Chapter Index

The New Year’s promotion was running smoothly. Even the eve’s preliminary activities saw a significant increase in group-buy registrations.

Moreover, these places with high foot traffic, mostly within the group-buy’s main business areas, already attract significant attention with their exclusives.

In response, LaShou Network and Nuomi Network were powerless.

The New Year holiday itself spanned just three days. They found it hard to adopt similar strategies, a fact which greatly frustrated them.

Especially Robin. He suddenly realized he couldn’t win with skills, wit, or even underhanded tricks—what was left for him to play?

“President Yang, the New Year has passed, and all handovers are completed. I’ll take my leave now. Let’s part ways here.”

“President Luo, you’re leaving already? Stay a couple more days.”

    “I can’t stay anymore. I just can’t.”

On New Year’s morning, Robin, with his luggage, left the hotel without attending the farewell party, took a taxi straight to the airport, genuinely frightened of staying any longer as it would deepen his mental scars.

It’s true he’s done with the Shanghai market, but his career was just beginning.

Damn it, in just one month, he was so tormented by Jiang Qin that he had nightmares daily and started losing hair—how could he continue like this?

But luck wasn’t with President Luo. Right upon arriving at the airport and barely steadying himself, he ran into Jiang Qin.

“President Luo, what a coincidence! Are you leaving?”

“Yes, President Jiang, are you also leaving for… Kyoto?”

Jiang Qin paused, then waved his hand: “No, I’m not going to Kyoto. Relax, I’m just here to pick someone up.”

Hearing this, Robin felt relieved, hurriedly dragged his suitcase into the airport, and as he entered the lobby, felt as if a weight was lifted from his shoulders.

But according to the law of conservation of energy, burdens that disappear from one person emerge on someone else. Thinking about this made Robin feel sorry for Yang Xueyu.

At the same time, at the airport exit, a group of seven, carrying their luggage, walked out with boundless excitement resembling an ordinary tour group, except the girl in the middle was exceptionally pretty.

“Shanghai, I, Lu Feiyu, am back!”

“Feiyu, you’re a manager now. Why are you still acting like a kid?”

Lu Feiyu turned to Dong Wenhao, “Brother Dong, we’ve been stuck in the office for over half a year, rarely getting out. I’m naturally excited about this group outing.”

Dong Wenhao put on his sunglasses, “We’re executives now. Remember to carry yourself with a bit of dignity when we’re outside.”

The New Year holiday started on Saturday morning, and upon learning that the boss’s wife was coming to Shanghai to find the boss, Wei Lanlan, Su Nai, Dong Wenhao, and Lu Feiyu also decided to come along.

Entering the Shanghai market was the first and most crucial step in their nationwide plan. For such an important occasion, none of them wanted to miss out, so they formed a group and headed here.

    “Hey, I see the boss!”

    “Where?”

    “Right there, squatting over there!”

Just out of the station, Lu Feiyu saw Jiang Qin squatting on the side of the walkway and immediately ran over.

Jiang Qin, hearing the voice, looked up confused, thinking what’s this guy’s deal? Why does he resemble Lu Feiyu so much?

“Boss, why aren’t you responding to me?”

“Damn, it really is you? What brought you here?”

Catching his breath, Lu Feiyu took off his bag and placed it on the ground, “Not just me, everyone’s here. Partly to escort the boss’s wife, partly to join in the fun.”

Looking in the direction Lu Feiyu came running from, Jiang Qin saw Dong Wenhao, Wei Lanlan, and the others approaching, including Gao Wenhui and Wang Haini.

The little rich girl was in the middle, wearing a white, short, down jacket and high-waist black jeans, looking every bit like a junge lady out with bodyguards, drawing numerous side glances from people around.

Jiang Qin turned to Lu Feiyu, pondered for a moment, then suddenly opened his arms, “Feiyu, long time no see, let’s have a deep hug from the boss.”

    “?”

“What are you waiting for? Come on, don’t be shy!”

Lu Feiyu was instantly touched, his lips quivering, “Boss, you missed me that much? Honestly, I didn’t even realize I meant that much to you…”

Before he could finish, Jiang Qin pushed him away, “Alright, that’s enough hugging. Shut it now.”

    “?????”

Then, Jiang Qin opened his arms towards Dong Wenhao, “Wenhao, long time no see, let’s hug.”

Dong Wenhao was surprised too, not expecting the boss to miss them so much. He dropped his backpack and walked over but, like Lu Feiyu, was only briefly hugged before being pushed away, the gesture being mildly affectionate, but not much.

    “Lanlan, let’s hug.”

“No… no need, boss.” Wei Lanlan quickly waved her hand.

Jiang Qin then turned to Su Nai, “Nainai, how about a hug?”

Su Nai narrowed her eyes, “I warn you, I’m just selling arts!”

“Little Gao, how about a hug?”

    “Buzz off!”

“Wang Haini, how about a hug?”

“I have a boyfriend now, President Jiang, and I can’t beat Feng Nanshu.”

Damn, another boyfriend? Jiang Qin smacked his lips, musing that it’s still the same old Haini, three in four years, never stopping.

He feigned a bit of regret, then turned to the little rich girl, took a deep breath, and pinched her cheek, “Long time no see, Miss Feng, how about a hug?”

Feng Nanshu winced as her cheek was pinched, then she dove into Jiang Qin’s arms. The soft embrace made his heart bloom with joy, and he spun her around once and again.

    “Feeling dizzy?”

The little rich girl nodded, “Dizzy, but I still dare.”

Seeing this, Dong Wenhao chuckled instantly, “I get it now. The boss was polite with us all just to wrap around and hug the boss’s wife.”

Lu Feiyu couldn’t believe it, “The boss didn’t miss me after all? I was genuinely moved, almost didn’t want a salary just to work for him!”

“He didn’t miss you one bit.”

“No, how can he deceive my feelings like this?”

Dong Wenhao snorted coldly, “Just the ruthless Daniel Wu.”

By now, Jiang Qin had spun Feng Nanshu several times. The little rich girl, already a bit foolish, became even sillier with the spinning, yet she kept murmuring, daring still.

Jiang Qin couldn’t help but admire, thinking how stubborn her mouth really is!

They say birds of a feather flock together, no wonder we’re lifelong buddies!

Fearing she might vomit, Jiang Qin quickly put her back down, muttering that a small reunion is better than a new friend, then looked around, “You all came so early, have you eaten?”

“We had the airline meal, boss.”

“Okay, then let’s go back to the Shanghai branch first. Tan Qing has been waiting there for you guys for a while. She came out quite early and misses you all. Let’s catch up first, then I’ll arrange a welcome dinner.”

Jiang Qin led a large group into the parking lot, turned up the heater in the car, and drove back to the Shanghai branch.

Once at the branch, Tan Qing’s eyes were already misty. She first went to hug Wei Lanlan and then Su Nai, both hugs very forceful, even turning their hands red.

She had left school with Wei Lanlan, and since arriving here in April, they hadn’t been able to return until the end of the year.

Though everyone calls her a queen, she’s also just a girl who recently entered society. Facing the responsibility of managing the branch alone, her pressure was immense.

Especially as the ground promotion team consisted of tough old men, skilled in grappling but not really on her wavelength, seeing Wei Lanlan and the others finally felt like seeing family.

Dong Wenhao lowered his voice, “Did you see that, Feiyu? That’s a genuine, emotional hug, filled with complex emotions, too intricate even for beautiful Chinese to describe.”

    “I understand…”

Lu Feiyu was also deeply moved, being a wordsmith with a shallow tear duct. He couldn’t withstand such heartfelt reunions, and his eyes immediately reddened.

He took a deep breath and opened his arms in anticipation but after a long wait, he realized Tan Qing had already sat down with Wei Lanlan and Su Nai.

    “?”

Lu Feiyu was dumbfounded, “I traveled all the way from Linchuan to Shanghai, and I don’t even deserve a sincere hug?”

At this moment, Jiang Qin, observing the scene, felt a flood of emotions himself, “Enough to make Yen Woo cry.”

Saying this, he turned to the little rich girl, noticing she was staring blankly at him, eyes wide, almost like a fangirl.

“That’s it, she’s mesmerized,” Wang Haini offered an accurate assessment.

“Not mesmerized, just thinks he’s somewhat good-looking.”

Feng Nanshu showed a cold expression, almost convincing.

Nevertheless, she thought about Jiang Qin all the way here, so anxious that she couldn’t sleep last night. She got up early to wash up, then sat quietly on her bed, waiting for Gao Wenhui and the others.

If you call her foolish, she could fool even Jiang Qin. If you call her clever, she genuinely believed Jiang Qin was the most handsome man in the world.

“Feng Nanshu knew she was meeting you today and couldn’t sleep all night,” Gao Wenhui started to dig in, planning to enjoy some dessert.

Feng Nanshu squinted her pretty eyes, “It’s the power of friendship!”

“That’s it, Feng Nanshu has completely taken on Jiang Qin’s shape.”

    “Husband slave…”
