Chapter Index

The pedestrian street in the university city was very crowded with about ninety percent being new students. They were only willing to cross the street to eat here due to the novelty.

The older students wouldn’t do this anymore. They had become increasingly sloppy in their daily college life. Let alone going to the off-campus food street, sometimes they found it troublesome to even go downstairs to buy a meal.

Of course, those in relationships were an exception.

People in relationships would run outside even if their legs broke from exhaustion.

Jiang Qin took Feng Nanshu to a roadside stall and ordered stir-fried tomato and eggs, twice-cooked pork, fish with pickled vegetables, and shredded potato with hot and sour sauce.

When eating out, what to order was always an eternal dilemma. Unfamiliar dishes might be bad while fancy dishes might not be worth it. So Jiang Qin always only ordered these four dishes. He almost never had a bad experience. This was knowledge gained from eating take-out in his previous life as an office worker.

While waiting for the food, almost all the passersby couldn’t help but pause next to them and look at Feng Nanshu who was sitting there obediently, flashing amazed looks in their eyes.

Some people were so stunned that they couldn’t recover for a long time and absentmindedly crashed into the stall.

Jiang Qin clicked his tongue disapprovingly.

Serves you right for eyeing my rich girl. Why don’t you walk right into the boss’s wok?

He withdrew his gaze, stacked the two sets of utensils together, rinsed them with boiling water, and then focused his attention on Feng Nanshu.

“You said earlier that you eavesdropped on your roommates’ chat outside the dorm. What did they say?”

“Very aloof, hard to approach, don’t want to live with a rich young lady, things like that.”

Feng Nanshu wiped the corner of her mouth, her eyes occasionally glancing at the wok in the stall owner’s hands.

After hearing this, Jiang Qin nodded, roughly understanding the mentality of those five girls.

The little rich girl was too beautiful and naturally had an aura. She even used a bodyguard to open the way in an impressive entrance. Although cleaning seemed like a kind gesture, it actually created a sense of pressure for the whole dorm.

And this young lady who was viewed by her roommates as the female version of an arrogant genius…

She was staring intently at that black wok, drooling uncontrollably, completely unaware of how explosive her actions were.

Actually, this matter could be perfectly resolved quite simply. Because those girls were afraid of her, not disliking her. As long as she showed a bit of goodwill, it should be fine.

But Feng Nanshu was indeed naturally airheaded. Her words often missed the point. Having her express goodwill to her roommates through language was unreliable. A different approach was needed.

“Jiang Qin, I want to eat that!”

Jiang Qin turned his head to look in the direction she was pointing and saw a small push cart selling rainbow cotton candy next to them. “No, you don’t want to eat that.”

Feng Nanshu swallowed. “Can I buy it myself?”

“That stuff is all food coloring. Your tongue will change color after eating it. Be good, don’t eat it.”

“I’ll buy one for you too. What color do you like? I like pink. How about you get a blue one?”

Jiang Qin couldn’t keep a straight face anymore. “Can you not bribe me with such childish things? What official can’t resist this kind of bribery? If I say no, then it’s no.”

Feng Nanshu quickly returned to her aloof expression. “Childish? Heh, you even rode the teacup ride.”

    “?????”

Jiang Qin widened his eyes in disbelief, thinking to himself, you can’t learn how to make friends but you’re quick to lodge a complaint first, huh? If it wasn’t to accompany you, would a macho man like me ride the teacup ride?

“Jiang Qin, are there any teacup rides nearby?”

    “Don’t even think about it.”

Jiang Qin imagined the scene of the two of them riding a teacup ride at a crowded intersection and couldn’t help but break out in goosebumps all over.

While talking, the boss had already finished cooking the dishes and swiftly brought them to their table.

Seeing that there was food to eat, Feng Nanshu became delighted and no longer made excessive demands.

After dinner, Jiang Qin took Feng Nanshu to the supermarket, grabbed some snacks from the shelves, and packed them into five bags.

“No more, no more, I can’t eat that much.”

    “They’re not for you.”

Hearing this, Feng Nanshu was stunned for a moment and her little face instantly fell.

Jiang Qin didn’t see her change in expression and just kept putting sweets into the bags.

“You’re not good at talking. In the future, just smile more in the dorm.”

“Your roommates don’t dislike you. They just feel you’re a bit out of reach and will feel pressured. So you need to take the initiative to show goodwill.”

“They say if you eat someone’s food, your mouth is tied; if you take someone’s things, your hands are soft. Give them these snacks and they’ll know you’re someone who’s easy to get along with.”

Jiang Qin pulled her to checkout. As they walked out of the supermarket, he suddenly remembered Guo Zihang’s words. “Damn, I really am like your dad now.”

Feng Nanshu was a bit flustered. “No, I already have a dad. I just want to be friends with you.”

    “It’s just a metaphor!”

“Oh… you scared me to death.”

By the time they returned to the school from the pedestrian street, night had fallen. The entire campus was filled with an atmosphere of hormones. There were bound to be young couples in every dark corner.

Jiang Qin walked in front, carrying bags of snacks. Feng Nanshu followed behind in her little leather shoes. The two of them strolled under the moonlight, with gentle breezes caressing the willows on the left and rippling waves shimmering on the right.

As they walked, Jiang Qin suddenly stopped. The little rich girl who couldn’t brake in time unexpectedly crashed into his back – round, warm, and bouncy.

Jiang Qin raised the corner of his mouth, thinking that an airhead like Feng Nanshu definitely wouldn’t notice his true intentions.

So he repeated this sly move seven or eight times along the way until they reached the bottom of the girls’ dorm building.

“Here are the things. Remember to distribute them as soon as you go back.” Jiang Qin had the appearance of an upright gentleman.

“Okay.” Feng Nanshu took the bags. “Can I sneak a little?”

    “No.”

    “Oh.”

Jiang Qin put on a serious expression and instructed word by word, “I’m being serious. If something gets eaten by you, resulting in everyone else having it except one person, the consequences could be troublesome.”

After being silent for a while, Feng Nanshu had a slight realization. “Then can I choose one thing and eat five of them in a row?”

“You… you really are a little smart aleck.”

Jiang Qin couldn’t tell if he was praising or complaining. He waved goodbye to the little rich girl and walked out of the girls’ dorm area under the moonlight.

After seeing him leave, Feng Nanshu lowered her head to look at her chest, her eyelashes fluttering slightly, her expression pensive.

What’s so good about these things? Looking isn’t enough, he has to find ways to touch them too.

The little rich girl was silent for a while, then carried the five big bags of snacks upstairs. The girls in room 503 were originally chatting happily. When she pushed the door open, the voices inside abruptly stopped and everyone looked over, their eyes flickering with nervousness and probing.

Feng Nanshu took a deep breath, walked in, and put the bags of snacks one by one on their desks, then bit her lip without saying anything.

After a while, Fan Shuling suddenly coughed and gave a look to the other four people.

“Um, Feng Nanshu, we’re going to check in at eight o’clock tomorrow morning. Want to go together?”

“Yeah, let’s go together. If you’re free in the afternoon, let’s have a meal together?”

Feng Nanshu smiled and nodded happily. The five roommates immediately breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly pulled her to sit in the middle.

The atmosphere in the dorm began to liven up, and the sound of silvery laughter kept ringing out, but Feng Nanshu was still not good at conversing and just listened quietly.

Jiang Qin was probably worried about her current situation. Before long, he sent her a QQ message asking if she had given out the things.

Feng Nanshu responded with an “mm-hmm,” then looked out the pitch-black window.

She felt a hint of hard-to-describe palpitations in her heart, very similar to the loneliness from last time, but seeming a bit different.
