Chapter Index

It was a bitterly cold dawn, the wind howling outside.

Jiang Qin put on his clothes, rubbed his hands together and left the dormitory. Looking around, the campus was completely empty and even the air had a harsh, cold edge to it.

“Dododo, dododo, the cold wind will freeze me to death, tomorrow I’ll build a nest.”

Jiang Qin walked towards the entrepreneurship base, his mouth full of rhymes, but halfway there, his old Nokia started vibrating non-stop in his pocket.

Jiang Qin pretended not to hear it.

The damn weather was too cold and he didn’t want to take his hands out of his sleeves.

If it only rang for ten seconds or so before hanging up, it meant it wasn’t anything urgent. He could go to the entrepreneurship base to warm up a bit before returning the call.

But who knew the phone would keep vibrating, forcing Jiang Qin to finally answer it.

    “Hello?”

“Jiang Qin, latest notice, Principal Zhang will be visiting you in a bit.” Lü Guangrong’s voice came through the receiver.

Jiang Qin stamped his feet as he walked forward, “Didn’t he already come last time? Why is he coming again? There’s no need to be so polite, the things in my office are sufficient for now.”

    “?????”

“Isn’t Principal Zhang coming to deliver some warmth?”

“Deliver what warmth? He’s bringing a study group from four major universities to visit. It’s more formal than last time and facing externally, so you need to take it seriously.”

Jiang Qin was surprised to hear this, “What is there at my place worth studying?”

Old Lü’s voice slowly rang out, “After you appeared in Linchuan Youth Daily, the impact has been quite good in all aspects, so they arranged an exchange study visit. This study group is here to learn about entrepreneurship experiences on the ground.”

“Alright, I understand. I guarantee they’ll be so impressed they won’t want to leave.”

Jiang Qin snorted coldly and hung up the phone, stamping his feet as he entered the entrepreneurship base.

Originally he had planned to gather everyone for a meeting today to discuss follow-up marketing and increasing new user registrations, but due to the study group’s visit, this matter could only be postponed until the afternoon. As for the morning, he intended to spend it all on a major cleaning.

After a round of intensive launches and marketing for the group buying platform, the employees of Room 208 were all feeling a bit of roller-coaster fatigue.

To put it simply, they had pushed themselves too hard the past few days and were a bit out of sorts recently. Doing some housework now was a good way to refresh their minds.

“Principal Zhang is coming to visit again, everyone quickly tidy up.”

Jiang Qin clapped his hands as he entered Room 208.

As soon as he finished speaking, Dong Wenhao picked up his computer and was about to run out, while Lu Feiyu stepped on the table to unscrew a light bulb, infuriating Jiang Qin to spit.

“Damn, have some integrity will you? We’re not scamming anyone this time!”

    “Then what do we do?”

“Group cleaning, make the office neat and tidy. Most of the visitors are from other schools, so straighten your spines. Flaunt wealth, not poverty. Take out all the best things and put them on display.”

Jiang Qin directed everyone to clean the office until it was spotless. He even moved the potted plants from Room 207 and placed them along the wall.

Around 11am, Zhang Boqing led the study group from the four universities and arrived in full force.

Among them, eight walking in front based on their appearance and age seemed to be the lead teachers from the other three schools. Behind them followed over a dozen students, each wearing name tags from their respective schools.

“Teachers and students, this is Room 208. You can look around freely first and get a feel for the atmosphere.”

Zhang Boqing gave them a simple introduction, then pulled Jiang Qin aside, “Didn’t you say you wouldn’t do group buying even if beaten? What’s with the delivery staff on campus?”

Jiang Qin calmly replied, “That’s online retail, not group buying.”

“Don’t try to fool me, you think I can’t tell just because you changed the name?”

Jiang Qin chuckled foolishly, “I’m sorry Principal, I admit there’s an element of gambling to it, but based on the current results, the effect is not bad. As long as I’m not reckless, it will definitely be stable.”

Zhang Boqing smiled coldly, “Fine, as long as you receive the study group well today and give the school some glory, I won’t make trouble for you.”

“That’s too easy, I’ve prepared the study group’s delightful three-piece set.”

    “?”

Jiang Qin signaled with his eyes and Wei Lanlan immediately nodded. Together with Wen Jinrui, they brought out a stack of things.

Company brochures, team building photo books, delicious snacks.

In fact, outsiders visiting really couldn’t see anything useful. It’s not like you could open up the backend data for them to see, and even if you did, they might not necessarily understand it.

So what they could really look at were just the photos and introductory manuals, plus filling their stomachs with snacks.

“Look, they really made it quite realistic, even having staff badges.”

“It’s quite interesting, but why is there a bear climbing a tree in the team building photos?”

“Doesn’t seem to be a bear?”

“Looks like a person, not sure, let me see again.”

“Wow, why is this girl so pretty?”

    “Too exquisite, definitely Photoshopped.”

After taking a rough look around, the entrepreneurship directors from the University of Technology, Sun Chunming, and the Normal University, Li Hua, nodded approvingly one after another, then turned to Zhang Boqing with lingering interest and had a long discussion.

“Principal Zhang, the atmosphere of 208 is indeed quite good, but we still want to see their normal working state.”

“Yes, and take a few photos of them working to write the report later.”

After hearing this, Zhang Boqing nodded and called Jiang Qin over, who was sharing his entrepreneurial experience with female university students, “Director Sun and Director Li want to see 208’s working state. How you normally do things is how you should do it now.”

Jiang Qin pursed his lips, thinking to himself that normally he swore all the time, how could he let them study such core trade secrets?

“Let’s eat first. It just so happens they can experience my new project, how about that?”

“You arrange it as you see fit, everything is for the sake of giving the school face.” Zhang Boqing lowered his voice and urged.

Jiang Qin nodded and immediately started promoting his group buying to the study group, letting the teachers and students from other schools experience the joy of ordering food online.

He had been considering this matter since before the study group arrived. With live targets delivered to his doorstep, he had to take a few bites even if he shouldn’t.

The mindset of a businessman is like this – not picking up money you come across is the same as losing it.

In the future, group buying would definitely enter the four major universities. Since he had to make contact in advance, he had to leave a deep impression on them.

    Why?

Because although he had Professor Yan’s letter of introduction, after all there was no guide like Zhang Mingan in the University of Technology and Normal University, so it was still unknown how useful Professor Yan’s face would be.

In this situation, letting these teachers in charge of entrepreneurship at the other schools gain some understanding of group buying first would naturally give it a sense of familiarity when promoting it later.

Ten minutes later, the delivery staff Tian Xiaojia pedaled furiously all the way, bringing all the study group’s orders.

“Delivery to the door can be this fast?”

A female university student with a ponytail in the study group was very shocked.

“This is already considered slow. Normally it arrives in three minutes. Next time I’ll severely criticize them!”

Jiang Qin replied with a smile, thinking to himself that he had specially asked Wei Lanlan to call and request urgent delivery, otherwise how could it be so fast?

“Really impressive, if this is promoted at our school, I can eat without even leaving my dorm?”

The ponytailed girl said merrily, inadvertently acting as Jiang Qin’s shill for a moment, drawing praises from the teachers from the other schools.

“The University of Technology and Normal University are both part of our future promotion plans. When the time comes, we will definitely require the help of the directors, teachers, and students.”

Jiang Qin replied with a grin, glancing at the ponytailed girl’s name tag.

Yan Lu, of the same family as Professor Yan. Seems those surnamed Yan were all benefactors on his entrepreneurial path.

After everyone finished a simple lunch, Jiang Qin gathered all the employees of 208 for a meeting. On one hand it was to demonstrate their working state, on the other he indeed had tasks to assign.

The people in the study group immediately perked up and started finding places to listen in.

    “Ahem…”

“Principal, do you want to say a few words first?”

Zhang Boqing shook his head and gestured with his hands for him to start performing.

Jiang Qin didn’t stand on ceremony. He sat in the boss’s chair and directly entered the role of a coldly domineering, unrivaled, handsome boss.

“Our first wave of the Debut Deal Day ended three days ago. Currently the traffic for group buying has stabilized, but the registration numbers are insufficient, so we need to carry out a second round of marketing called the Dorm Stocking Festival.”

Jiang Qin wrote five characters on the blackboard, “The rules are simple. Every four people can form a dorm team and enjoy 20% off the entire store, but if purchasing individually, the original prices still apply.”

Su Nai raised her hand, “Boss, Linchuan University also has six-person dorms and single dorms for international students.”

Jiang Qin shook his head, “We won’t consider the foreigners for now, but if we set the threshold at six people, it undoubtedly raises the difficulty of forming teams. What about the four-person dorms then? So we’ll go with the lowest threshold.”

“The Debut Deal Day also seemed to have a 20% discount, what’s the difference?”

“There’s no difference for the consumers, but a big difference for the platform. The Debut Deal Day targeted registered users with the goal of letting them experience placing orders. But the Dorm Stocking Festival targets unregistered users. These people are not sensitive to new things and have no interest in discounts. They can only be pulled in by people. The purpose of forming teams is actually to get old users to bring in new ones.”

Su Nai had a sudden realization, “I get it. As long as there is one group buying user in the dorm, in order to get the 20% discount they will pull the other people in the dorm to form a team.”

    “You’re so smart Su Nai.”

“Really?” Su Nai was very happy.

Jiang Qin nodded, “Before, you never understood the purpose of the events even after they were over. Now you understand them before they even start. You’ve truly grown robustly.”

    Su Nai: “…”

At the same time, in the back of the office, the people in the study group couldn’t help but start whispering.

To be honest, before the meeting started, their impression of 208 was similar to other entrepreneurial projects. They felt it was just so-so, without any particularly outstanding points.

The office was a bit bigger, had more people, and they made a seemingly professional company manual.

But when the meeting truly began, they discovered that the aura of the 208 employees had all changed, becoming incomparably focused.

And that Jiang Qin who was hosting the meeting, just now he still had a face full of frivolous smiles, but in an instant he seemed to transform into a different person, with a hint of sharpness revealed.

This kind of scene wouldn’t be at all surprising in some formal company, but appearing in a university startup team, it was a bit thought-provoking.

“Director Li, what do you think?”

“That Jiang Qin, the purpose of his every step is very precise. Doesn’t seem like he’s messing around.”
