“Veronica, the prairie barbarians have crossed the Harriman Mountains. If no support is given, don’t blame me for abandoning the entire defense line!”

In the Gregg Cathedral, the God of Night, Conner, angrily slammed the table.

However, the gods of the Karman Pantheon showed indifference.

“Conner, don’t forget our agreement! What, you just want the benefits without responsibilities?” The Goddess of Wisdom, Veronica, said with mockery.

The prairie barbarians Conner mentioned reside in the northeastern region of the Azaea Continent—on the North Aezia Plains.

It is situated between the Snowfield tribes and the Karman United Republic, ruled by the Prairie God.

The Karman gods allowed the God of Night to preach in the Karman United Republic, primarily to use the Land of Eternal Night to restrain the prairie tribes.

—That is, once the prairie tribes attack the Karman United Republic, the Harriman Preaching Area under the God of Night will be the first to bear the brunt.

To preserve the Harriman Preaching Area, the Land of Eternal Night, under the ambit of the God of Night, will inevitably leverage its geographical advantage to harass the prairie rear, thus achieving a restraining effect.

“Don’t play dumb with me; my Raun Preaching Area has been attacked. Where’s the power to contain the Prairie God? I warn you, if Harriman collapses, you won’t have it easy!” The God of Night was furious.

“Conner, it’s not that I don’t want to support you, but my preaching area has also been threatened, making it impossible to spare any forces!”

The Goddess of Luck spread her hands, showing helplessness.

The gods each voiced their own difficulties.

For a moment, the expression of the God of Night, Conner, darkened.

When the Underworld God attacked the Kewell Empire, the Karman gods were overjoyed, calling it a dog-eat-dog fight!

No one expected that the Four Main Gods would turn and fiercely attack the Underworld God, not only relieving the siege of Quever but also triggering a chaotic battle across the multiverse.

It’s important to know that since the Five Prime Gods formed an alliance, the gods have been continually expanding and encroaching upon the multiverse.

The gods have to become defensively passive.

Now, with infighting among the Five Gods, the suppressed gods are naturally seizing the opportunity to expand their preaching areas, aiming to gain the upper hand in future situations.

The multiverse has practically gone mad.

The preaching area of the God of Night in the Raun dimension suffered from this and had to divert forces to defend against enemies.

    Clearly, this attack was purposeful.

His forces had barely been diverted when the Prairie God struck, catching him off guard.

While there are forces in the Land of Eternal Night, he dared not deploy them for fear it was a lure to draw him away from home.

Even someone who has lived for thousands of years like him lost his judgment in such chaos.

Because the gods are too cunning.

An ally today, an enemy tomorrow; it’s too common.

“Fine! Since all of you are abandoning me, I can only abandon the Harriman defense line!” The God of Night threatened.

“Is that so? Then go ahead!” The Goddess of Wisdom remained indifferent.

If the defense line is abandoned, the Karman United Republic suffers, but the God of Night suffers the most.

    The prairie barbarians are disgusting.

Once they get in, they will leave nothing and plunder everything like locusts.

After the battle, even if Harriman saves its core city, it’ll be ruined.

Of course, the Karman gods weren’t ignoring the dying but the current state of affairs truly couldn’t spare any forces.

The Kewell Empire with its vast military forces has been inactive.

Who knows if the prairie god’s attack on Harriman was pre-discussed with the Internet God, planning a pincer attack to divide the Karman United Republic?

    “What?”

The Goddess of Wisdom suddenly turned her head to the meeting room door.

    “Knock knock!”

Knocking sounded at the door of the meeting room.

“Goddess, the envoy of the Internet God asks for an audience!” A report came from the priest outside.

The Karman gods couldn’t help but look at each other.

    “Announce them!”

The Goddess of Wisdom squinted her eyes.

    “Creak!”

With the sound of a door opening, a middle-aged magician stepped confidently into the meeting room.

He glanced at the gods present, his pupils slightly contracting, and with a smile, he placed a hand over his chest: “Detwi under the Internet God greets the Goddess of Wisdom, the Goddess of Luck, the Goddess of Joy, the God of Night, and the God of Fear!”

The previously noisy Karman gods now stared at Detwi without expression.

The Goddess of Wisdom said coldly: “The Internet God hasn’t attacked the Underworld God? Why send you here?”

“The great Internet God, merciful and compassionate, sent me to relieve your worries!” smiled Detwi.

“Relieve our worries? Hahaha…” The Goddess of Wisdom widened her eyes, immediately mocking with hearty laughter.

The Karman gods showed disgust and sarcasm.

The Internet God has such nerve to make such a statement!  Detwi remained smiling despite the laughter, but there was a glint of disdain in his eyes.

“Oh? Let’s hear how the Internet God plans to relieve our worries,” the God of Night said, feeling a stir inside.

    Whether true or false?

Rather an overt plot or hidden conspiracy?  Listening incurs no loss.

“The great Internet God heard your nation was attacked by the prairie barbarians, deeply worried, so opened the faction system within the [Conquest Sub-Dimension]. By paying negligible Source Essence, magic, or a little gold, the Fourth Calamity or even Kewell magicians can be hired to assist you.”

“What?” The Karman gods were stunned.

They instinctively frowned and manipulated their soul puppets to log into the [Conquest Sub-Dimension] to investigate.

What they found was shocking, inducing disbelief.

The God of Night stared intently at Detwi, asking, “Gold too?”

“Of course! But only if the Internet Bank is allowed to set up branches in your preaching areas.”

“Ha! How’s that different from establishing a church?” The Goddess of Wisdom sarcastically criticized.

“There’s a difference. The great Internet God never preaches; bank branches are merely for convenient cash settlements!”

“The Internet God considers us fools?” The God of Fear rasped.

“For the great Internet God, the Internet itself is a church, so why establish churches?” Detwi calmly revealed a terrible truth.

Upon hearing this, the Karman gods surprisingly quieted.

    Yet, the atmosphere remained oppressive.

The Karman gods’ eyes wandered, seemingly having a silent conversation.

Detwi thought for a moment and softly said, “Let me share some unfortunate news. The Prairie God has just decided to officially hire the Fourth Calamity!”

“What did you say?” The Karman gods were shocked.

“The Internet God is playing us?” The God of Night raged, and the once brightly lit meeting room plunged into darkness, visibility lost.

In the darkness, something terrifying seemed to set its sights on Detwi.

Possibly an illusion, but Detwi felt the moist, foul breath on his face.

That was the smell of death!  His smile froze, and reason compelled him to suppress his magical impulses.

Knowing that before gods, his magical skill was negligible.

Now it depended on if they dared to risk offending the Internet God by killing him!

    Detwi bet they wouldn’t dare!

[Meanwhile, in the sacred tent of the North Aezian Plains, another envoy from the Internet God, Belok, is saying something similar to the Prairie God: ‘Great Prairie God, I just received news that the God of Night has decided to officially hire the Fourth Calamity!’]

“Good! Well then! If it’s about setting up bank branches, can it be just outside the city?” The God of Night choked with laughter, a voice echoing from the darkness.

“Of course! But not more than thirty kilometers from the city.”

    “Very well, approved!”

The God of Night’s voice carried authority, but he swallowed his pride.

The darkness of the meeting room faded.

    The gods’ faces were uncertain.

“This was a wise choice.” Detwi was internally pleased, again placing a hand over his chest and nodding.

Next, after leaving specific contact methods, he prepared to leave.

Unexpectedly, the Goddess of Wisdom suddenly stopped him.

    “Wait!”

Detwi halted urgently, turned, placed his hand over his chest again, and listened respectfully.

“I’m curious; how did the Internet God persuade the Four Main Gods to attack the Underworld God?”

    Chapter Summary

The God of Night, Conner, in the Gregg Cathedral, demands support from the Karman gods against an incoming threat from the prairie barbarians. Despite their indifference and his subsequent threats to abandon defense lines, they remain passive due to their own vulnerabilities and previous conflicts in the multiverse. Suddenly, Detwi, an envoy from the Internet God, offers aid through a sub-dimension system for a cost. The Karman gods are initially skeptical, reflecting on the Internet God's motives, but eventually accept. Meanwhile, a similar offer is presented to the Prairie God by another envoy, Belok.
