Chapter 43: No Misunderstandings, No Need for Explanations
by xennovelAfter exiting the Literature Club’s activity room Jiang Qin looked at the clear post-rain sky pondering if he should treat the two promised meals.
After all such cool weather was rare once the temperature returned to previous levels even rewarding himself would make him sweat and going out to eat would become a luxury again.
Hong Yan, Feng Nanshu…
Jiang Qin flipped open his contacts hesitating between the two names then glancing at the time decided to treat Hong Yan for lunch and Feng Nanshu for dinner.
It should be more convenient to play footsie at night right?
After all doing so in broad daylight would easily make him infamous.
Soon the call connected Hong Yan’s smooth and sweet voice carried a hint of pleasant surprise.
After agreeing on a time and place Jiang Qin pocketed his phone taking the mineral water Dong Wenhao handed him his gaze turned to the slender college girls in short skirts by the lake.
“The face value level of your East Campus isn’t high.” Jiang Qin clicked his tongue looking a bit disappointed.
Dong Wenhao immediately disagreed this was an issue of East Campus’s reputation: “Today is the weekend the high-value ones were asked out early you want to see them but can’t.”
“You’re bluffing?”
“Let’s not mention anything else just this year’s freshmen there are two school flower level underclassmen directly refreshing East Campus’s face value record.”
After hearing this Jiang Qin silently drank some water already aware of who he was referring to: “From the law department?”
Dong Wenhao widened his eyes: “Your intel is quite accurate interested?”
“I don’t even date dogs.”
“Actually it’s useless even if you’re interested pretty girls are one more aloof than the next even adding them on QQ is a hassle my roommate is a second-gen rich he put out a 1,000 yuan bounty online to buy it but still couldn’t.”
After hearing this Jiang Qin almost spat out his water: “There are still such poor bastards? To be honest I’m old friends with them I’ll sell let your roommate come find me.”
Dong Wenhao glanced at him: “Bullshit.”
“Fuck nowadays even when telling the truth no one believes it what a bloody world.”
Jiang Qin grumbled as he walked passing through the vine-covered corridor with Dong Wenhao arriving at the south shore of East Campus Lake.
Dong Wenhao probably felt uneasy about only having 8 manuscripts but receiving a 150 yuan manuscript fee insisting on being his guide accompanying him all the way.
This Literature Club vice president had good connections along the way quite a few people took initiative to greet him Dong Wenhao also took the opportunity to introduce two friends to Jiang Qin one was Pang Hai who studied graphic design the other was the president of the part-time club Gao Dapeng.
He felt Jiang Qin’s website promotion definitely couldn’t do without on-campus publicity and had to start the next step so these two people would come in handy.
Jiang Qin also chatted well with these two even preliminarily confirming the publicity plan and poster design direction just waiting for the content volume to meet the standard before getting to work in full swing.
But just as they were discussing the price Dong Wenhao suddenly tugged Jiang Qin pointing at the pavilion in the garden across from them.
“Look one of the school flower underclassmen Chu Siqi.”
“?”
Jiang Qin looked over and indeed saw Chu Siqi in a white dress.
She was dressed like the female lead in a literary novel today her fluffy long hair cascading over her shoulders her exposed arms fair as jade.
And in front of her stood a boy in a black t-shirt about 1.8 meters tall wearing silver-rimmed glasses and Nike Zoom Kobe 3 sneakers.
Gao Dapeng also looked over widening his eyes in surprise: “Isn’t that Zheng Qinglong the student council president of the law department? I heard he’s been pursuing Chu Siqi since the start of school and finally asked her out?”
“Damn sure enough it’s the early bird that gets the worm simply an animal.” Pang Hai looked displeased.
“Let’s go over and see what they’re saying.”
Jiang Qin quickly waved his hand to refuse dreading it: “You guys go I won’t we know each other I’m afraid it’ll cause trouble.”
“Nonsense come on don’t be shy it’s also good to let you witness the ceiling of East Campus’s face value.” Dong Wenhao reached out and dragged him over.
“I really fucking don’t want to see!”
“Too bad you have to come or else you’ll say our East Campus’s face value isn’t high in the future!”
The four sneakily approached intending to catch them off guard but alas the target was too big they weren’t blind how could they not see you when you got close enough?
But being discovered wasn’t a big deal Pang Hai Gao Dapeng and Dong Wenhao directly walked over openly.
“Zheng Qinglong you little shit not bad just started school and already hitting on underclassmen and the prettiest one at that!”
Zheng Qinglong revealed his handsome face pushing up the glasses on the bridge of his nose and smiled: “Don’t make a fuss I just found an opportunity to chat with the underclassman that’s all.”
Pang Hai couldn’t help but make a tsk tsk sound: “Don’t bullshit I haven’t seen you find me to chat?”
“Alright I do indeed have good feelings for Underclassman Chu but she hasn’t agreed yet don’t go spreading rumors.”
“Not yet? I spit underclassman don’t agree to him this guy is too full of flowery words be careful of being tricked!”
Zheng Qinglong showed a gentlemanly smile: “If not me then who else is worthy of Underclassman Chu?”
Chu Siqi was a bit embarrassed by their words just about to say she didn’t plan to date in college but after raising her head her face suddenly paled her hands unconsciously clasping together.
Jiang Qin…
Jiang Qin was currently standing at the very back without many movements or expressions.
“Hm?”
Zheng Qinglong froze for a moment noticing Chu Siqi suddenly stepped towards that unfamiliar boy in the back her lashes trembling her face even showing a hint of fluster.
Pang Hai Gao Dapeng and Dong Wenhao’s gazes also shifted finally all landing on Jiang Qin.
Then three seconds later they witnessed a scene shocking enough to make their jaws drop.
“Jiang Qin why did you come to the East Campus?”
Jiang Qin took a step back and politely nodded: “I came to handle some things.”
Chu Siqi looked at him backing away half a step feeling a bit dazed: “Don’t misunderstand that’s a senior from our law department’s student council he said there was a problem with my student registration information and asked me out to discuss it.”
“It’s all good you guys chat don’t mind me.”
“What’s with your attitude? What I said is all true!”
Jiang Qin sighed helplessly: “I know I heard but I really don’t care you have things to do just go ahead.”
Chu Siqi stopped in her tracks biting her rosy thin lips her eyes welling up with mist: “Why won’t you just listen to me you’re doing this on purpose to anger me to death!”
“What the hell did I do now?”
“Pretending not to care about me pretending not to like me I admit it works you win alright I’m already fed up quickly make up with me!”
Jiang Qin took a deep breath: “How many times do I have to say it for you to understand I really don’t like you I’m not pretending can you stop always making it seem like I’m your boyfriend? We had no relationship to begin with you doing this makes me very uncomfortable.”
Chu Siqi suppressed her temper making her tone gentler: “Let’s make up I can forgive you for ignoring me all summer let’s go back to how we were before.”
“Fuck Chu Siqi do you really not treat people as people how can your 36-degree lips say such cruel and cold words?”
Jiang Qin felt it incomprehensible not knowing what the hell Chu Siqi’s thought process was like.
Go back to before?
I desperately pursued you you didn’t agree then turned around hugging your new boyfriend asking me if he was handsome?
Just directly piss on me and kill me forget about any fucking rebirth.
Chu Siqi stared at him suddenly feeling a sense of desolation rising from the bottom of her heart.
Her tears swirled in her eyes the tip of her nose red she now suddenly experienced what it felt like for acquaintances to become strangers.
