Chapter Index

“Yanyan, I just encountered a really interesting senior in the bathroom.”

Tang Lin returned to the office and as soon as she entered, she started chattering non-stop with her best friend. After all, working at the general office was too boring, it seemed like anything was worth talking about.

“Are you sure it was a senior and not a senior sister?”

Tang Lin looked stunned for a moment: “I misspoke, I ran into him in the sink area outside the bathroom, not inside the bathroom.”

“I thought you encountered a pervert, you scared me.”

At the window seat, Hong Yan couldn’t help but tease, continuing to organize the documents in her hands.

She had been at the general office for three days already. Her main job was to do initial screening of various entrepreneurship applications and review some of the business plans. The work wasn’t tiring but it was rather tedious. If you stayed too long it would feel dull.

But fortunately her new best friend was a lively and active person which kept her from getting too bored.

“Xiao Tang, bring me the newspaper on the coffee table.”

Professor Yan’s voice came through the door.

    “Coming professor!”

Tang Lin put down the application form in her hand, took the newspaper and walked into the office.

The afternoon sunlight was bright and warm but when it slanted in through the window it was always so dazzling you couldn’t keep your eyes open. Hong Yan walked over wanting to close the curtains when she suddenly heard the door open.

“Senior Sister Cao, don’t be in a hurry to date. The windows in our 207 are still leaking wind. Please grace us with your presence to resolve it.”

Jiang Qin called out Cao Xinyue’s name and strode into the general office. But with one glance he saw the girl standing by the window. His expression froze for a moment. Then he backed out to look at the sign on the door before walking in again.

Hong Yan wasn’t too surprised: “Jiang Qin, long time no see.”

“Long time no see, why are you in the general office?” Jiang Qin felt astonished.

“Our advisor is Professor Yan’s student. There aren’t enough hands here so the professor told us to come help organize the documents.”

After hearing this, Jiang Qin lowered his voice: “Don’t claim to outsiders that you’re helping. You still need the credits.”

“I know, I definitely need to earn the credits. I can’t take a loss.” Hong Yan couldn’t help but laugh.

    “Is Professor Yan inside?”

    “He is.”

“Then let’s chat another time, I have something a bit urgent here.”

Just as they were speaking, Tang Lin came out of Professor Yan’s office: “Oh, senior you’re here?”

“Mm, work hard, don’t slack off.” Jiang Qin instructed then entered the office.

Tang Lin watched him go in then quietly lowered her voice: “Yanyan, this is the senior I ran into in the bathroom. Interesting right?”

Hong Yan looked a bit surprised: “He told you he’s a senior?”

“No, but someone who can apply for a classroom here to do a project can’t possibly be a new freshman like us right?”

“Linlin, I told you that you have no eye. He is a freshman.”

Tang Lin blinked in surprise: “You two know each other?”

“Mm, we know each other.” Hong Yan didn’t stop working.

“Don’t tell me he’s another former pursuer. Heavens, I’ve already seen several this week. Truly when it rains it pours. Yanyan, leave a few for us!”

Hong Yan’s fingers paused slightly: “Okay, I’ll leave them all to you. Take your pick.”

Tang Lin snorted, thinking the guys who liked Hong Yan all had exceptionally high standards, how could it be her turn. “That senior just now is pretty good. Out of the many pursuing you, he’s only a bit handsome. I’ll choose this one. Leave the good ones for yourself.”

“Ugh, I advise you to give up on that idea.” Hong Yan shook her head helplessly.

Her best friend couldn’t even get an average guy, yet turned around and set her sights on her male god. Thinking of this, Hong Yan’s mood couldn’t help but feel a bit at a loss, even her actions slowed a bit.

    ……

“Professor Yan, I have a small matter I’d like your help with.”

Jiang Qin walked into Professor Yan’s office and got straight to the point without beating around the bush.

    “What matter?”

Professor Yan was wearing reading glasses reading the paper. As soon as he saw Jiang Qin enter, he set the newspaper aside.

“I want to go promote the forum at the University of Science and Technology. I need you to write me a letter of introduction.”

“Sit down first, pour yourself some tea.”

Perhaps because he had a soft spot for former students, Professor Yan had always been very supportive of Jiang Qin’s entrepreneurial project. So as soon as he heard Jiang Qin wanted to promote at another school, the old professor wrote a letter of introduction without a word and even stamped it with his personal seal.

“Zhang Mingan at University of Science and Technology used to be my student. Go find him first. Go through him to contact the relevant person in charge at that university.” Professor Yan instructed.

Jiang Qin acknowledged then unfolded the letter to take a look: “Professor, could you slightly revise a few words for me?”

“Are there places where the wording is inaccurate?” Professor Yan looked puzzled.

“No, it’s just that a few words don’t sound good. No, it’s not a few. Actually it’s just one.”

    “Which word?”

“I feel ‘entrepreneurial promotion project’ doesn’t sound good. Could you change it to ‘work-study program’ for me?”

Professor Yan wasn’t an old fool. He immediately understood Jiang Qin’s sneaky intentions: “Kid, you still want to take advantage of the name? Have the University of Science and Technology arrange project support for you too?”

Jiang Qin smacked his lips: “I’m just saying, if you feel it’s inappropriate then forget it.”

    “……”

“I can help you write it but if you really want to do a work-study project, it can’t be in name only. You have to do something real.”

“I know, I absolutely won’t just take advantage without fulfilling my obligations. I’ll have people recruit a few impoverished students into my team later. Professor, don’t worry.” Jiang Qin thumped his chest resoundingly.

Professor Yan pondered for a while and finally decided to agree to his request.

Jiang Qin respectfully handed over the letter of introduction and even picked up the pen to hand to the professor.

Then Professor Yan took out a new sheet of paper and rewrote a copy, comparing the contents.

After getting the new letter of introduction, Jiang Qin instantly felt the responsibility on his shoulders was greater.

Of course, his smile was also more obvious.

If he only promoted the forum under the guise of entrepreneurship, the University of Science and Technology might not object for the sake of Professor Yan’s face but also wouldn’t give much support.

After all, it wasn’t their school’s project. Allowing it to exist was already giving enough face. How could they also help promote it?

But if it was promoted under the name of a work-study program, that would be different.

The four words “work-study program” sounded very ordinary but on the school level, it carried a lot of weight.

Once the University of Science and Technology agreed, this would become a joint project between the two schools. Not only could their director not oppose it, they would have to open the doors of convenience.

“Thank you professor, I will not fail the mission!”

“No need to brag in front of me. Remember to implement the four words ‘work-study program’.”

After speaking, Professor Yan couldn’t help but sigh. If his student back then had half of Jiang Qin’s tricks and unscrupulousness, his painstakingly built project wouldn’t have fallen through in the end.

You have to admit, there is a world of difference between entrepreneurs.

Some people, they are born with the vision and foresight to stir up heaven and earth.

Holding the letter of introduction, Jiang Qin left Professor Yan’s office in high spirits. On his way out, he exchanged a few more pleasantries with Hong Yan.

Tang Lin watched their conversation, feeling surprised. Her best friend had many suitors, just the international trade department was full of them. But she rarely saw her friend speak in such a gentle tone with such a radiant smile.

Mm, it seemed this suitor had a bit of a chance. Roughly estimating, he had about a 35% shot.

    ……

After leaving the general office, Jiang Qin came to Room 208. Before he even entered, he heard a burst of lively chatter.

Su Nai, Lu Xuemei, Shi Miaomiao and five or six others were leaning over the table studying something, their tones all excited, chirping more noisily than the sparrows outside the window.

    “What are you all doing?”

Su Nai turned her head at the sound: “Boss, the photo book from the last team building was printed. Xuemei brought it back on her way to Shengshi.”

“Really? Let me see.” Jiang Qin couldn’t help but feel a bit curious.

Team cohesion isn’t something that lasts forever after one team building event. It’s a consumable. Especially in the midst of tedious daily work, as soon as conflict arises, that cohesion disappears.

So Jiang Qin specifically had Lu Xuemei bring a camera to the rural resort to take lots of photos which were then made into books, one for each person.

Taking it out to look at from time to time also had a certain strengthening effect on team cohesion.

Jiang Qin flipped to the next page and saw a photo of him and the little rich girl at the entrance of the rural resort. The two were directly facing the camera, one coolly aloof, the other casual and frivolous.

However, Feng Nanshu’s gaze was shifting a bit towards him, probably because the shutter was pressed late.

    But…

    Inexplicably good-looking.

He was indeed devastatingly handsome. Even Feng Nanshu with her top-tier looks couldn’t resist, her eyes unwilling to leave him for even a second.

“Where’s the copy for your boss’s wife?” Jiang Qin came back to his senses and looked at Lu Xuemei.

Lu Xuemei let out an “ah”, her eyes freezing a bit: “I printed it based on the trip list. Seems I forgot…”

“Not bad Lu Xuemei, your conscience is only the size of a peanut? She bought you all such expensive fruit and you forgot about her? Tsk tsk, don’t even think about having any future prospects!”

“Sorry boss, I’ll go to Shengshi again now and have them print another copy!” Lu Xuemei felt her conscience ache.

“Forget it, take my copy and give it to her.”

Jiang Qin handed over the photo album in his hand. He had been shuttling between Linchuan University and University of Science and Technology recently without any time to accompany Feng Nanshu. This girl was probably very lonely. She would definitely be happy to see the photo album.

But he didn’t have time to deliver it himself because he had just gotten the letter of introduction and was anxious to go find Director Liu at the University of Science and Technology.

After Jiang Qin left, Lu Xuemei suddenly remembered something. She immediately flipped the photo album to the third to last page and showed it to Su Nai, Shi Miaomiao and the others beside her.

The image in this photo was pitch-black, the lighting not very good, but a very large tree could be seen, its crown lush beyond compare.

And in the center of the frame, slightly below, there was a figure climbing up, looking like a black bear, a sign in hand, laboriously hanging it on a tree branch.

“Holy crap, the boss went to the relationship tree in the middle of the night?” Su Nai understood with one glance, “How did you capture it?”

Lu Xuemei was incredibly smug: “I originally wanted to take photos of the night sky. As soon as I went out the door I saw the boss sneakily walking towards the relationship tree so I followed.”

Shi Miaomiao couldn’t help covering her mouth to giggle: “The boss is so weird. He seems like such a mature and steady person yet he also believes in this relationship tree thing. Normally he’s all about friends, friends, simply lying through his teeth.”

“He’s just very superstitious. Before when we held an event in the front plaza, he even talked to me about feng shui. Left me completely dumbfounded.”

    “Really?”

Shi Miaomiao couldn’t help but speak: “The boss is from Jizhou right? My grandma is also from there. I heard the people there are indeed rather feudal and superstitious.”

“Mm, so he dares to deceive us, dares to deceive himself, but doesn’t dare deceive the gods.” Lu Xuemei stated with certainty.

Hearing this, everyone couldn’t help but glance at the God of Wealth on the opposite table, as well as the money tree beside the table, then nodded in strong agreement.
