Chapter Index

The day after the Linchuan business banquet a heavy snow blanketed all of Linchuan.

Streets buildings the entire world turned into a vast expanse of white.

The temperature which had just risen a few days ago rapidly dropped again like the living expenses in one’s pocket disappearing without a trace catching people off guard.

“Dammit I’m already broke and bought an MP4 player my hand doesn’t even feel like my own!”

“I’m never trusting Zhihu’s recommended items again everything looks so tempting it’s haunting me!”

“They claim to be my family but they’re harsher than my enemies!”

“Well there are benefits too my first time trying to buy a phone online I was worried all day but it really was brand new unopened and over 100 yuan cheaper!”

“I’ve already bought three down jackets online for the same price the quality is way better than in small shops!”

    “…”

At the Wanzhong Mall shipping department Little Ma was hurriedly loading goods into a truck looking a bit nervous.

Because the big boss He Yijun and sales manager Yue Zhu were standing behind him watching.

He thought his scam of stealing gas money had been exposed and was pondering whether to confess and beg for leniency but the temptation to try his luck kept him from opening his mouth.

This feeling was like having a cold and going for a shot with the pretty nurse taking aim but not injecting truly torturous.

But Little Ma didn’t understand with his status he really wasn’t important enough to be personally reprimanded by the big boss.

In other words if his gas money scam was really exposed what would certainly come is a dismissal notice not He Yijun personally bringing Yue Zhu to fire him.

And the reason He Yijun had come here was actually just to observe the online shipping process.

“It seems we indeed underestimated college students’ consumption power.”

“Yes especially in this period after the offline event ended the online sales volume is already approaching offline.” Yue Zhu also felt some emotion.

He Yijun crossed his arms: “This Jiang Qin is truly uncanny to the extreme.”

“President He is this a compliment or an insult?”

“A compliment but… it also represents fear.”

    “Huh?”

He Yijun took a deep breath: “Have you considered if in Linchuan no if online sales models become widespread nationwide how will we shopping malls survive?”

Yue Zhu looked a bit surprised: “If that’s the case won’t our sales volume increase even more?”

“Then what if he chooses to directly partner with manufacturers? Once online sales reduce middlemen profiting from price differences the price advantage will be too great will we still be able to sell our goods?”

“President He that’s impossible right can Jiang Qin really develop his business to that extent?”

He Yijun shook his head with a faint smile: “He went with me to the Linchuan business banquet last night I told him not to ask others for business cards guess what he did?”

Yue Zhu shook her head a hint of confusion flashing in her eyes: “He asked for them?”

“No he set up a business card display board at the entrance to the banquet hall with ‘Linchuan Business Elite Showcase’ written on it even I couldn’t resist sticking one in that’s how he effortlessly obtained all the bosses’ cards isn’t he uncanny?”

    “…”

He Yijun’s smile faded: “Notify all department managers overtime this weekend to study mall reforms we can no longer survive just by selling goods.”

Yue Zhu’s expression instantly turned solemn: “Boss then what should we do?”

“Jiang Qin is about to launch a new service of group buying and in-store pickup have him send me a document we’ll use his ideas to study reform directions otherwise pure retail malls like us will inevitably be abandoned by the times.”

“We’re going to reform our own development direction based on a college student’s plan?”

Yue Zhu felt this was too exaggerated.

So what if he was an academic star?

A student who hasn’t even left campus how could he have the ability to scare the boss into immediate reform.

But she didn’t know He Yijun had already keenly caught the scent knowing even if it wasn’t Jiang Qin someone else would definitely appear.

Like that Boss Ma who ran an online auction site apparently he had already started reforming from C2C towards B2C with astonishing results.

And once this sales model becomes widespread its rampage will certainly be a thunderous fury.

In this situation the retail industry in the mid-market will undoubtedly face unprecedented impact.

They have factory prices and deliver to your door why would consumers bother going to your mall and letting you take a cut?

He Yijun initially hadn’t thought deeply about this always feeling it was too distant.

But when Jiang Qin appeared before his eyes with endless tricks he understood this wasn’t the aura of an academic star but the changing winds of the times.

Using a college student’s development plan to reform his own massive mall.

Yes this notion indeed sounded unreliable.

But if one day this notion started sounding reliable it would truly be too late to reform.

Please lead me to riches President Jiang…

He Yijun couldn’t help but chuckle.

This was just a joke last night but now it seemed more and more real.

    Uncanny damn uncanny!

“Hey President He I already sent you the project document you wanted.”

Ten minutes later Jiang Qin’s call reached He Yijun’s cell phone.

“Many thanks President Jiang.” He Yijun’s voice was full of energy.

Jiang Qin said there was no need for thanks but was puzzled: “What do you want my project document for? This group buying and in-store thing has nothing to do with your mall business.”

“I want to learn from it.”

“Why are you being so humble now I’m just an ordinary college student if we’re talking about learning I should be the one learning from you.”

He Yijun paused for a moment: “President Jiang actually when we first met I always thought you were very flamboyant very unrestrained eager for the whole world to know of your greatness.”

Jiang Qin’s mouth twitched: “I’m still like that now!”

“No you’re not you’re actually the humblest person in this world you have good stuff in your belly but are unwilling to pour it out.”

“President He what hit you? I’m a bit scared.”

He Yijun laughed over the phone: “Just joking but I have another thing are you free Saturday? Bring your girlfriend to my place for a meal.”

The corner of Jiang Qin’s mouth twitched: “Why do I feel like it’s a trap?”

“It’s Manqi she’s clamoring to see her sister Nanshu and I also have some things I want to chat with you about is that okay?”

“Then I can only obey I will definitely bring my good friend.”

    “?????”

After hanging up Jiang Qin couldn’t help but feel a chill on his back forcing him to open the closet and find the blanket he used on Christmas Eve wrapping it around himself for warmth.

He didn’t know if it was psychological but he seemed to still smell that soft elegant fragrance from the little rich girl’s body.

    No that’s not right.

After putting on the bottom line I’m no longer a mortal I can’t touch a hint of worldly desires!

What fragrance it’s all an illusion!

Jiang Qin took a deep breath deciding to calm his mind but the more he inhaled the more fragrant it became truly a dead loop this made him unwittingly recall the Christmas Eve gift.

“Boss why is your face so red do you have a cold?”

Wei Lanlan brought a cup of steaming water and couldn’t help but ask as she passed by.

“It’s nothing maybe the heater I must say our Linchuan University’s heating is excellent next time Dean Zhang comes for an inspection I’ll be sure to praise him.”

Jiang Qin nonchalantly name-dropped Zhang Boqing his expression like that of an upright gentleman not flustered at all.

Then he pulled open the drawer beside him laying out the business cards he collected last night picking out the ones with smaller scale that would be easier to deal with and handed them to Wei Lanlan and Tan Qing.

“I carefully studied them these few small bosses will likely be easier to negotiate you two do some background checks first and take them down one by one later.”

“Are these also members of the Linchuan Chamber of Commerce?” Wei Lanlan picked one up and looked at it.

Jiang Qin nodded: “Yes but they’re also lower-mid level they attended the banquet to find partners too you don’t need to be too cautious just consider it practice.”

“What if the practice goes wrong?”

“Then it means they’re meant to be abandoned by the times.”

Jiang Qin unscrewed his thermos glancing at the ‘dear husband drink more water’ on the bottom quietly moistening his throat.

Group buying and in-store pickup was a plan he had been pondering for half a month starting from the milk tea card on the Winter Solstice the gears had already begun slowly turning.

In other words even without the Linchuan business banquet he definitely would have moved in this direction later but would have taken many detours this banquet’s sudden appearance pushed his plan one step ahead also giving him a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Doing business is like this many opportunities and challenges won’t leave you enough preparation time.

So do you take it or not?

Of course you take it even if you burst.

But group buying currently isn’t large-scale in the eyes of those truly big bosses it’s just a toy lacking sufficient persuasive power in both strength and credibility.

So Jiang Qin decided to catch some small fry first.

A toad has to make do with eating a little swan for now the roc and such can wait until after the New Year.

By then he would swallow the Normal University and University of Technology rapidly radiating to surrounding business districts straightening his back evolving into a golden toad then relying on his gift of gab he would eat a roc.

    This shouldn’t be a problem.

Using Linchuan as a base he would dismantle Zhihu package group buying as a whole and expand outward.

Jiang Qin picked up a pen and jotted down a few keywords on a sticky note sticking it on the top frame of his computer monitor.

“Wenhao how are things at University of Science and Technology?”

Dong Wenhao lifted his head at the sound: “Business has stabilized already making up the initial investment faster than Linchuan University’s pace we should recoup operating costs before the holiday.”

Jiang Qin clicked his tongue: “Tell them not to rush slow and steady why are they going so fast? Are they trying to scare Director Hu into another heart attack during the New Year?”

“Making money can scare him too?”

“He doesn’t care if we make money or not he’s just afraid we’ll run too fast and lose a shoe.”
