-rank physique and training in the Hundred Refinements Body Technique and the True Saint Skill of Brahma and Demons, Lu Changsheng already had high poison resistance.
His Chaos Body had also fused the top-tier Calamity Poison Body, making him nearly immune to all poisons.
Yet this toxin still affected him a little.
A superior fourth-rank poison.
He realized it surpassed low and mid fourth-rank, enough to threaten late-stage Nascent Soul cultivators.
Only poison of that level could affect him.
He ran his Chaos Body and suppressed the invading toxin.
After a few breaths, he withdrew his finger and let out a slow, turbid breath. He had the full picture now.
Looking at the towering, ferocious Green Dragon King, he said, “Green Dragon King, I understand your sister’s condition and have a rough solution.”
“Oh?”
The Green Dragon King hadn’t expected him to diagnose so fast and offer a plan. Joy flickered in his eyes.
Only his savage gaze and face carried a crushing pressure.
When he smiled, his mouth split wide, revealing a lattice of icy, razor-sharp fangs.
“Your sister is heavily poisoned, and a power beyond her control is rampaging inside her.”
“In principle it’s simple. First detoxify, then either excise that power or bring it under control.”
Lu Changsheng paused, then added, “As for the poison, I can remove it, but it taints both body and soul. Clearing it will be very troublesome.”
With his poison-immune Chaos Body and the Ten Thousand Calamities Toxic Spirit Codex, he could handle even late fourth-rank toxins in flesh.
But body poisons were easy. Soul poisons were not.
She would have to open her spirit to him.
Setting aside whether she would agree.
If anything went wrong during soul detox, her consciousness would tangle, the inner power would slip loose, and that would be a mess.
True, the Lu Ancestor could help bear and split that power during detox.
But that plan was like Hua Tuo telling Cao Cao his headache required trepanning. The Green Dragon King would likely flip and attack the moment he heard it.
After all, from the king’s subtle expression, it was clear this woman was not his sister at all.
