Chapter Index

“Brother Jiang, Sister-in-law Jiang, you’re both here? Please, have a seat.”

Ma Jiangming has keen eyesight and a charming way with words. His main approach is to make guests feel right at home if they show him respect.

Hearing this, Feng Nanshu reached unconsciously toward her waist, only to realize she was wearing a stunning white sheer dress without pockets.

So she slipped her hand into Jiang Qin’s pocket and grabbed his wallet intending to pull it out.

Please, who does Jiang Boss think he is?

He is the kind that sees losing money as losing his life. The wallet is as dear as life to him. Surely he would notice if she touched it.

“Little rich girl, why are you grabbing my lifeline?” Jiang Qin asked sternly.

Feng Nanshu spoke expressionlessly: “He already calls me sister-in-law.”

Jiang Qin paused: “He’s just being polite. No need for a red envelope.”

    “Oh.”

Feng Nanshu let go. Her rich girl skills were canceled just a second before activation.

Ma Jiangming, oblivious to the near display of ostentatious wealth, was still joyfully greeting others at the door. He then summoned a student council member to show Jiang Qin and Feng Nanshu to their seats.

Soon after they sat down, the Finance Academy’s “National Day and Freshmen Welcome” evening gala officially began.

At that moment, all the lights went out, leaving only the brightly lit stage as the sole source of light.

Although Jiang Qin wasn’t much interested in school galas, the sight of the event program kindled some excitement.

The Finance Academy really had some flair, offering not just singing and dancing but also street dance and rap.

Then the emcee stepped up, gave a lukewarm opening speech thanking the school and the Finance Academy, and even Jiang Qin and Zhihu, before proceeding to introduce the acts.

Maybe to ignite the venue’s atmosphere, the opening act was a street dance show.

When the lights came back on, the red-dressed female host had disappeared, replaced by eight tall boys arranged in an inverted V on stage.

Their bold attire consisted of similar tight-fitting leather jackets, with nothing underneath, showcasing splendid abs.

That the boys had abs was particularly impactful for the girls, and all eight were quite handsome.

Some had short, manly and dashing hair, others long and melancholically soft, very much a squared version of the F4 from Meteor Garden, triggering a wave of cheers from the younger females.

The performance began with a synchronized move from the lead dancer.

    “This is absolutely corrupting morals!”

Jiang Qin was infuriated and swiftly covered Feng Nanshu’s eyes, leaving no gap.

Feng Nanshu murmured, puzzled by what was happening but obedient. She didn’t peek and continued being adorably naïve.

She didn’t demand much; just being near Jiang Qin was enough, whether standing or sitting, inside or outside, as long as she could stick close.

Three minutes later, the ab-showing men exited, blowing kisses to more cheers.

Jiang Qin then relaxed and kicked the seat in front: “Brother Ma, these guys aren’t from our department, right? I don’t recognize them.”

“Indeed, they’re from the street dance club, here specially for the performance.”

“Your taste is unusual—why invite a bunch of ab-guys? Who’s interested in that?”

Ma Jiangming flashed a mysterious smile: “Hold on, Jiang Brother. This boy band is just a bonus. The real show stopper is coming up—a hot dance by eight spicy girls in shorts and crop tops.”

    “Eight spicy girls? That exaggerated?”

Jiang Qin held his breath, impressed: “Good job, old Ma. My sponsorship wasn’t wasted.”

“Of course, Jiang Brother. Just you wait, they’re up next.”

The stage went dark again, and as the lights returned, Jiang Boss immediately confirmed that old Ma indeed was a man of his word.

Eight girls in white shorts and pink crop tops stood on stage, their legs dazzlingly white, drawing whistles that pierced the sky.

Jiang Qin displayed a contented expression and relaxed fully in his chair to enjoy the show.

Like the previous act, the leading dancer initiated the move by bending over to spotlight her curvaceous rear, her right hand tracing up from her ankle in a delicate S-curve.

    And then…

And then Jiang Qin could see no more.

Feng Nanshu suddenly raised her hand, covering his eyes, looking somewhat proud and adamant about him not watching.

“Feng Nanshu, what are you doing?”

“I don’t want you to watch.”

    “Why?”

    “It’s corrupting morals.”

    “……”

Watching this, Ma Jiangming couldn’t help but click his tongue. A typical case of one quilt not covering two different types of people!

Soon, the hot dance ended to thunderous applause and howling that sounded like people who hadn’t seen meat in eighteen years.

Jiang Qin couldn’t see but could hear, feeling utterly envious.

When the rich girl finally removed her hand, Ma Jiangming was ecstatic: “Brother Jiang, you really missed out! The lead beauty blew a kiss at you—especially arranged as a sponsor’s privilege!”

Jiang Qin looked at him blankly: “Brother Ma, do you think that’s polite?”

Feng Nanshu, pouting, also stared: “Is that polite?”

    “……”

Alright, alright. Clearly raised under one quilt, Ma Jiangming immediately stopped speaking.

For the next hour and a half, it was as if the two were addicted to the game—covering each other’s eyes whenever boys or girls performed, their actions childishly reciprocated.

According to Jiang Boss, no matter how mature or aloof one might be, friendship always brings out one’s inner child.

Naturally, the welcoming gala included mixed performances like love song duets and skits, during which they’d cover each other’s eyes again.

Until at last, the little rich girl mysteriously ended up in Jiang Qin’s arms, her body instantly softening, no longer struggling, and leaned closely against him.

“That concludes our welcome gala. Now, let us invite our sponsor and the founder of the Zhihu campus forum, Jiang Qin, to give a speech.”

    “……”

Jiang Qin felt stupefied, thinking, so I paid to watch a bunch of dudes for two hours and now I have to perform too?

But it had been announced, and he couldn’t refuse. So, Jiang Boss stood up and walked to the stage, delivering some courteous remarks.

His speech was simple—thanking the school and the Finance Academy leaders, and he also promoted Zhihu and group-buying.

As he finished, the dance girl suddenly appeared from behind, carrying a bouquet of flowers that she handed to him.

Seeing this, Feng Nanshu’s delicate nose twitched: “Ma Jiangming is a bad man.”

Ma Jiangming blinked, taken aback: “Sister-in-law, don’t misunderstand. Although I arranged the flying kiss, not everything was my doing.”

“I won’t give you lucky money.”

    “?”

At eight o’clock in the evening, the gala ended, and as Jiang Qin descended the stage with flowers in hand to give to the little rich girl, Ma Jiangming finally felt the chill at the back of his neck ease.

Just as they headed for the door, they incidentally bumped into Qi Qi and her group leaving.

Their eyes met; Qi Qi looked utterly forlorn before sending Jiang Qin a complex glance and then quickly vanished into the night.

    “?????”

Jiang Boss was puzzled, wondering what was wrong with the kind junior who twice helped him with trash.

He was a reborn individual, spiritually mature and quite detached from current university trends of romance, given his dramatically improved social status after a year of hard effort.

In his eyes, he was merely accompanying the little rich girl to a community event during his downtime.

Unaware of Qi Qi’s internal struggle and fear of loss, if anyone mentioned it, he’d find it utterly baffling.

The junior who helped with the trash? Oh, she’s kind!

But heartbroken? Jiang Qin couldn’t fathom it, ending up thinking perhaps it’s just his charm. So handsome it sparks joy or causes heartbreak at a glance.

Pondering this, Jiang Qin glanced at Feng Nanshu: “It’s still early. Where would you like to go? And don’t say the grove.”

“Let’s go watch a movie in Room 207.”

“That’s one of the two places at Linchuan University known for loose morals, and you’ve scoped them both out?”

Jiang Qin took Feng Nanshu to Room 207 and when they emerged, the little rich girl’s toenails were painted blue.

Jiang Boss noted that blue was his lucky color for the next week. He planned to wear blue, watch the blue sky, and eat blue food.
