Chapter Index

“How about having an Aquarius child? They are creative thinkers, calm and intelligent.”

    “Sure.” Feng Nanshu readily agreed.

Jiang Qin smiled slightly, “Actually, a Leo wouldn’t be bad either. They’re passionate, generous, kind and honest.”

“I’m clueless, I’ll just listen to you.”

“Alright, but we should also consider the Chinese zodiac. Next year is the year of the tiger. It’s not great for girls. Although tiger girls are confident and cheerful, they tend to hurt themselves and others in relationships. In theory, names shouldn’t be chosen randomly either. It’s best to have someone look at the fate. The surname Jiang has the water element, and Nan has wood. Having an earth character in the child’s name might be better, benefiting the family and finances.”

After being a boss for over a year, Jiang Qin’s divergent thinking had become very strong. Plus, he had always excelled at marketing, so this came naturally to him.

From science to metaphysics, from astrology to fame and fortune, he considered everything thoroughly. This is attention to detail.

Feng Nanshu, standing beside him, was dumbfounded. The light seemed to flicker in her beautiful eyes as she looked dazed yet eager.

Meanwhile, Gao Wenhui was slumped over the counter, looking up with a crazed expression. Two phrases kept flashing through her mind – next year, year of the tiger.

Having a baby next year? Isn’t that too soon? Won’t we get fined!

“Gao Wenhui, why are you grinning like an idiot?”

As he spoke, Jiang Qin suddenly felt something was off. He thought, I’m just naming a character, how did I get so invested? It’s too easy to get carried away with this stuff.

Glancing at Gao Wenhui again, as expected, she was so into it she was drooling, eyes shining no less than the little rich girl’s.

“I didn’t say anything just now, I only wanted a character name. The zodiac signs, naming fortune-telling, that was all you. It has nothing to do with me. You’re projecting too much, I can’t even get a word in.”

Upon hearing this, Gao Wenhui instantly reined in her expression and deflected the blame.

“What do you mean I misspoke? Can’t you see there are customers? Stop projecting and make the milk tea!” Jiang Qin scolded harshly.

“Tyrant boss, blaming me for your slip of the tongue.”

“What slip of the tongue? I’m helping enrich your character’s backstory. Writing a book is no simple matter. If you want to bring characters to life, you have to consider all this.”

Gao Wenhui didn’t believe him at all and had proof, “Boss Jiang, my female lead is named Feng Tianxian. Where’s the wood? You said you have water and she has wood, and the child’s name should have earth. Were you thinking for my novel or for yourself?”

Jiang Qin furrowed his brow, “Why aren’t you wearing a hat at work?”

    “????”

The night swiftly turned lush as silhouettes still bustled on campus. Students brimming with anticipation for the new term ceaselessly released their youthful energy.

As the crowd swelled, business at Xitian Milk Tea Shop also hit a peak. The store was originally only a dozen square meters, leaving no room to stand when customers flooded in, making it extraordinarily crowded.

At the start of the term, bringing your girlfriend to buy milk tea was nothing unusual.

So, Jiang Qin took Feng Nanshu’s hand and left the milk tea shop to wander around aimlessly.

The welcome banner at the school gate had already been erected with tents from various faculties set up in front of it. Additionally, Room 208 had also pitched a tent here.

After all, with freshmen enrolling, the lifeblood of Linchuan University needed to be invigorated. This publicity work had to be done even if it wasn’t that important.

“Damn, in the blink of an eye, I’m a sophomore but seem to have learned nothing. The tuition feels like such a waste.”

Jiang Qin muttered and grumbled as he brought the little rich girl back on campus. Unexpectedly, they wandered into the campus supermarket where the sharp-eyed Jiang Zhihua immediately spotted them and warmly invited them in to check out the new products.

So Boss Jiang, like a hapless chump, splurged a large sum here again, feeling even more like he got ripped off than before.

“Jiang Qin, I want the good friend lamp.”

    “Let’s buy two.”

“Can I also get these blue and red pens?”

    “Also two of each.”

Jiang Zhihua had been observing for a while and found it odd. Boss Jiang seemed to spoil this girl even more this time. Previously, he would still pretend to struggle a bit but now he basically couldn’t bear to refuse.

I should stock more next time. It’s easiest to earn money by targeting weaknesses. Some people’s weak points aren’t obvious but Boss Jiang’s is really clear and easy to please. As long as it’s a matching pair, he wants it all no matter what.

After leaving the campus supermarket, Jiang Qin escorted Feng Nanshu back and returned to the men’s dorm in the School of Finance.

After being sealed for two whole months, an indescribable odor permeated Room 302. It was a bit dizzying and smoke wafted around. Without asking, he knew Ren Ziqiang was smoking.

Given this concentration, Old Ren must have been puffing with all his might.

Jiang Qin waved his hand to fan the air in front of him while opening the balcony window. He turned to look at the three guys in the dorm.

Zhou Chao hadn’t changed. He was humming a tune while munching on sunflower seeds with a half-read pirated web novel in front of him, still as carefree as before.

Cao Guangyu was furiously gaming, keyboard clacking nonstop, eyes bloodshot.

On the other side, Ren Ziqiang had a new haircut. His bangs were gone and that left eye, sealed for many years, was finally open, making him look more energetic. However, his expression was rather heavy as he chain-smoked.

That’s right, he failed a course.

But this time, he wasn’t alone in failing because Cao Guangyu also failed two.

Even so, Ren Ziqiang still felt disgruntled.

Old Cao gamed for three days straight before the exam, practically living in internet cafes. He only crammed the day before and ended up failing two courses.

What about himself? By day, he pussyfooted around with Cao, and by night, he hid under the covers secretly studying for hours on end, going through three thumb lights. Yet he fucking failed? Who could he reason with about this?

“Old Ren, your expression seems familiar.” Jiang Qin pulled over a chair to sit down.

Ren Ziqiang sighed, “Bro Jiang, I’ll be honest, I failed again.”

“That’s normal. You were dozing off wide-eyed during the exam, scaring the proctor senseless. How could you not fail? But victory and defeat are common in battle. Don’t be sad. I’ll have Old Cao treat you to a meal later.”

    “Thanks, bro Jiang!”

Upon hearing this, Cao Guangyu directly spat at Jiang Qin, “Cut the crap, what treat? I failed two fucking courses, it’s a huge disgrace!”

Jiang Qin turned to him, “You were gaming nonstop, failing is well-deserved.”

“Why aren’t you treating me to a meal?”

“Of course. You treat Old Ren, I’ll have Old Ren treat you. Also, Zhou Chao and I will accompany you. I’ll console you while Zhou Chao consoles Old Ren.”

Hearing this, Zhou Chao laughed out loud. Damn, I didn’t fail but scored two free meals at the start of the term. Who can I reason with about this?

Cao Guangyu turned away, ignoring everyone after hearing the suggestion. But Jiang Qin kept calling his name from behind, irritating him to no end.

“Old Jiang, you better have something important!”

“Indeed, I do. Didn’t you recently get selected for Zhihu’s top 100 bloggers program? The incentive alone was 8,000 yuan, right? But your update frequency has clearly dropped a lot lately and your popularity isn’t the same. I’m about to promote nationally, you can’t slip up.”

Cao Guangyu coughed, rubbing his hands a bit sheepishly, “You know I succeed by pretending. But I don’t have that much material around me, so a decline in popularity is normal.”

Jiang Qin glanced at him, “Aren’t you a rich second generation? Didn’t you fly private to the Maldives for vacation or something over break?”

“Even rich second generations don’t splurge every day. Ding Xue came to Hangcheng to see me over break. I was busy dating.” As he spoke, Cao Guangyu curled his lips into a pretentious smile.

“A girl coming to see you interferes with your real business?”

“Of course, we spent a wonderful time together. Love is great. Pretending used to be my favorite thing but after meeting Ding Xue, it has to take a back seat.”

“I disagree. I don’t think having friends hinders pretending.” Jiang Qin shook his head.

Cao Guangyu gave a disdainful smile, “You don’t get it. If you were me, you wouldn’t have the mind for anything else either. Old Jiang, although Feng Nanshu went to see you too, you can’t really be considered to be in love. You probably can’t fully appreciate the beauty of passionate romance. You two still have a long way to go.”

“Then let me give you an example. This summer, the celestial girl stayed at my house and even took family photos with my parents. She can address all my relatives.” Jiang Qin said expressionlessly.

Hearing this, Cao Guangyu choked a bit, hands gripping the chair. The motion of his Adam’s apple clearly showed him swallowing.

“At the same time, I also took my dozen or so employees on a trip to four first-tier cities. We encountered a small incident midway. Our luggage was lost. Later, the little rich girl made a call…we stayed at the Bund in Shanghai, rode in a Mercedes, with black-stockinged lady tour guides.”

“Half a month ago, I was invited to a meeting with the Linchuan municipal government. At my suggestion…the Linchuan Business Group was established and a strategic partnership was reached.”

“Oh right, I also invited eight campus belles from four major universities to Room 207 to shoot a promotional poster.”

Jiang Qin nonchalantly spread his hands, “You see, having friends doesn’t conflict with pretending at all.”

Cao Guangyu gritted his teeth, “Old Jiang, you said so much just to piss me off. I’ll fight you!”

“Why would I bother pissing you off? I’m just giving you some material to create with. You really don’t appreciate kindness.”
