Chapter 386: Gentlemen Speak But Do Not Use Their Hands
by xennovel“Boss, why does Suixin Group really dare to sell Shanghai’s resources to Nuomi Net?”
“Ye Ziqing, this person, she lacks other strengths but is bold. Others fear to make this kind of decision, but she dares to, often described as stubborn.”
“Then why are you so sure she will sell to Nuomi?”
“It’s simple because Nuomi is the weakest now. Even if they acquire the resources, they can’t digest them quickly, giving Suixin Group enough time to raise funds.”
“But Wowo Group is not very big either.”
“Wowo joined the race from the first round. They probably ran out of money too. Getting Shanghai’s resources and aggressively advancing would be difficult as a funding break would exclude them from the third round. Ye Ziqing’s judgment is correct.”
“So, can Suixin Group really turn the situation around?”
“Her judgment is sound, but the end might not be good. It depends on the people. What Ye Ziqing is doing might just give a glimmer of hope, but they are likely to lose ultimately.”
“Why?”
“Do you need to ask why? Because I’ll monopolize the entire game.”
Jiang Qin sat sprawled in a three-meter diameter circular soup pool at Linchuan Entrepreneurs’ Club, his right hand resting on a leather cushion by the pool, sipping from a jade-colored teacup.
He thought his previous statement was rather cool and wanted to say it again, but he held back.
While he was speaking, the curtain marked “Female” suddenly lifted.
Feng Nanshu emerged from the shower room opposite, dazed, with dewy, pale skin and a well-proportioned figure, especially her lean, fair legs and rosy toes, which momentarily took Boss Jiang’s breath away.
He had mentioned taking Feng Nanshu to bathe, and Linchuan Entrepreneurs’ Club had an indoor hot spring and various medicinal baths.
After all, it’s a place for entrepreneurs to indulge, everything at the highest standard, free with the Linchuan Business Group’s membership, suiting Jiang Qin’s tastes perfectly.
With such a great place, who would want to spend three bucks at a school bathhouse?
However, the bathing suit worn by the little rich girl had a truly overwhelming effect, even though it was a one-piece, it was still blood-pumping.
Jiang Qin’s gaze was hardly friendly anymore, showing a trace of youthful recklessness, fervor, and vigor.
“Tan Qing, I’m facing a huge crisis, a very big one. Gotta hang up, I’ll contact you later when I have time.”
“What? What kind of big crisis, boss? Are you okay?”
“It’s kind of… very steep and big. But don’t worry, I think I can handle it.”
Jiang Qin took a deep breath when he saw Feng Nanshu walk over barefoot, her round buttocks sitting on the edge of the pool before she dipped into the water and playfully splashed water at him with a cool expression but cute eyes.
Boss Jiang leaned on the cushion silently, pretending not to notice, then suddenly grabbed her feet while she turned to grab some snacks.
With a splash, glistening droplets flew over, and the little rich girl got drenched again, her eyelashes adorned with shiny droplets, looking innocent and vivacious.
This expression, on other girls, might seem coquettish, but on Feng Nanshu, it was just right, purely natural.
“Little enchantress, waving food around boldly provoking me, but I’m a gentleman and won’t stoop to your level. But … do you know what a gentleman is?”
Feng Nanshu thought for a moment, “A gentleman means even if I’m naughty, you won’t spank me.”
“No, a gentleman means using words, not hands.”
The little rich girl paused, then couldn’t help but chuckle.
Half an hour later, Jiang Qin and Feng Nanshu changed clothes and started playing with a paper frog on the table, seeing who could blow it further, both acting childishly.
In the final round, Boss Jiang blew too hard, sending the little frog flying behind the little rich girl.
“Little rich girl, pick that up.”
Feng Nanshu looked at him dumbly, her lips pursed pinkly, “Jiang Qin, I can’t go, my foot hurts.”
“Gentlemen are always like this.”
Jiang Qin stood to pick it up but saw a familiar figure not far opposite when he looked up.
The person wore a black long dress, arms hanging in front, holding the handles of a lychee-patterned leather bag, in a typical waiting pose.
Feeling the gaze, the person also saw Jiang Qin, and they greeted each other, exchanged smiles politely then looked away.
Indeed, Ye Ziqing was back, probably looking to raise some funds to help Suixin Group out of its plight.
Jiang Qin didn’t know who she was meeting but judging by her demeanor, she had been waiting a while. The other party either was hesitant to agree or she hadn’t notified them in advance and just came here to wait.
As the evening arrived and with the Labor Day holiday tomorrow, they weren’t in a hurry to leave. They called over the waitstaff intending to order something to eat.
“President Jiang, anything you need?”
“Can we do an outdoor barbecue? Bring some over.”
“Okay. Do you want some wine? The last time you and President Qian were here, you didn’t finish your stored bottle.”
Jiang Qin waved his hand, “Nevermind, I have to drive later.”
The waiter nodded, then called over a group of people, brought in a barbecue grill, a cooler, and a detachable kitchen countertop. What was once an empty terrace became a bustling barbecue scene.
Soon, a chef in black and several assistants in white came over, dividing the tasks, and began slicing and skewering right there to grill on the spot.
Linchuan Entrepreneurs’ Club’s barbecue used apple wood, which supposedly made the meat naturally fragrant, but Jiang Qin, used to more processed flavors, couldn’t tell the difference. However, the quality of the kebabs was undeniably top-notch, as was the grill master’s skill.
After a while, the kebabs were ready. Also served was a young lamb’s foreleg. The chef scraped off the outer layer, keeping only the tender middle bits before returning the rest to slow roast on the fire.
Jiang Qin fed a piece to Feng Nanshu then glanced over to the area adjacent to the golf course, spotting Ye Ziqing still waiting, now sitting down instead of standing.
“Senior sister, want to join us for some food? We ordered too much, can’t finish it.”
Ye Ziqing turned to look at Jiang Qin, instinctively touching her empty stomach, hesitated for a moment then couldn’t resist coming over.
From 3 PM to 8 PM, five hours, she had only had some water, saying she wasn’t hungry would be a lie.
“Sorry to trouble you.”
“It’s just a meal. You can return the favor next time,” Jiang Qin instructed the waiter to bring her some cutlery.
Ye Ziqing smiled lightly, glancing up at Feng Nanshu and finding the young woman still as stunning, even feeling a bit pressured by her presence.
A mature woman feeling pressured by a young university student suggested Feng Nanshu’s affluent and beautiful aura was indeed overpowering.
She remembered reading a story in school about King You of Zhou who lit beacons to amuse Baosi, causing his troops to panic, mistaking it for an enemy attack; they hurried to defend him.
Ye Ziqing didn’t believe it then, doubting such beauty existed.
But after meeting this young woman, she vaguely felt that Jiang Qin’s reluctance to stay in Linchuan might not just be due to fearing the capital market’s slaughter; perhaps there was an element of ‘the king no longer rises early for court.’
The girl was too beautiful, indeed capable of making a man lose his ambition, Jiang Qin seemed to be a case in point.
“Senior sister, are you here to meet someone today?”
Ye Ziqing snapped back to reality, smiling lightly as if a cloud drifted by, “Yes, looking for President Qian Wei Ming. Suixin Group has reached a critical phase, we need some funds to advance further.”
Jiang Qin looked at her in surprise, “To advance further? So, letting go of Shanghai was part of your plan?”
Ye Ziqing paused, “You… you know?”
“I’ve been somewhat following along. After all, I started with group buying too, and the whole national market is so hot, I’m a bit curious.”
“Okay. We did encounter some problems. Not misjudgments, but because of a mole.”
Jiang Qin remained noncommittal, silent for a moment, “So you’re trying to quickly raise funds, hoping to turn the tables while Lashou Network reorganizes the Shanghai market?”
He deliberately didn’t mention he guessed Ye Ziqing intended to use Nuomi Net to check Lashou Network, playing the role of a bystander.
“Yes, if we get the funds, we can immediately turn the situation around.”
“Senior sister, you’re brave and aggressive, indeed a good vanguard. I have a friend named Old He who also has the determination and fortitude to act decisively, thus becoming a standout of his times. But you and he are very different in character.”
Ye Ziqing paused, “How are we different?”
Jiang Qin thought for a moment before speaking, “You’re too rash, suited to be a vanguard but not a leader.”
“Do you think my seeking funds now is a misjudgment?”
“Business warfare doesn’t focus on right or wrong. What’s useful works, but you should understand, burning money to cover mistakes is a last resort. You spend money, catch up, but others won’t wait for you. Will you spend even more to chase them?”
Ye Ziqing put down her chopsticks, finding Jiang Qin’s casual remarks unsettling, “If you were me, with your team poached and the market you initially set up lost, would you have a better method?”
Jiang Qin sighed, “Never thought about it. I don’t know if I’ll ever face that, but I’ll think about it when the time comes.”
“Junior, at least I’ve taken this step without fear.”
“That’s true, you’re much braver than me. I’ve just been laying low, the more I do, the more comfortable I get.”
