Chapter Index

    The winter solstice has arrived.

Early in the morning snowflakes were falling and the cold penetrated deeply.

Ren Ziqiang jumped out of bed babbling about the cafeteria selling dumplings today and calling for the whole dorm to go eat together.

Jiang Qin had planned dumplings with hotpot for Room 208 this evening but he couldn’t skip eating during the day plus he did feel a bit hungry so he simply went along with them.

But the dumplings sold by the cafeteria were really difficult to describe in words.

Taking a bite the spicy fragrance of the ingredients was very strong but you oddly couldn’t taste any meat flavor at all there was quite a lot of broth in the filling but while greasy it actually impacted the chewiness texture.

“Ptooey even dogs wouldn’t eat this isn’t this just the frozen kind? And they still have the nerve to call them handmade dumplings?”

Cao Guangyu threw down his chopsticks with a look of disgust.

“Brother Cao if you think it’s gross just say it’s gross why do you have to say even dogs wouldn’t eat it?”

Zhou Chao had half a dumpling in his chopsticks not sure whether to eat it or toss it his face was as black as a pot bottom.

“It’s not bad to have something to eat with so many students at Linchuan University the cafeteria aunties would need the arms of a qilin to make you pure handmade dumplings but handmade boiled counts as handmade a classic marketing strategy.”

Jiang Qin cut to the heart of the matter in one sentence and took the chance to shovel two more dumplings into his mouth not minding Cao Guangyu’s mockery at all.

He didn’t have overly strict requirements for taste feeling that filling the stomach was enough for people as picky as Old Cao either they had grown up well-fed and clothed or they had too many trivial issues since childhood.

This bad habit was easy to cure just throw them into the mountains and let them starve for a few days.

After emptying the plate of dumplings Jiang Qin turned his head to look at the scattered snowflakes falling outside the window but didn’t see many snowflakes instead seeing several girls from Financial Class 3 walking towards them.

In the very front were the three golden flowers Song Qingqing Jiang Tian and Jian Chun followed by the two green leaves Pan Xiu and Liu Xiaojuan.

Last was Zhuang Chen carrying a bag and milk tea.

After the two groups met except for Ren Ziqiang and Pan Xiu the “siblings” who had parted ways the remaining eight people very naturally greeted each other.

“Notice how the four guys in our class seem to have all turned into cool aloof male gods.”

Liu Xiaojuan found a place to sit and said in a lowered voice.

Song Qingqing raised an eyebrow “Jiang Qin was already a male god does he need to turn into one?”

“Cao Guangyu seems to have found a girlfriend too a senior sister in the medical school.”

Zhuang Chen showed off some gossip he had trying to shift the topic away from Jiang Qin.

“Zhou Chao hasn’t changed he’s just getting fatter and fatter.”

“Ren Ziqiang is so aloof now he doesn’t even talk he didn’t greet us just now…”

As her voice trailed off everyone couldn’t help glancing at Pan Xiu only to see Pan Xiu pursing her lips looking upset.

Starting from early last month Ren Ziqiang stopped acknowledging her whether in class or running into each other completely treating her like a stranger.

Pan Xiu didn’t know what she did wrong either she asked him for several days but didn’t receive a single reply.

She wasn’t the same as pretty girls there weren’t many who liked her so losing one made a big difference so now she was full of resentment and her mood turned sour as soon as she heard Ren Ziqiang’s name.

“You guys were talking about making dumplings do you think Jiang Qin would have a way?”

Just as everyone fell silent Jian Chun who had been quiet the whole time suddenly spoke.

Jiang Tian was startled but after thinking carefully her eyes lit up “You’re right if it’s him he’ll definitely have a way!”

“Based on what he’s not a magical being can he do everything?” Zhuang Chen couldn’t help interjecting sarcastically.

Jian Chun ignored him turning to Jiang Tian “Tiantian why don’t you go ask?”

    “Why don’t you go?”

“Jiang Qin probably hates me a lot if I ask he definitely won’t agree.” Jian Chun’s gaze couldn’t help dimming a few degrees.

Jiang Qin had just finished eating at this time and was taking his tray to the return area but hadn’t walked a few steps before Jiang Tian called out to him “Jiang Qin can I ask you a favor?”

    “What favor?”

“We want to find a place to make a meal of dumplings.”

Although the winter solstice wasn’t a legal holiday it still carried quite a bit of weight in Linchuan tradition otherwise the school cafeteria wouldn’t temporarily shut down five windows just to sell dumplings.

Of course there were also many students who wanted to make dumplings with friends to celebrate the winter solstice.

It’s just a pity that all the dorms at Linchuan University had power-limited outlets making dumplings was possible but boiling them would trip the circuit breaker even installing a transformer was useless with that set power limit they probably couldn’t boil them through in one night.

Jiang Qin thought for a bit “Actually the cafeteria dumplings are pretty good just make do with eating those.”

“Besides eating them ourselves we also want to send some handmade boiled dumplings to Granny Liu at the fruit stall.”

Jian Chun couldn’t help standing up to add her tone inexplicably tense “I…I bumped into her last time and she didn’t even blame me I want to do what I can she’s busy watching the stall and taking care of her son with no time to make dumplings.”

After pondering for a moment Jiang Qin said “Can’t you guys just secretly find a classroom?”

“We went to look the study rooms have people the lecture halls aren’t open the small classrooms are easy to get caught in and…the cadre group chat just sent a notice strictly forbidding students from boiling dumplings or eating hotpot in classrooms.”

    “…”

“We won’t take too much time.”

Jiang Tian’s implication was wanting to borrow a spot in 208 if Jiang Qin agreed she could justifiably have Jiang Qin try her handmade dumplings.

Although Jian Chun tried to force herself not to think about it as soon as the thought of Jiang Qin eating dumplings she made herself flashed through her mind her heart also started pounding a bit in anticipation.

But unfortunately 208 was also making dumplings over a dozen people it was messy enough already not to mention Professor Yan and the others were there too.

Jiang Qin didn’t want to bring another group to add to the chaos so he took out his phone and called Zhu Feng asking if he could borrow a classroom to boil some dumplings to eat.

After a while he hung up and Jiang Qin’s voice rang out again.

“Our college has a handicraft club in B704 it was just deregistered a while ago and the activity classroom has been empty the whole time you guys go there Zhu Feng will leave the key on the windowsill in a bit.”

“Oh right make sure to pay attention to electrical safety plug and unplug as you go and clean up before you leave.”

“Also do me a favor prepare a portion of dumplings for Zhu Feng and Old Lü I’ll give you another address help me deliver a portion to Dean Zhang in the campus office too tell them I made these myself if they’re not there then forget it.”

Jiang Qin put away his phone after a few instructions and heard Cao Guangyu calling from behind so he turned and walked out of the cafeteria.

Seeing this Jian Chun and Jiang Tian couldn’t help exchanging a glance breathing hitching a little.

Oh my god the person who sent the notice saying boiling dumplings and eating hotpot wasn’t allowed in classrooms was clearly Zhu Feng!

She said in previous years there were often this kind of student who thought they were so amazing if caught not only would points be deducted but they’d be fined no matter who it was absolutely no leniency!

Jiang Qin directly asked her for a classroom to boil dumplings obviously charging towards the barrel of a gun but Zhu Feng actually agreed?

“We can really boil dumplings in a classroom?”

“Impossible Zhu Feng just sent a notice in the group chat!”

“Let’s not eat anymore let’s go see what’s up first?”

After a while the few of them arrived at B704 apprehensively feeling the window and sure enough found a key.

Although they knew it was the key left by the student council president they still felt a bit guilty like thieves even the motion of opening the door was tiny not daring to make a sound when going in either.

But right at this moment footsteps sounded outside the door making everyone’s hearts leap to their throats.

Zhu Feng arrived at the door expressionlessly glancing inside scaring Jiang Tian and the others so much they didn’t dare breathe.

    “Do you have a pot?”

“N…not yet we haven’t gone to buy one.” Jiang Tian answered truthfully.

Zhu Feng coughed lowering her voice “I have an electric pot in my office for heating rice usually if you want to use it come with me to get it.”

Jian Chun was dazed for a while before coming back to her senses feeling overwhelmingly flattered “I’ll go get it with you thank you senior sister.”

“No need to thank me if Jiang Qin hadn’t specially called me I absolutely would not have allowed something like this you guys don’t talk about it at all after you go back also be careful when boiling the dumplings.”

“Okay senior sister we’ll make sure to close the door tight and not make a single sound.”

Jian Chun followed Zhu Feng out of the classroom halfway couldn’t help speaking up “Senior sister didn’t you say catching this would mean deducting points and fines? Will it cause trouble for you?”

Zhu Feng glanced at her “I owed Jiang Qin a favor from before when gathering sponsorships for the debate competition but he didn’t seem to have anywhere he needed me to repay it consider it repaid with this you remember to let him know when you go back.”

    “Okay senior sister.”

Zhu Feng pursed her lips adding another sentence “Make sure to tell him and mention me lending you guys the electric pot.”

    “Oh oh.”

After a while Jian Chun returned to B704 with the electric pot everyone waiting inside all looked at each other.

    This was Jiang Qin’s influence.

A few words borrowed a classroom to do something explicitly forbidden and even got a pot to go with it this was way too cool.

Thinking back to the scene of Jiang Qin making the call expressionlessly just now it truly embodied what was meant by a cool aloof male god of few words.

“Holy crap when Zhu Feng came my scalp went numb I didn’t expect her to ask if we wanted a pot?”

“Jiang Qin truly lives up to being my male god using back doors is so joyful!”

“I’ve never seen Zhu Feng give anyone face…”

Hearing everyone’s astonished comments Zhuang Chen standing in the back felt very uncomfortable.

Jian Chun wanted to do something he had no way of making happen but some other guy was able to showing him to be very incompetent and he was indeed incompetent.

    If…

    Let’s just say if.

If the person making the call just now was him what would Jian Chun think?

“Zhu Feng it’s Zhuang Chen get a classroom ready for me I’m going to boil dumplings yes immediately right now and send over a pot too!”

“Jian Chun I made it happen tonight let us spend a joyful winter solstice together!”

After imagining it once Zhuang Chen felt his scalp tingling with excitement even picturing Jian Chun’s worshipful gaze.

But upon returning to reality he felt only emptiness.

Glancing at Jian Chun again she was sharing with Jiang Tian the conversation just now with Zhu Feng a charming smile on her face.

    Chapter Summary

Jiang Qin helped his classmates borrow a classroom and an electric pot to make dumplings for the winter solstice, showing his influence by getting special permission from the strict student council president who had just forbidden it. This left Jian Chun and the other girls very impressed but made Zhuang Chen feel inadequate and resentful.
