Chapter Index

“Jiang Qin, I want to raise a puppy…”

At dusk, Feng Nanshu was sitting by the lake feeling a bit drowsy, her beautiful eyes squinting as she mumbled about wanting a puppy, her entire person muddled to the point of silliness.

She had been on the road since morning and after arriving in Linchuan, had been waiting to meet Jiang Qin.

After lunch, Jiang Qin had taken her for a big loop around the school campus during which she had also stuck out her little butt searching through the school’s bushes for a long time looking for stray dogs.

Under these circumstances, it was about time for the little rich girl to get sleepy.

And experienced people all know, a good foot massage can really put someone to sleep in a second.

Jiang Qin released his grip, freeing her soft little feet, then put her shoes on for her.

“Come on, let’s get you back to the dorm to sleep.”

    “Brother, hold my hand.”

Jiang Qin pulled her up from the boathouse bench, holding her little hand tucked into his pocket, then led her all the way to the female dorms.

Using the word “led” is quite fitting because the little rich girl in her sleepy state really just followed wherever he went.

If you took her away to sell her off, after collecting the money and stuffing it in her hands, she would still count it out for you before groggily handing it back.

“Your eyes can barely stay open, hurry up and go sleep.”

    “Good night, Jiang Qin.”

Feng Nanshu rubbed her eyes with one hand while waving goodbye with the other, watching Jiang Qin disappear into the night before tottering upstairs, to be interrogated by her two gossip-loving roommates.

Five minutes later, Jiang Qin also returned to his dorm.

Tomorrow was the official start of the semester and nearly all the returning college students had arrived, the hallways packed with people fetching water, doing laundry, bragging, smoking and whatnot.

Jiang Qin arrived at dorm 302 and pushed open the door, immediately spotting Cao Guangyu and Zhou Chao chatting while Ren Ziqiang, who had returned at noon, sat honestly at his desk holding a review sheet.

Yes, he had failed a class.

In dorm 302, Jiang Qin who was busy with his business every day hadn’t failed, Cao Guangyu who was in a relationship every day hadn’t failed, Zhou Chao who read novels every day hadn’t failed.

Only Ren Ziqiang had failed a class, his entire being radiating immense resentment.

“Damn it, none of you are good people.”

“Boo hoo, talking about playing strip mahjong, inviting me to read novels together, saying you remember early and forget quickly, in the end I’m the only honest one…”

He grumbled tearfully, suddenly recalling that scene of running into Pan Xiu in the study room before the new year.

At the time, Cao Guangyu didn’t want to study anymore and called him to go to Flying Dragon Internet Cafe.

He had virtuously declared “I need to study”, the vigor, the poise, the very picture of unyielding integrity!

But now, he was the only one in the dorm who had declared his need to study yet still failed, truly embarrassing to the extreme.

    “What’s up with Old Ren?”

    “Failed a class of course.”

Jiang Qin walked over and patted his shoulder: “Don’t be sad Old Ren, I’ll have Old Cao treat you to breakfast tomorrow.”

“Thanks Brother Jiang, you’re the only one who cares about me.” Ren Ziqiang’s tone was very sincere.

Cursing aside, Old Ren still had some self-awareness.

Jiang Qin had Feng Nanshu helping him review, that was indeed enviable, but Cao Guangyu and Zhou Chao had truly started reviewing at the same time as him.

But those two goods had both passed while he alone failed, who was there to blame?

In the end, it came down to his level and efficiency not being enough.

“Old Cao, remember to treat Old Ren to a meal tomorrow, he’s already thanked me.”

Jiang Qin went to the bathroom and when he returned, he casually instructed the very ordinary young master Cao.

    “What the hell, why?”

Cao Guangyu looked dumbfounded, thinking that treating breakfast wasn’t a big deal, a matter of a few bucks he could afford, but how come the one paying was him while the one being thanked was Jiang Qin?

Early the next day, the weather was clear and cloudless.

After eating in the cafeteria and checking his class schedule, Jiang Qin found it was a minor class and asked Old Cao to help sign him in.

“You’re cutting the first class of the semester?”

“Got some business, need to go out for a bit, really can’t make it back in time, how about this, I’ll treat for breakfast today.”

The three people eating paused, exchanged a glance, then dragged him to the counter to order three extra expensive combo meals, eating with great delight.

It’s not that we can’t afford it, but freebies just taste better!

After finishing breakfast, Jiang Qin drove out of Linchuan University and arrived at the east gate of Normal University, following the main road straight ahead.

Reaching the campus service center, Jiang Qin opened his trunk, picked up a Xitian milk tea bag and entered the office.

“Director Li, the shop’s new milk tea, Chinese flavor.”

“Oh? There’s this flavor of milk tea too, no wonder your business is good, bold in innovation, that’s an excellent quality.”

Director Li tossed the milk tea bag into his desk drawer, then took him to West Campus Road to look at a store in the on-campus commercial area.

This store’s lease had expired before the new year and hadn’t been renewed.

And it was just a few days after the lease ended that Director Li happened to receive the little gift Jiang Qin had mailed over.

Things like calendars, coasters, lighters, umbrellas, and bookends, flashy beyond belief and not worth much at all.

But although the items weren’t valuable, those few logos made Director Li immediately think of Jiang Qin as well as his work-study program affiliation.

His impression of Jiang Qin was already quite good, plus the work-study program had been reported in the papers and praised in the education bureau meeting, if he could take the lead in bringing it to Normal University, the benefits would definitely be plentiful.

So he took it upon himself to help Jiang Qin keep the storefront.

Renting it to anyone was still renting, but renting to Jiang Qin could gain the title of a work-study program, why not?

“What do you think of this shop?”

Jiang Qin glanced over it: “This is the one, I’ll send someone to take over in a couple days.”

Li Hua was a bit surprised: “So decisive?”

“How could the director’s choice be wrong? If I didn’t need to sign the contract in person, I wouldn’t even need to look at it.”

Jiang Qin’s little mouth dripped honey as he swiftly signed the lease agreement.

With the forum promotion imminent, the shops weren’t that important, big or small, new or old weren’t the key points, as long as the promotional effects could be achieved it was fine.

Also, in currying Director Li’s favor he had another objective, hoping Director Li could be their school-enterprise liaison.

But Director Li refused without a second thought.

The benefits of leading the project were plentiful enough to satisfy Director Li, but being a liaison wasn’t a good role, it meant real responsibilities.

Take the University of Science and Technology for example, Hu Maolin was equivalent to the project leader while Zhang Anmin was the project liaison.

Even if Jiang Qin grew and became successful in the future, the one interviewed for the papers and praised would definitely be Hu Maolin with Zhang Anmin coming after.

If Zhang Anmin wasn’t Professor Yan’s student, he definitely wouldn’t take on this difficult and thankless task, much less Director Li.

“Jiang Qin, this is a college entrepreneurship project, not a business enterprise, you don’t need a liaison, don’t worry.”

“Alright Director Li, I’ll listen to you then.”

Jiang Qin didn’t persist, chatting a bit more before leaving Normal University, his expression a bit vexed.

It was indeed fine for college student entrepreneurship projects to not have a liaison, but without a teacher from the school backing it, if any trouble arose in the future it would be very hard to handle.

Pondering this, he went to the University of Technology to see Director Sun Chunming.

Just like Director Li from Normal University, Director Sun also found him a shop, but the moment being a liaison was brought up, he waved his hands in refusal.

After being a school leader for so long, and frequently leading teams out for learning too, whether it was Li Hua or Sun Chunming, they had a precise grasp of weighing benefits and drawbacks.

“This won’t do, both universities don’t have liaisons, how can this be?”

“I have to think of something…”

Early the next day, after thinking the whole night, Jiang Qin drove to Shengshi Advertising Factory to inquire about the production of Xitian branch shop signage and materials, then placed an urgent order for two silk banners and two award certificates.

The silk banners had two lines: Wholeheartedly Promote Work-Study Program, Fulfill Duties and Exemplify Teacher Virtues.

The content of the certificates was more complicated.

The large text portion was XX University XX Made Outstanding Contributions to the Work-Study Program, Specially Awarded the Title of “Excellent Mentor”.

The small text portion was Building Dreams on Campus, Caring for Students, Alleviating Poverty and Hardship, Peaches and Plums Filling the Sky.

After receiving the certificates and banners, he returned to Linchuan University and found Dean Zhang Boqing, hoping to get the dean to stamp the certificates with a seal.

“Kid, what shenanigans are you up to now?” Zhang Boqing was confused.

Jiang Qin simply explained the situation: “They won’t be my liaisons, so I’m first finding a way to give them a similar title, consider it insurance for the future.”

“Where did you learn these tactics from?”

    “Maybe inherited from my mom…”

Jiang Qin thought of the red envelopes Feng Nanshu received on New Year’s Eve, according to his mom’s methods, regardless of whether she was a daughter-in-law or not, first give the red envelope to secure a position to discuss from!

Zhang Boqing pondered a moment: “The school’s official seal definitely can’t be used carelessly, how about this, go find Gu Chunlei and have her stamp it with the publicity center’s seal.”

“Does it have the words Linchuan University? I’m afraid if the name isn’t big enough they won’t take it seriously.”

“Definitely has it, you can rest assured on this.”

    “Thank you Dean!”

“Wait, first come back here, I have something to discuss with you!”

Jiang Qin ran to the door and ran back: “What is it? I’m at your command.”

Zhang Boqing coughed and lowered his voice: “Can’t you give me a copy of your family’s secret dumpling recipe? You know how I spent this new year? Every time I ate dumplings I thought of the ones from the Winter Solstice!”

“I’ve sworn to never reveal the ancestral secret recipe, or else I won’t find a girlfriend, but since the Dean wants it, I can only make a decision that goes against my ancestors.”

“Kid, not a word of truth from your mouth!”

Jiang Qin pulled out his phone with a grin and forwarded the text message.

Zhang Boqing received the recipe text message and glanced at it, his expression suddenly stunned.

    Hmm?

How come there’s also a recipe for Spicy Chicken?
